Subway Salon/Castagno Color

Dea did an awesome job coloring my hair yesterday! Thank you Dea!
Last month I left my coat at this salon. It was an old coat, so I didn’t bother going back for it. This week I went back and they gave it back to me! They kept it for me for a while month. How’s THAT for customer service? :-) and they did a great job on my hair as usual. Thanks subway salon/​castagno color!

I’ve been searching for a good salon in the NYC/​NJ area for a few weeks prior to finding subway salon.
Overall my experience was good, I was accomdated despite the short notice with the colorist of my choice (Frank).
The atmosphere was welcoming. The salon was pretty busy for the morning (930/​1000a) but it was pleasant.
I chose Frank because he was listed as a senior colorist and I wanted to put my hair in hands that had many years of experience.
I showed Frank a picture of the look I was going for, he did a good job. He understood I had highlights from before and opted to not go down a route that would damage my hair further. Although my balayge was nicely done, T HE COLOR OF MY BASE WAS OFF. I was looking for a more «brown» color from my already dark-​colored hair. I wanted a more drastic look than what I came out of the salon looking.
My hairstyllist Jen did a good job. She cut and styled my hair well. Understood the look I was going for and did the job right!
Overall good experience but if given the opportunity to go back and really perfect* the look I was going for, I would take it.

Always get a great haircut here. The place is always packed so you know its good. Atmosphere is nice. Easy to park in lot behind the salon. They send out coupons every once in awhile, which is appreciated.

The best haircut experience imaginable — been going to Jenn for years. I myself tend to be more of a barbershop type of guy, but the quality of the service that Subway provides is unquestionable — they’re true professionals. The people that work here look great; a lot of hot chicks, which I believe is a testament to that service. Also the facility is modern with a strong sense of class…
I’m particular with my hair, meanwhile she does exactly as I ask on a consistent basis. I always look forward to going back to see Jenn every other week, though I know all the staff is great…

HIghly recommend Frank as a colorist and Kelly as a hair cutter. Professionals that always have me leaving very excited about their work. Have been going here a long time, and they seem to sense my moods; adjusting the color and cut to match my spirits (or lift them if needed) which I love. Although the place can sometimes feel like Grand Central at rush hour, I find that I am always welcomed and when needed, accommodated.

I’m sure any «awards» that this salon has won were in exchange for some type of bribe, because this place is terrible. The coloristis and hair cutters think they are better than the customers and act like it. They rush through their services and barely give you the time of day, but think nothing of keeping you waiting between services because they decided to book a friend or a favorite customer into your slot. After I stopped going there, various people commented that my hair looks so much better now. I can“t understand how this place stays in business.

Would not recommend. I felt like I was in the middle of an assembly line and they couldn’t wait to get me out of there. There are about 40 people working in this place and it’s very chaotic. When I made the appointment I explained that I am new to the area and haven’t had a haircut in several months because of not knowing where to go and someone I work with recommended them. The colorist literally spend about 1 minuted listening to me about what color I wanted, I even brought a picture to show her and it didn’t turn out quite right, although close. What bothered me though was she quickly put the color on and moved on to the next customer. When the color was done I was turned over to the «assistant» who was an 18 year old boy who walked straight out of Jersey Shore. He washed my hair, was quite rough and splashing water on my face. He then put the «optional» glaze on my hair which I was later charged an additional $ 16 for. I was then turned over to the stylist (at no point did the colorist check the color, see if I liked it etc). I tried to explain what I wanted, showed her a photo of what my hair looked like previously since it was so grown out now yet she didn’t seem too interested. She got it pretty close but was definitely rushing and I did not feel comfortable telling her what to do to make it just right. She cut my bangs uneven, and did fix it when I asked, but I was made to feel like I was being fussy. When I asked what the $ 16 glaze charge was and explained no one asked me if I wanted this he gave me a whopping $ 5 off. All in all, I paid $ 150 for an ok cut and color. Considering I usually spend ½ as much $ and my hairdresser spends double the time making sure it’s just right, I wouldn’t recommend this place.
