The service was really good — both people behind the counter were super sweet and helpful. If you are expecting real middle eastern food this is not the spot for you. The deserts are much better than the main dishes.

This review is for an afternoon visit on a Tuesday. The falafel sandwich I ordered was delicious enough to consider coming back, but my order took about 5 minutes to make – not exactly fast-food speed but still longer than I had expected since there were no other customers. The cashier was courteous, but kind of just awkwardly and absentmindedly stood behind the cash register while I waited for my order. A mounted flat-screen or something to look at other than the menu would have been nice.

Simply Horrible! The place was empty when we walked in and when we left, we should have taken that clue to walk out the door before ordering. I ordered the Mediterranean salad, it was wilted and lacked flavor. The grilled chicken was fine, enough seasoning, but a bit burnt. It took 15 minutes for my order. My mother in law ordered the mixed grill, it looked like a bunch of slop in a tin container. The meat was dry and salty. All of the silverware and plates are disposable even if you dine in. For the salad and mixed grill with 2 cans of soda, it cost $ 29!!! Will never eat there again. The front desk person was not very knowledgeable and slow. What a waste of money. You can go to the dinner and get a better Greek salad. Pure Garbage, don’t waste your time, money or calories on tasteless, overpriced food!

Delicious food at a great price. What else can you ask for? I got the chicken kebab platter and it was delicious. I wish I’d discovered this place sooner! They make it fresh so be a little patient. Their servers are super friendly and it’s worth the wait.

Changing my initial raving review to a sub par review due to the tasteless«pita pita hawawshy» I just ordered. I’ve been a frequent customer since they opened and raved about their fresh ingredients etc. What I got today seems to be a heated up meal that is completely different from the last time I ordered it… where it freshly made and tasted great. This taste horrible. I just wasted $ 7.75. Will have to rethink this place from now on.

Got it for take out lunch today. I’m always weary about going to a place with mixed reviews, but I was in the area and didn’t want Subway. I’m glad I went here. My food is pretty good. I got the beef shawerma platter. The beef and rice are very good, the salad is meh. I also got a side of hummus. It’s a pretty generous size for the price. It’s a little salty but good. The pita bread that came with it though is very thin and chewy. So try it out, it’s pretty good.

We have been here a few times now and my favorite thing here are the grape leaves. They are served warm, which is so different(they’re served cold everywhere else I’ve had them) and the flavor is just so delicious. The proprietor is always so pleasant and food ready quickly. It’s a shame it’s all the way in East Brunswick as we are in South Brunswick but we like it enough to coordinate take from there with trips to EB.

I had stops at both Home Depot and Target, which share the same shopping area as this new-ish eatery, and thought some Mediterranean food would hit the spot. It was an off-hour(4pm) so the place was empty, but the woman behind the counter quickly hopped to it when filling my order. I went with the kofta sandwich, something I don’t often find but always enjoy when I order it. The sandwich I got was not only tasty, but the vegetables were incredibly fresh and crisp. I think it could have had a bit more kofta and a bit less vegetable, and there could have been more sauce, so the sandwich would have had better balance. Still, don’t take that to mean that I did not enjoy my meal – it was very good and worth repeating. For now I’ll keep my review at 3 stars and plan to give them another chance soon.

I met my husband here for lunch today. He’d been here a number of times and thought the food was tasty. I will agree. We had the falafel, the meat pie(sorry, don’t remember the name), and macaroni pie(veggie and meat). All were tasty. The service was very friendly. Will return when I’m in the area.

I was reading a lot of the reviews posted for this establishment, Im pretty shocked at the 5 Stars. It has to be something very special to be 5 stars. I just didn’t see it here today. I asked for a beef and lamb platter around $ 9 bucks. I noticed the lettuce was already cut and in the prep station. The two types of meat were on the rotisserie. What makes me nervous about a place is when its super slow and the employees are sitting around with nothing to do. Normally means the food is not going to be that fresh. Unless its items made to order. I have to admit the rice was probably the only item on the dish that was hot enough. Even though the lettuce was cold, it was brown from sitting in an open space in the prep station. Almost every piece of the lettuce was brown. Moving onto the meat, it was nuke warm at best. The first fork of meat I placed into my mouth had a weird texture. Almost like I was only eating fat from the meat. The meat was fully cooked and was seasoned wonderfully. I will give them that. I had to pick and choose which pieces to eat. However, it didn’t help that I felt uncomfortably sick a few hours later when I got home. I really wanted to enjoy the food. Also, if you’re requesting feedback via Unilocal,it would help if you start responding to your customers concerns or feedback is going to be pointless unless you show it thru the food quality you put out. I ate better food from a cart on the side of the road in manhattan. It’s a lot to think about. I don’t see you doing much business if you continue like this. 1 star for a nice attitude from your worker.

I came here with my sisters to get some takeout. We ordered the lamb kofta platter, some grape leaves, and babaganoush. First of all, this was the BEST babaganoush I have had in maybe ever! You get a small portion for about $ 3 and it’s just so damn tasty. The lamb kofta platter was scrumptious. The grape leaves had meat in then which was new for me, so I wasn’t a huge can, but the food was so good I plan on going back for more as much as I can when I’m in town. Staff were very kind, the premises were very clean. Overall it was such a great experience — definitely check it out. Fresh, delicious food that will not break the bank!

I’ve had the pleasure of coming back here and trying a wide variety of their menu by now. My favorites are the falafel and beef shawerma, both providing excellently balanced flavors. Their homemade lentil soup and desserts are divine. The macaroni bechamel is tasty and comforting. I found the kofta quite flavorful, though I wish they offered more than three pieces on the platter for a better ratio. Hawawshy was decent, though the shawerma and kofta had more unique flavors. Not a fan of the pita bread, but the addicting meats more than compensate. The food is cooked to order and the staff are so very friendly, even offering me an unexpected(and successfully persuasive) free soup sample. Conveniently located, definitely worth a visit, and much better than the Subway /Dominos in the vicinity.

Oddly I’ve never eaten here, HOWEVER I’ve picked up food for my wife and she liked it. That makes it review worthy. Plenty of vegetarian options at very fair prices and ready in minutes. Definitely better then the Subway next door. For $ 10 Wife enjoyed: Falafel sandwich that came with a Small side of Baba Ganoush, French Fries, and a small desert of Baklava. That’s a pretty decent dinner or lunch for the price if you ask me. I’ve recommended this place to several other friends. Some vegetarian some not and all have had positive feedback. Next time I’m in the mood for this type of food I’ll be sure to come here. Update will follow.

This place is on the route from my mom’s place to home, and I love middle Eastern food, so when I saw the grand opening sign I was thrilled and went in. The service is a bit slow for a strip mall café kind of place. I watched them making the food, though, and the slowness is because everything is made to order. They really take care with the food… when I went to the counter to pick up my food and pay, the owner insisted that I pay after I eat so that my food wouldn’t get cold. The menu is standard: falafel, shish kebab, swarma, etc. Both the falafel and lentil soup were very good, if slightly bland. Chicken shish kebab was excellent and very fresh, and I love the rice here. This isn’t the very best Middle Eastern I’ve ever had, but it’s quite good. And for lunch or takeout, it’s head and shoulders above fast food joints and chain restaurants.

I had high hopes, but reality quickly set in. First, the menu had chicken nuggets as an option for kids — Nope, she looked at me like I had lobsters coming out of my ears. Had to get my daughter some chicken wrap and paid adult portion price. I ordered the beef shawarma. It was the end of the spit, the meat wasn’t really warm. If you are thirsty, hope you want soda. Not much else to choose from, 2 exotic juices and water. Finally, two people are not enough behind the counter. My beef shawarma sat on the counter waiting for my wife and daughters chicken to be done(maybe why it wasn’t hot). Can’t say I am going back.

I honestly can say I finally found a place that makes a descent arabic taste. I ordered the falafel, which comes as 3 pieces, tahina and a few pieces of pita bread — for $ 2.00 that’s a steal. I also ordered the shawerma platter which I replaced the rice with fries — not bad at all! I took an order of macarona bil bashamel and it had that authentic Egyptian taste that I missed so much! The service was extremely friendly! The owner greeted me and was very nice. The place was clean and there was a staff member wiping down tables and sweeping. I really hope this place stays open for awhile because it’s much better than any other Arabic place I tried in East Brunswick/Milltown area.

Ate here at the suggestion from family; and I have to admit, I hope that they stay in business. Their Mediterranean fare is very good and the store is very clean. The portion sizes were also very generous. I ordered the beef shawarma sandwich and it was all very good. If this place is still open next time I will try a platter as their platters look good too. Let’s just say if I still lived in NJ, I’d be eating here almost every day.

I was unsure about this place based off the Unilocal reviews and was waiting for someone I knew to try it first to save me the effort of being disappointed. Running around doing holiday shopping on a dreary December afternoon, I decided I was done being one of those ‘wait and see’ Unilocalers and stopped by. Middle eastern guitar softly drifted over me as I pulled the door open. A large open kitchen faced the eating area, nothing fancy as far as the dining room. I was greeted warmly, and asked what they recommended. I was directed towards their koftka, which I got with tahini and tzatki(sp**). While I waited a very friendly younger girl gave me a sample of a lentil bisque to try, which was hearty and full of spice and I would probably get on my next trip. My koftka sandwich looked humble and wrapped up in pita, but inside hid a little treasure chest of flavourful meat; I instantly regretted not getting koftka every before. The meat was fantastic, the sauces, both tahini and the cucumber tzatki were quite good. Lettuce, tomato, and cucumber rode vanguard on my sandwich. Overall, I’d definitely recommend for afternoon nims. Oh, Sandwich set me back about 8 bucks, but worth it imo. The picture I took doesn’t do the sandwich justice; like I said, mild mannered on the outside but quite party once you get in. Look forward to trying the shawarma and the chicken and will update accordingly.

While it is awesome that this restaurant is family-owned, the food here is pretty sub-par. I mean, I tried the $ 6 shawarma at Mamoun Falafel restaurant and here in the same week. The consensus… Mamoun is better by leaps and bounds, even though it’s not top-of-the-line. For the price, I expected something other than overcooked meat, shredded iceburg lettuce, 2 slices of unripened tomato and tahini wrapped in pita. I really tried to like this place as the owner seems so nice. I also like supporting local businesses. But I would not come back here. And I’m scratching my head on the five-star reviews…

It’s great to have a small, family owned, clean and friendly place in East Brunswick. It’s even better that it is a place that serves my food from my favorite cuisine — middle eastern. I had lunch there once and will come back for more. I had a felafel sandwich that was pretty good. The falafels were fresh and tasty, and the veggies in the sandwich were fresh. However — the pita was dry and not very good. I like my falafel inside the pita and wrapped in it as they serve it. But that, of course, is a personal choice. Only real problem was that when asked for some regular water our server pointed at the bottles of water in the glass door fridge.
