La Salon and Spa

Tami is the best. Period. She really helped my problem skin and I will now n forever recommend her to everyone! Just don’t take my appointment time because I bought a package and now look forward to seeing her at least once a month! HIGHLY recommend!

I like the Russian lady who did the facial for me. She is very nice and has a lot to recommend for taking care of skin. I felt refreshed after the facial but my skin didn’t get much improved. I am going there again this week to see if it will get better.

I went to this spa with an amazon local deal I had purchased. It was a very average experience. I have definitely experienced much better massages, however you get what you pay for. The spa section is on the second floor located right next to a room where they do manicures. The massage room was not sound proof so I could hear everyone outside the room talking which made it difficult to relax. Not somewhere I would go back to spend my money.

Came to La Salon and Spa for a facial on Sunday after my dad bought an Amazon gift card, which I decided to use. While my facialist was a very sweet Russian lady, I do not recommend this spa (if it can even be called that) to anyone. The place was dingy and rundown. Lying down on the massage table, I found myself looking up at ceiling boards that were stained from water leaks. The place was not the cleanest and the services were far from professional and the caliber I’m used to. Before buying an Amazon gift certificate, make sure you Unilocal the place first!

Purchased a groupon for a facial. I can’t remember the name of the women who I got but she barely spoke English and I couldn’t understand her. She was not gentle either. the whole experience was pretty unenjoyable. Not relaxing. It was in a bright room. Do not recommend

Had a totally beautiful spa day. The facial by Jojo was excellent and Joy gave me an incredible massage. I’ve been going here for years and still very satisfied.

Purchased the $ 39 facial on groupon. She washed my face, rubbed it a little, then put a mask on for the last half hour. I could have done that all myself. I’ve had incredible facials before. This one was a waste of time.

I made the unfortunate mistake of booking an appointment at this so called Spa for a 1hr Hot Stone massage BEFORE taking the time to read any reviews. I purchased a Groupon for $ 39 booked my appointment and went. Like some other reviews, I assumed the spa would actually be just that based upon the location. This place is situated in the downtown area of Millburn, but it is poorly placed! When I arrived for my 10am appointment on 09÷16÷13 the place was a ghost town. There was the loud talking owner her friend and the receptionist whom quickly redeemed my groupon vouched before I had time to back out. So I proceeded on with the process but I had apprehensions soon as the owner addressed me telling me that there was a THREE DOLLAR TAX ON MY MASSAGE! Huh?!? I’ve had many spa services at Bangz in Montclair and was NEVER charged a tax. And if this massage is normally $ 89 how do you get taxed $ 3 when NJ’s sales tax is 7%?? Right there I knew this place wasn’t the type of establishment I desired to be in… The massage was of poor quality, YET I felt sympathetic towards the Russian lady performing it. During the entire hour, I heard the OWNER (an older Asian lady) TALKING, walking upstairs and down with her company, doors opening and closing. not spa quality at all. Nor was the place updated or even all that clean. In my opinion, the place should be put out of business or sold to a REAL PROFESSIONAL who could turn it around. Let this be a warning… do not waste your time, energy or money.

OK, yes, this place is a mixed bag. Recently, they’ve renovated the downstairs but it’s still looks cluttered somehow. So, why do I come here? First and foremost, Tami is terrific. She has many years of experience and does excellent facials and waxing using top of the line products. She was well trained in Russia. I have been waxed by her for at least six years every two to three weeks. My son had numerous blackheads and white heads and she professionally extracted every one of them. She does facials for his girlfriend. Hair downstairs is more hit or miss. I wanted my hair trimmed and the owner, Sophia, did a great, youthful cut. My daughter just wanted a trim and the woman nearly shaved her head. Very hit or miss. Never had a mani/​pedi and the massages were OK but not great. So adding this altogether, I gave it an average score but with real highs — Tami– and lows…

This is a review that applies to wax services and facials with Tammy only. I cannot speak on anyone else who works there.
Tammy is amazing. She has been my waxer for 6 years since she gives gentle, thorough brazilians. She takes her time and does not blindy rip off hair like other waxers I’ve had painful experiences with before. Tammy also gives a good facial. Her facials are thorough and relaxing. I always leave them glowing.
My service with the asian lady who works at the front has been so so. I have to agree with other reviews below that she is not so nice so I always steer clear of interacting with her when I go there. As the owner, she needs to be kinder to clients.

After reading all these negative reviews I was terrified of going to this place but I had already purchased my spa service so there was no turning back.
With it being in what is considered an upscale town, I was expecting a little more. The place seemed a little outdated and cramped. Their main business is the hair salon, and the spa is just an add on.
Upon entering I wasn’t greeted by the receptionist, she simply handed me a form to fill out but made sure to let me know of all the services they offered. The salon floor was overcrowded with work stations and there was hardly a waiting area. The spa is upstairs and does not resemble your typical spa/​zen/​relaxed atmosphere. The massage rooms were very small which made it hard for the masseuse to maneuver around. The massage itself wasn’t bad but it was very noisy from the salon downstairs, so I couldn’t relax.
The «spa» should be completely removed because it’s not in the right environment.

I had a hot stone massage. Since it was my first hot stone massage, I don’t have any other experience to compare to. But it was basically a regular massage complemented with hot stones rolling under her palms at one point. My masseuse was nice and made sure the pressure was ok, after asking how I liked my massages (deep tissue, etc). I have to add another star because I actually forgot my appt time and arrived an hour late, when she was about to close the place. After thinking about rescheduling, she then shrugged her shoulders and said, oh it’s okay… we’ll still do it.

I see many people have had different experiences, but I just returned from a great massage by Sophia over here. Was one of the better ones I had in my life. The place is clean and neat and seems to be redone recently. Got a great deal price wise too. Will certainly come back!

Awful experience. I had a coupon– sometimes their deals see great! When I asked my stylist to cut my hair, HE told ME I was wrong. When I asked him to fix something, he flat out said no. I wanted layers and got a blunt flat cut because he thought it would be better. And the salon is gross. Very unkept.

I have been going to Tami for years for facials. She is absolutely wonderful. I would not trust my skin to anyone else. She is experienced, professional and a delight!
I highly recommend her for all skin types. My skin has never looked better.

I had never been to this salon before. I called to make an appointment, and the person on the phone seemed curt towards me. The salon part looks nice and clean. The receptionist barely greeted me, and the hair stylist barely spoke to me. I asked the stylist for a trim, and she cut my hair before she established my hair part. I think it was the shortest amount of time I’ve ever sat for a haircut.

I got a groupon for manicures. Having never gotten a manicure before in my life I was really excited, I heard your hands get soaked and massaged and lotioned and come out luxurious. I got lotion slabbed on, no massage, and my hands quickly wiped. It was really fast.
The next time I went was even faster. The paint job on the nails was actually a littttttttle sloppy, and she went so fast filing my nails that they were way shorter than I wanted them and the edges were very squared/​blocky, ew. I wish she would have asked what I wanted for length and shape.
Maybe groupon customers get treated differently cause my friend that went here got a 5 minute hand massage. Probably won’t come back here again. I gave 3 stars cause I have no other manicure experience and feel like this place is just… OK

I bought a groupon for $ 59 for a blow out, cut and partial highlight.
I walked in was seated right after filling out my information.
The asian girl was like what do you want done? I told her maybe a little trim just to get the ends off, and I think some caramel highlights.
She said ok — started cutting my hair dry. Then handed me foils — told me to give her to them one at a time.
She did about 12 – 15 thin highlights.
She said «come on lets go — you have to go under the dryer now». This was not even 15 minutes of me sitting in the chair.
She put me under the dryer and after 3 min, she checked my highlights, came back 2 minutes later checked it again. came back 3 minutes later said I’m done, I have to get washed.
Got a great wash from Maria — her hands are heavenly.
Went back to the chair, got some more of my haircut — and ½ a blow out, she gave up because my hair was to thick. She just finished drying it and then flat ironed it.
Cut, Color and Dry all done in 50 minutes.
The highlights she explained have to be done gradually — to come back next time and she’ll go lighter. But in the right light I’ll be able to notice the difference.
And as if this isn’t bad enough — the place is a dive. Brushes with other peoples hair in them, its just filthy. I expected more not for $ 59 of course, but from Millburn!
Screw this place!

My husband and I went here for a 4 hour spa day as an anniversary present. Walking in the front door, I admit I was scared. The salon on the lower level was very small and very loud — not the kind of atmosphere you expect for your day of relaxation. The spa is upstairs (which I kind of wish I knew ahead of time since walking up stairs is not something I can do very easily) and was much quieter. The rooms themselves were pretty small, but you don’t notice when you’re eyes are closed and you’re relaxing.
We started with facials. It was very soothing and my face felt awesome afterwards. Next was a couple’s massage. We were both supposed to get stone massages, but my husband said that he didn’t get stones. I loved my massage. Melina was a little woman but she was an awesome masseuse, she was able to apply a good amount of pressure and the stones were awesome too. Hubby said that Sylvia had magic fingers and didn’t miss the stones.
Next was a manicure. Here’s where I’ve certainly had better. Apparently the timing of the day wasn’t planned out too well because my manicure was interrupted by the woman doing my pedicure. I instead had to have my pedicure done while my nails were being painted. Kind of made it hard to relax really. Also, the pedicure chairs were in that tiny noisy salon I mentioned earlier … not the environment I wanted for my relaxing day.
Overall a nice day, I’d highly recommend the massage and the facial, but might go elsewhere for the manicure/​pedicure.
