Had the opportunity to witness him work at my buddy’s wedding and though it was a young crowd he found time to play some oldies for the older guest to get involved in the fun. Awesome personality overall. Hire this guy.

Joel with Selection Entertainment did an awesome job on our wedding!!! He was highly recommended to me by a friend. What’s great about his company is it is a one stop shop, that can provide all you needs for any parties from the music, photography, projector, screen, lighting, etc. Joel also offered his company to DJ our fundraising event for our mission. It’s heartwarming to know that he has the generosity to do such thing to help those in need. A good wedding needs good entertainment and Joel provided our guests with good music to groove to all evening. Joel was very professional, quickly adapted to changes throughout the evening, and provided excellent recommendations to keep the show going smoothly.

We have been engaged for 1.5 years and our wedding planning began right away. On top of our list of priorities was to secure a top notch DJ/​MC and so of course we turned to Unilocal,since we live and die by this app. Amongst the list of 5-​star DJ/MC’s on our shortlist, Joel’s reviews really stood out to us. People kept raving about his professionalism, organization, ability to engage the crowd, etc. We booked him over a year in advance, A YEAR IN ADVANCE. It was one of the best decisions we made during the wedding planning process.
There were a lot of high tension moments with our fiery bridesmaids and stubborn groomsmen, but Joel made sure it did not affect us. He accommodated last minute changes (literally last minute) and we somehow managed to get through all of our planned events even though we started an hour late!
All of our guests keep talking about how much fun they had and how awesome Joel was that night. I can go on and on about the Dj’s magic, but for the brevity of this review just remember we booked him A YEAR IN ADVANCE for a reason…

Joel is killing it. He is one of a kind. I hired him because he was down to earth, professional, and on point. If you want a DJ who can host, play good music, and keep people dancing, this is your man.
When my wife and I met with him to DJ for our wedding, we told him exactly what we wanted and what we were unsure about. He comes prepared with questions and ideas to make things perfect. He also follows up. When we asked about other services we were looking for, Joel was able to provide referrals.
More important than that, he can be in two places at once. He’s a ninja. We had a ceremony in the park at 4PM and a banquet to follow. He was able to transition between the two seemlessly. When things need to be switched up on the fly, Joel can handle it.

Joel DJed our wedding in July and from start to finish he was very professional and down to earth. He was able to provide many services that other DJs don’t and at very competitive prices.

DJ JOEL/​Strive, our wedding would not have been the same without you there. I’ve never been to a wedding where the dance floor was never empty and I’m glad to say that it was my own.
Joel was easy to work with. If you know me, I have a very specific taste in music & really wanted the whole 90’s R&B vibe to shine through, with a good amount of Motown, Trap, Top 40, and Filipino Family Party-​friendly music mixed in. Sounds like a tall order & it was, but Joel made it work and made my dream wedding a reality. There was literally nothing he couldn’t do! His whole team was great, as was his dj setup (ON TWO FLOORS!), and uplighting, Gobo, etc. At one point, he was also our MC and worked the 300+ crowd extremely well.
It’s safe to say that we’ll be working with Joel in the future at whatever crazy events we end up having.
One word of advice to you Unilocalers!: Book him now! He’s booked like every day of the week. Seriously.

Hired Joel to do my Bat Mitzvah and nothing he was nothing sort of professional. Of course I didn’t expect him to have any traditional Hebrew songs in his playlist, but I provided him with all the appropriate music for the formal part of the ceremony and he was awesome. After the ceremony we were able to boogie down to an eclectic mix of chacha, old school, and even a little rock music… he even got my Uncle Mick grooving out. A+

I recently attended a birthday event and the whole Next Selection Entertainment business provided their own professional lights and DJ equipment! I thought the whole set up was incredible which the lights showcased the dance floor and the whole area of the room.
They all have a variety of different types of music catering to all ages, and they are all willing to accommodate to any requests that are given by the hosts or guests! Some music genres included Old School Hip-​Hop, 80’s & 90’s music, Reggae, Top Hits, EDM, & etc.
All in all, you can tell that Joel and the whole staff are all talented, organized and entertaining when it comes to DJ-​ing any event! I definitely recommended booking Joel and his team for any upcoming events because they all know how to please the crowd to the unique live mixes they have to offer!

If you believe music is the pulse to every party, DJ Strive’s skillz made a recent wedding I attended come alive. It was hard to not want to dance to every thoughtfully, perfectly timed track he played.
From the tracks picked for the bridal party entrance music, to when he ‘threw it back’ to some OG chacha, 90s music, and good vibes songs you can’t help but dance to — Joel was on point. A large part of why the wedding was so fun was because I couldn’t stop body rolling and going ‘AYYYYY’ every. single. time.
Wouldn’t be surprised if I catch him at another event, because every party should set their bar for a good time as high as his.

Joel is very professional and about his business. I’ve known Joel for a while and he is very attentive to details and well connected in the industry with venues and relationships.
Not only that but Joel is versatile in his skills and is very adaptive to the situation. He’s great for weddings and live events. I recommend him quite a bit to my videography clients.

What to say, it’s pretty simple: great vibe, good energy, great music, and good people that displays talent behind the beats. AMAZING, FUN and very PROFESSIONAL! I have had the pleasure of attending a few parties that Next Selection Entertainment has DJed at and I have to say that I have not experienced better DJs.
They keep the music going with exactly what the crowd is feeling. They transform the party venue with their up-lighting…different colors to fit the theme.
I have to say, hands down, they are the «party-​pros» and with everything that they offer, their prices are extremely reasonable.

I used to work in the nightlife promotional industry, listening to new DJs on the daily, and Joel’s work definitely stands out. One of the key elements for a successful DJ is being in tune with your audience — understanding the vibe and feel of the crowd for the evening, and incorporating it into your mixes. Joel’s intuition of his audience and unique mixes completely change the atmosphere of any event by energizing the crowd.
Along with being extremely professional and punctual, he also supplies his own equipment and mixes all his music live, instead of the pre-​recorded mixes commonly used by most DJs these days. His years of industry experience and extensive knowledge of all genres of music is a rarity — no matter what event, Joel has the perfect mix of music for the occasion.

Booked Joel for my cousin’s wedding last November and I must say he was a great choice. Joel was very easy to work with especially since he had to travel down to San Diego for this wedding. He provided his own equipment and everything worked out great. The reception was a bit complicated because Joel had to share time with the live band with language barriers but he made it work and was able to have to crowd dancing all night.
He was able to cater to the bride’s music selection and basically put up with a band that was hogging play time. Overall I would definitely recommend Joel for all your party entertainment needs. Besides being an awesome Dj, Joel is a cool guy all around and will cater to your needs so long as you tell him.

I went to my cousins wedding a while ago. The dj that was spinning did an amazing job. I made sure I got his business card just in case I needed a dj. A few months go by and my friend needed a really good dj for his wedding. My friend was very pleased with my recommendation when he had his wedding. He told me his style was great. So I’m writing this Unilocal review for dj Joel because he deserves the recognition.
So if you are in the South bay or San Jose, Milpitas, Campbell or surrounding areas give Joel a call. He’s very friendly and personable.

Book DJ Joel for all your events! I first heard him spin at a corporate holiday party in the East Bay and he was really unique because he throws in hit 80’s and 90’s songs/​beats along with modern hip hop /​dance tracks. Most DJ’s can’t do this.
He is also has all his own equipment and never messes up. He spins locally in Campbell for popular bars and restaurants too. Prices are also great. Highly recommend for all your DJ needs in the Bay.
