Marshall Pomeroy Elementary School

Great Elementary school, principle, teachers and staff are great and helpful. Pomeroy PTA is one of the best, lots of fun activities for kids.

3.5 stars, but I’ll round up for the teachers. I went here for 7 years and so has my little brother. I’ve had great (and not so great) experiences and so has my brother (we are 9 years apart). I feel the school has diminished in quality over the years, but that’s mainly due to budget cuts! I received free hearing tests, lice checks, LOTS of field trips, dental crap like toothpaste/​floss, but my little brother only experienced a few field trips. Those darn cuts!
For the most part, the TEACHERS (most of them) are very nice and give excellent feedback during those oh so exciting parent teacher conferences. My favorite teachers (that I had myself or my brother had) here were Falconer, Hill, and Brown. Ms. Handy was something else (idk if i liked her or couldn’t stand her!) and those who have had her as a substitute teacher at Milpitas High School can definitely vouch for me. Whatever my brother and I sucked in, they definitely acknowledged it! They were awesome and pointed out what we thrived in as well. When I attended the school we went on many FIELD TRIPS and I felt they were really important and helped build myself as a person, and most importantly were fun! Unfortunately, I noticed my brother went on a lot less trips and I did. Their DISCIPLINE SYSTEM is great, three strikes and you get detention (pull a slip!), you have at least 1 and you get to go to Friday Club! I also very much appreciated the FREE TUTORING that was offered to my little brother whenever he was falling behind in a subject.
The school can definitely improve on a few things. I remember as a kid, the SECRETARIES in the office were always so mean and scary. Calling in for my brother because he was sick and speaking to the secretaries, I noticed they also seemed a little stuck up. Enjoy your job a little! I also feel the ACADEMIC STANDARDS should be raised a bit. Sometimes I would notice on my brother’s report card he would perform at the ‘satisfactory’ level, yet when I tested him on material myself he seemed to need improvement. I also felt like my brother didn’t have a good language arts/​english education because he went onto middle school without knowing the basic components of an essay. I’m assuming 6^th graders should have that knowledge as I was taught the basics of essay writing in 4^th grade.
Overall, the teachers are outstanding. They always demonstrate a strong connection with students and are dedicated to their work. If you send your kid here though, I would strongly recommend you read to them and engage yourself as much as possible with extra homework/​readings as the school needs to work the kids a bit harder.

I’ve always hated this schoo, people there were ALWAYS bitches to me, and their rules are total BS.
