Simplicity In Sound

Not necessarily a review more like a question!
I’ve been looking for a shop that does iPad indash installations and was wondering if you guys did any and if so what would the price be for an install in a 2012 Nissan Maxima?

What can I say? Bing is a complete wizard.
It’s quite refreshing finding someone whom is an expert at what they do. There are just too many audio shops that do an okay job at installing and selling you the equipment. Their goal is to get your money, spend a few minutes «tuning» the system and getting you out as fast as possible. Time is money.
So over the summer, I started emailing him letting him know I was interested in building an sq (sound quality) set-​up in my car. Basically the first thing he mentioned was he needed to know my budget and he could work around that.
Unfortunately, I am extremely picky when it comes to sound and decided to double my original budget to make sure I wouldn’t be disappointed. Sometimes budget isn’t as important as when it comes to sq. If you’re going to do it, you might as well do it right.
After leaving my car with him for 2 ½ weeks, I was blown away. The setup and the quality of the build is just incredible. The fit and finish, along with the wiring and that «oem» look is flawless. Honestly its the most accurate system I’ve ever heard, instruments just come alive, you just constantly feel like you’re sitting a listening to a live concert. What’s more amazing is how if you increase the volume, there is absolutely no distortion… it just gets louder. The sound is airy and extremely natural, with zero harshness. The bass is so perfect that it just blends in with each song and doesn’t take away from the whole listening experience.
Overall I couldn’t be more satisfied. Bing is extremely professional, more knowledgeable than I could ever imagine, and a master at building you exactly what you want.
Tips:
1. Wait list for them to work on your vehicle can take months
2. Deposit is required (this is for serious people)

I want to take some time to say a big thank you to Bing for working on my car. The work he did and the detail he put in his work is amazing. From the start Bing was very professional and kind, I told him what I was looking for in my build and he explained clearly what the process will be and how long the wait will be. I was preparing to wait 6 month for him to start my build but to my surprise I was lucky he gave me a 3 months window. Once he started working on my car he gave me a time frame on when the car will be done. From my past experience when they say 2 weeks it will mean 3 weeks but nope Bing said 1 ½ weeks and he got it done right one time, now that’s what I call service.
Let me start off by telling you my audio journey was a rough one, I had my new car for about a year now and already had 4 shops around the bay area work on it. In the end I was never happy with their install and left me wanting more. I also had some high end gears installed in the car but I never achieved the sound level that Bing did for me. I can finally rest because Im extremely happy with what I have now. If I ever buy another car I will go directly to Bing.
Do yourself a favor and go to the best which is Simplicity In Sound otherwise you will waste more money and time like I did.

So what can I say that hasn’t been said already. The story starts like this. Buddy sends me a link to one of SIS builds. I’m simply blown away by the attention to detail. The following contact them. Set up an appointment. Put down the deposit and wait.
I honestly was ready for it to be s long wait. As in 5 – 7 months. Bing contacts be ht little under two months. I breakdown what I have and what id like in my setup. He gives me a straight forward opinion of what is best in order to achieve my expectations. There is a little bit of shuffling, but the day arrives to drop off my car. Mind you I personally thought my car sounded above decent (boy was I wrong).
As I wait «patiently» I contact Bing to ask him about upgrading my battery. He honest and direct and says its not needed. Mind you I was probably on the «lower» end of the installs he does. So nothing against his skills. I was just not expecting what I got.
The outcome was flawless. A simple flush mounted 5 channel amp with a 10″ subwoofer. Just the right amount of show I was looking for. Yet could all be covered it with a single panel. I wanted this upgrade to be fully active. So Jesse rewired everything as clean as can be. They meticulously dampened my back panel. The tweeters were molded to the dash. In summary. I got stuck in trafic on my way back. Could of cared less. Every song I heard, it was as if I had heard it for the first time. I was hesitant at first. In hindsight there was no reason at all. As many have said. Bing, Jesse and Joey (sldidnt have the pleassure to meet). Take they’re installs to a whole new level.
If you are truly looking for quality. There simply is no other option. My car is truly a rolling studio. I simply cannot say enough to thank SIS for helping me create visually and more importantly sonically the system of my dreams. If I’m lucky I wont break it by simply playing it so much… :)
Update is needed: About 2 weeks after having issues with my install. In the sense of front channels cutting out. I assured myself it was a persistent problem before contacting Bing. As I aware these guys are constantly busy on project after project. Bing was more than responsive to my concern. Asking me specific questions to try and diagnosis the issue. The problem continued so Bing suggested I go in and habve it looked at. I was hesistant again due to taking up their time but he was more than happy to see how to solve my issue. Jesse went in literally ran through the wiring and made adjustments. This happened over 2 weeks ago. Since not a single issue. The willingness by Jesse and Bing to address my concern showed me these guys truly care about their work and go the extra mile to make sure things are to a customers satisfaction. The setup, sound and visuals of my install still bring a grin to my face. Thank you SIS.

I’ve know about Bing’s spectacular work from friend’s vehicles in the past and I’ve spoke with him the past something to do with my car one day. Well one day came when I removed my old system after my son was born and that gave way for what is in the car now. My main concern was space in the trunk since I had to fit a jogging stroller and whatever baby gear that may also be needed. With having a previous system in my car and with technology always changing I decided to go with some recommendations by Bing and also some items I needed/​wanted. Before the build even took place Bing had be listen to one of the cars he was working on with similar equipment. Not only was the sound quality and staging impressive, but the installation was superb and styling complemented the vehicle. The team at Simplicity In Sound is very professional and courteous and even before my vehicle was completed the SIS team did me a favor by installing a backup camera for my dad’s truck while working on my car so that I could present it to him for his birthday.
For all my future vehicles as well as for my friends and family I will always recommend SIS.

Even though I have never had any work directly conducted by Bing and his crew, but he has done much more for me. I have been getting advise and help from him for many years. He is highly knowledgeable, very detailed orientated, and always wiling to answer any questions you may have. I am currently working on my second build using equipment suggested by Bing, even with the many questions I had, he still answered them in a timely manner and always gave the best advices. I had the opportunity to work with SIS on my SC400. Very professional, clean install, completed on time and on budget. I think the whole team goes above and beyond as it it shows in their work. They completely documented every part of the install and I have never had an issue with it since it was done nearly a year ago.
If you are interested in having the work done right the first time it is well worth every dollar you spend. Of course you will have to wait in line as many people ship their cars across country for these guys to work on.

I met up with Bing through a mobile audio forum. We talked shop for a while and then discussed possible build options as I didn’t have a whole lot of space to play with. At the time, I thought I would have the time to construct the build on my own — that dream didn’t last very long. Bing was not pressuring like a lot of shops I’ve dealt with in the past. He indicated that if I had any questions, or, needed advice to just ask.
I reached back out to Bing to check his availability and made an appointment. I found out we were neighbors which made it that much easier to coordinate. Given that I didn’t have a lot of space to play with, Bing came up with a design that met all of my requirements and exceeded my expectations. He is very knowledgeable and his work is on point. He especially has an eye for detail and will work within any ones budget.
As long as SIS is in business, they will have my business.

Bing and Joey are all about SQ and true professionalism! I had my 2011 E93 M3 vert outfitted with a special kit to replace and augment stock without modifying anything structurally. The installation was super clean and everything was hidden. There was a problem with a footwell light module that needed to be reset after disconnecting the battery and Bing and Joey went to great lengths to help troubleshoot the issue when my dealer simply wouldn’t deal with it. Bing even provided me a loaner rental while the issue was being corrected.
The sound system was awesome! A difference between night and day. I’m about to put down a deposit for a custom sub because Bing’s waiting list goes well into spring of next year.

If you are looking for the best of the best to do your install, simplicity in sound is it. These guys are masters of installation and tuning of car audio systems. I had them plan, install and tune my system and it was far beyond my expectations the attention to detail, tuning, and deep knowledge of car audio equipment where amazing.
Simplicity in sound are one of the few businesses around these days that is owned and operated by professionals and driven by a passion for what they do.
I cannot recommend them highly enough; if you are serious about car audio this is the place to go.

When I was planning my audio system in my 2007 350z, I contacted Bing being that I had seen his work on so many other 350z’s via forums. The only problem was that he was located over 500 miles away and I didn’t really want to make the drive nor did I trust any of my local installers to work on my car. But it didn’t matter, Bing was willing to work with me no matter the distance so I sent him my stock b-​pillars and kick panels and he did an excellent job making them into truly custom audio pieces. Then all I had to do was put them back in as if they were stock panels. Not to mention he gave me a great deal on some illusion audio carbon c6 component speakers and an illusion audio c10xl sub woofer. What Bing gave me would have cost almost double anywhere else. The cost for work here may be more than your average stereo shop but the saying «you get what you pay for» has never been so true.

I came to Simplicity In Sound with some very clear requirements for my 350z Roadster. I told the team that I wanted clean crisp sound and high volume due to the nature of convertibles being noisy on the freeway and me not hearing anything while driving with the stock sound system.
I made it clear that I wanted a very stock look and wanted to keep everything in the car as serviceable as possible, since it’s very common for window motors and such to go out on these cars.
The installers did a very professional job with everything, even down to the wiring in the engine bay. I did encounter a few rattles a week or two after the installation, and the team over at Simplicity In Sound would not give up until I was 100% satisfied.

So short story I have LOVED car audio since the early 90s and since the year 2000 I have had 4 cars ruined by San Jose install shops. Everything from scratched interior to poor workmanship to buzzing speakers. Needless to say my love for car audio has been ripped from my heart and taken hostage… until now…
MEETING Bing:
Gotta give a big THANK YOU to Jason for putting me in touch with BIng. I had purchased a brand new 2013 TDi and wanted nothing more then to add a sub. Bing worked with the budget I had and recommended the amp and sub combo he thought would meet my needs (I asked for massive amounts of bass) I understand the SiS crew really does more high end SQ builds, but hell I’ll never grow out of rattling my brain on my commute. I have high end headphones when I want to be all proper ;p This is when I met JOey…
MEETING JOey:
JOey has seriously been the best person I have ever had to deal with in ANY industry. He went above and beyond what I originally thought I was getting and literally worked on my car past midnight for 4 days straight (Who the F does that???) I’m sure they don’t get too many requests for evil stuff to be added into a build but I did ask for an old school executioner’s axe to be implemented somehow. JOey came through big time, he made a panel that has an AXE (see pic) and also made it so I can replace it with different panels, he ALSO made me an extra panel to use as a template. Words can’t even express my gratitude. I knew life was going to be good when JOey threw on some EZ-​E and the bass coming from my car was absolutely distortion and rattle free haha. If I could only get away with wearing an N.W.A. hat I prolly would that’s how happy I am with this build. Ask JOey about the amazing progress pictures he tortured me with as I waited for my car to be finished…
Equipment:
I was VERY hesitant going with components I have never heard of and honestly had a hard time finding information about online… I said F it and put all my trust in these guys and have ZERO regrets. I am absolutely blown away with the distortion free output on this subwoofer /​amp combo.
Arc Audio KS300.2 Bridged into 700 watts to an Audiomobile Elite 2210 10″ SUB in a custom fiberglass box. I provided an LC2i for a LOC.
OVERALL:
My car is 4 weeks new and there wasn’t one moment I was worried that it was sitting with them. If you know me in person then you know I don’t trust anyone, especially car folks. I am glad to say the dynamic duo of car audio has restored my faith in this biz haha
If you love audio and love your car you owe it to yourself to spend the money and get it done right by these guys. Don’t even bother gambling your hard earned cash with other San Jose chop shops.

I have to say, this is one of thee most amazing set of people you will ever meet that does custom car audio.
I have, probably one of, thee most skeptical points of view in this world. I’ve had a lot of audio work done to my other car. I’ve heard nothing but good things about Bing and Joey and how good this place is. I use to go to CK auto, compared to these guys, that place is a mickey mouse operation. I’m never going back there (CK AUTO).
Anyway, onto my story — Extremely skeptical, check. Extremely paranoid, check. Extremely hesitant about anyone touching my car, check. Extremely etc etc etc negative — ALL CHECKED!
Dropped my car off after verifying how long it’s going to take and how much money it was worth. I’m on a tight budget so the amount of money was not something to throw over the fence in my case. I gave in, mind you I came from bad installations that cost under 1k to do. Always unhappy with the final result after a couple of days.
So this to me was a big deal, the amount money being proposed and spent was crazy, since i’ve never dealt with anything high end.
Let me tell you, These guys BLEW me out of the water with their install. They took the time and money, and also plenty of patience to draw me far from the point of no return. Even though the build was simplified, very basic system. The time they took to fabricate, customize, and ensure that you are getting what you paid for is COMPLETELY worth it. They cover all custom work and added a few things that I didn’t even think about. This is where all the money comes in.
You tell them what you want, and they draw a plan that will always, always blow your mind. No matter how little or how much you spend. I did go over what I wanted to intentionally spend, but I can tell you EVERY Penny was worth it. They could have charged me a bit more, but they helped me work through my budget. Not a drop in the bucket for your every day blue collared worker, but if you have the money for even a decent low end system, work with them. They will help.
One thing I love about their work is that they will not only install the products that they promised, but make sure that the install is correct, no loose ends, no funny business. ENTIRE package for you. Nothing to think about at the end, just power on the fun and go.
I want to personally thank you Bing and Joey, and definitely look for my business in the near future as I will want you guys to rip apart my camry and put it back together again!
If you are looking for an audio design and solution’s expert, go to these guys. They will do everything they can. They love their work, they are passionate about what they do, and most importantly of all they take tremendous pride in what they are going for. You will NEVER be unhappy with these guys. My husband had two of his immaculate cars done at Simplicity In Sound. Both cars had completely different styles, and the custom built sound systems matched beyond my greatest imagination. I have to say, I never thought I would get this excited about sound systems!
I am so impressed with the look and feel of the custom designs; I can tell a lot of meticulous labor went into every square inch. With the first car, I was nervous because I didn’t want anything unusual to change his beautiful Porsche. However, when we got it back, I was blown away by the features, the enhanced look, and the attention to details in which this shop really employed. The car never looked better. Then, upon hearing the sound, I was taken by emotion because I had never heard such crisp instruments and vocals. I remember saying «Wow, I never knew it could be this good.»
I was so happy that my husband upgraded his car, we started creating fun places to drive to just so we can sit together on those long roads listening to our favorite sounds. I was enthusiastic about the second car, and knew that our brand new baby was in good hands. When we got it back, I was astonished that the shop managed to build an incredibly stealth system to match the look and feel of the second car, as requested. It’s easily revealed to people we want to see it. For our friends and family, it’s a show stopper. The look on their faces when we reveal our stunning sound masterpiece is of awe and contemplation. They wonder how they can get one.
The sound itself is remarkable, I love to show it off because I can guarantee that everyone who listens to our system will say within minutes «It sounds like we’re in the studio» or «It’s like we’re at a concert» or «I never heard that instrument before». We seriously download music and go sit in the car to listen because it’s like having our own private cushy studio. I joke that it looks like a car, but it’s a studio on wheels. The shop sets it up so that the sound is amazing no matter where you are in the car. For a gal that never knew I could enjoy quality sound so much, in hindsight I have to say it’s because I never heard quality sound until now. The clarity of the sound and craftsmanship of this shop is unreal. Ladies, you need to experience the cars that come out of this shop.

Bing is an audio install god. I had brought my G35 to him about 7 years ago to redo an audio setup done by a extremely sub par company. I told Bing what I wanted and what type of music I listened to. Bing worked with my budget and made professional suggestions. Having seen several other setups he had done in the G35, I was confident that my car was in very good hands. I was very eager the day I went to pick up my car as it was almost like x mas and there was a big present under the tree for me. The looks and sound of the install was beyond my expectations. I am a basshead and have had many systems that can shatter windows. What Bing was able to achieve was a system that had great sounding mids and highs from only a single front stage and very good bass fill coming from a single 10′ sub. On top of all of this was the fact that I had the use of my whole trunk which is always a plus. Bing is very detailed oriented and does not take any shortcuts. He takes many pictures of his installs and writes up an install blog each time. Bing has a true passion for audio and always makes the customer feel like that they will never need to go anywhere else again.
I recently decided to put air suspension in my car and knew that my current setup would not work. I knew that Bing was in the process of opening up a new shop and set up a time to drop off my car so he can work his magic once again. What was supplied to him was air compressors, tanks and several other air parts. I told him what I needed and the rest was well taken care of. When I picked up my car, I was completely blown away with the end result. Bing, again, went above and beyond to make sure that the install was just want I wanted and turned my trunk into a work of art. The end result was completely different that my previous layout in which Bing had used some new templates, ingenuity, and years and years of industry skills. My main goal was to integrate my air components, add some LED lights and allow me access to get to air components hidden below. Goal met and exceeded! Bing had wired up some power drops and other various connections I would need to power up the air setup. The way he designed the layout so that it was as clean as can be and still allow me access was on the money. I even had him set up a way for me to wire up a separate battery at car shows. As with typical Bing style, this was done as simple and clean as possible with nothing visible once the hidden panel was installed. I know this will turn heads everywhere.
I will only send people to Simplicity in Sound for any audio needs they have. Now that Bing has a super experienced co-​owner at the shop, the possibilities are endless.

With the recent expansion of Simplicity in Sound into a brick and mortar shop, the venue is truly state of the art, with the highest caliber of tools to do the job right. But the venue is only half the story. Bing is very fortunate to recruit an equally impressive install god from the east cost, Mr. Joey Knapp as a business partner/​co-​owner. Joey brings new ideas and techniques to Simplicity in Sound, and the two of them truly formed a world class shop. I am one of the first fortunate customers that benefited from this new partnership. My build is a medium budget build, but received world class wiring and sound deadening that is equal to many of their higher budget builds. Joey’s metal fabrication skills also made its way into my car, giving me a beautiful hand welded amp rack that is strong and beautiful, not taking up any trunk space at all. To diffentiate my build from others, Joey spent extra hours and effort into customizing a truly unique subwoofer enclosure for me, and they really went the distance. Needless to say, I am extremely satisifed as a customer. Not only does my car sound great, but it is an artwork as well.

Bing is a very knowledge installer, and is flexible in how to go about your budget for a build. Bing is all about SQ although can lean to the side of SPL if you want a build for it.
Bing loves to simplify (hence the business name) wiring and installation, and keep the trunk usable. This was a plus for me as I didn’t want to expose all my stuff, and wanted to keep using my trunk as much as possible.
I have taken my Volvo to him twice in the past. My first build was a simple JL Audio setup (subs installed by me) with 5.25″ kicks that Simplicity in Sound made. The kicks were made well and designed not to intrude too much in the feet well. I was amazed how my feet in my driving position adapted to the kicks installed.
My second build had more of Simplicity in Sound touches. New 6.5″ kicks in front with full Elemental Designs speakers, subs, and amps. I have six 6.5″ subs in the trunk running on a NiNe.1. Although Elemental Designs shut down, their speakers and subs sounded amazing for their size. The install was wired in a clean format, clean enough to do your own troubleshooting to trace down any issues. I recently had to change out my amp and tested the wiring that was done.
He was originally from the East Coast and moved out to California within the last 7 years. He use to to all his installs at home but now has this new facility that can do more than one car at a time.

Simplicity In Sound = Simply the Best
Folks who know me know that I am picky when it comes to audio. I’m also very picky about who works on my car. Until I met Bing, I’d never considered having someone install any equipment, (especially audio) in any of my vehicles. (I’d been a hard core DIYer before that — not to say that I was ever really skilled in that though…)
Simplicity in Sound is the only company I trust to work on my vehicles. Bing (and now Joey: D) provide the highest level of service I’ve ever seen in the industry. I recommend them with no reservations if you are looking for quality installation, amazing service, and exceptional value.
