Teaspoon

Same Teaspoon goodness, but now located in a dead looking Milpitas strip mall. The first Teaspoon I’ve ever been to was the one in Los Altos, and I’m a big fan of their Rice Tea with Creama.
This Teaspoon is pretty small and has a few seating spaces. Same menu as the other places, but I noticed they actually offer a distinction between salty and unsalty creama, which was the first I had seen relative to their Los Altos and SF locations.
The tea came out in a reasonable amount of time and tasted just as good as it always does. It doesn’t seem to get much traffic, but then again, I went on a random weekday afternoon so most people were probably at work, so it was a good place for me to just sit and catch up with a friend.
tldr; tea is as consistent as their other chains, pretty good tea — brewed from real tea!

Another summer, another boba spot opening near Downtown San Jose, this time tucked in the heart of Milpitas where the Paris Baguette and L&L are. It took over Sweet Cup, who made the best Thai tea in my opinion, so that’s rather disappointing.
That aside, it’s time for something new, and Teaspoon makes some quality boba. At that, they’re also at a rather premium price.
When I went, it was still considered their Grand Opening, so I was able to take advantage of a BOGO deal by checking in via Facebook. I ended up ordering the Virgin Mojito as well as the White Crystal, and I also got a Husky Sundae, because I figure I had to buy something else since I got a free drink.
Did I drink both of the drinks and eat the entire snow thingy? Yes, I did. I was on vacation with a trip to Hawaii a few days later, so yeah. Guilt free.
The Virgin Mojito was extremely refreshing, while the white crystal had a good sweet taste to it. If you ask me, though, the crystal boba is doing a little much and it might have affected the flavor in a sort of negative way. It didn’t taste bad, but I’m not going to order it again if I ever go back.
The husky sundae was about what you expect from snow. It’s good, light, and the chocolate syrup and mochi added to the excuse of a flavor that was the strawberry. I was never a snow guy. Guess I’ll never be.
Anyway, the quality of the drinks here will keep people coming back, but I just don’t think these Silicon Valley prices will keep the store open unless they plan on doing promos all the time… which isn’t that great of a thing either. It’s also pretty small, so don’t expect to chill here. This place is pretty much stop-​and-​go.

So happy I finally got to try this place out! I was having lunch in the same plaza and decided to grab some boba after my meal. It was around 2−3pm and the line was out of the door, only because the shop is actually quite small. It has a few tables but most people just order, stand to wait for their drinks, and leave.
This is your typical boba spot with the typical boba drinks selection along with some others. Like most places, you can also choose and make your own drinks. But I was too lazy so… I picked the Liquid Gold, because it sounded good and also because of the name. It’s basically an oolong tea with honey. I got half sweet thinking it was going to be to too sweet, but I was wrong. But it was still good though and had a very strong tea flavor, which I do like. But just remember to get the full 100% sweetness because my friend also got the same thing and got 100% and it was definitely better.
Overall, I do like this place and hope to come back soon! Their drinks are good and refreshing. Can’t wait to try their other drinks next time!

I hella appreciate that they have tea choices such as Hojicha and Jasmine Japanese rice… I LOVE the more «earthy» tasting teas, so I was really impressed with their selection. Don’t come here expecting Tpumps fruity syrups. My biggest criteria for legitimately *good* milk tea is a good selection of teas. Huge applaud to Teaspoon!
My bf ordered one of their curated drinks that had white boba (the «healthy» boba made from seaweed) and it was really, really good! I kept drinking his instead of my own lol. I ordered a simple Jasmine Japanese rice tea, 25% sweetness. Honestly, it tasted like 0% sweetness, so I would order «up» on your normal sweetness. Custom drinks start at $ 4 (toppings are $ 0.50/each), while Teaspoon’s recipes are $ 4. It’s worth it to get their drinks. Unfortunately, both of our drinks’ teas were steeped for too long and tasted over steeped and bitter.
The environment is slightly more nice than the average boba shop. No TVs, not a lot of seating (more for smaller parties), no games, and no food. Not a really «lounge» type of boba shop that would be plagued by teenagers after school or guys that vape LMAO.
I’ll have to come back again to see the consistency of their over steeping, and I’d love to be able to give their boba a try (my second biggest criteria)! They’re in the run for a 5 star from me :)

First and definitely my last time here. This is probably the worse boba place I’ve ever tried and that opinion does not only come from me, but also the others that were there with me.
For an after dinner treat, I wanted some pearl tea. I had passed by this place before when they had their grand opening. The line was out the door and I think they were having a special promotion. In my mind, I’m thinking that this place must be really good for that to be.
Fast forward a few weeks. We come in, order three of their specialty drinks — the virgin mojito (lychee), the grasshopper, and the sweet marshmallow.
The virgin mojito was overly sweet even though I got regular level of sugar and the mint overpowered everything. The grasshopper basically tasted like cucumber water. We couldn’t find much lychee flavoring at all. The worse one was the sweet marshmallow. Tasted like watered down caramel, and again it was incredibly sweet. I swear I think they were all trying to give us diabetes. If I had known their normal sugar level was that much, I would have ordered the drinks with none at all.
Sorry but I feel like these drinks are a little too exotic for my taste. Give me a simple lychee green tea any time.

I’ve never been to any other location, but I think the tea quality is pretty good here. I liked the marshmallow one and they have a lot of unique options. I believe I got either 50% sweet and I remember thinking that it wasn’t very sweet in comparison to other places, so maybe I’ll try the next level up next time. Saw this in other Unilocalers’ reviews as well, so maybe it’s not just me.
When I went during their opening BOGO promotion, it was packed and took awhile to get my drink. I agree w/​others that there’s not much space to wait for your drink. I’m sure usually when it’s not that busy, it’s no problem, but I felt like I was imposing by standing like literally 1 ft from the people trying to chill at the tables in the back.
I love the décor in here, it’s modern and whimsical.
I’ll definitely stop by again on my way home from work. It’s not likely to become my go-​to spot just because it’s not the most convenient for off-​and-​on the freeway (due to the traffic and signals and big parking lot), but I’ll be back to try more of their drink options.

I’ve been to the location in Los Altos plenty times before, but when ordering the same drink I always order, they weren’t able to make it for some reason? They simply just told me they could not make it.
I asked for a lychee peach green tea in the «grasshopper» as opposed to the regular lychee green tea that it comes with. I work at a boba shop myself and know this is possible. The cashier didn’t even try to ask her coworkers if this was possible, she just assumed they couldn’t do it.
On top of that, I ordered half mango popping boba and half yogurt popping boba as a topping but they ended up charging me 50cents for each topping and gave me the full portion and I just ended up having half a cup of popping boba which isn’t appetizing at all. If there isn’t a half topping option you guys should look into that.
I may seem a little finicky about my drink but knowing that I get it perfect every time at the Los altos location and ended up getting it subpar at this one is just not okay.

Another day, another boba place to try.
I’m a sucker for quotes and puns so I personally liked all the décor, especially the cups. We walked in right about 11am and it was fairly empty still but it still took a good amount of waiting to get 4 drinks– took so long that we actually went off to Paris Baguette to browse.
House milk tea — Kudos for having lactose free milk options on the menu! I got 75% sweet and thought it was delicious. Stronger tea than milk taste which I love. Milk tea is almost comparable to Fantasia!
Sweet Marshmallow — Description on the menu is marshmallow black tea with cream which sounded interesting. I was disappointed with the actual taste though. There was no distinct marshmallow taste and it just tasted a lot sweeter version of the house milk tea. I would pass on this drink and just get the house milk tea with 100% sweet if you want a sweeter milk tea.
We wanted the creamy jasmine as well but somehow they said their computers were not working so they were unable to make it. Not sure if it’s a long term issue but hopefully it gets fixed so people are able to order that drink.
Overall, cute little boba place and I would definitely come again if I lived closer.

I love teaspoon. I was going to try a new drink but I got my go to: mango Virgin mojito. (I promise next time I’ll get a new drink)
But this place never fails to fulfill my tea cravings including on a hot day in the bay.

We came here for the BOGO deal (May 21-​June 5) so it was a great chance to try it out. I originally tried Teaspoon at a another location but it wasn’t memorable so I was willing to give it another try per a friend’s recommendation.
I’ve tried the Creamy Jasmine, Grasshopper, Liquid Gold, and Mango Mojito. They were all pretty decent and pretty fresh. The honey boba were good because it was very soft and chewy.
I don’t know why but the sweetness level was not on point for me, either it was too sweet or not sweet after adjusting for the sweetness on the drinks each time. However, the service here is pretty fast despite the long lines so that’s a plus.
Overall, come and give it a try because they have unique drinks. They have snow ice here too.

Thai tea with boba and grass jelly. Very very watered down tea. Chewy boba and average grass jelly. Cool tea bar has the softest grass jelly I know of. They have a bogo promo going on due to their grand opening. Like and share their fb page to get it. Maybe the tea was watered down because it was so busy. I’ll come back next time to try it again and see if it still tastes the same

The wait is roughly half an hour. Can’t blame the staff for being overwhelmed but I wish they switch up knowing the line is way out the door.
To get bogo, show them you like and shared their link on Facebook. This is good advertisement but I feel like this wastes A LOT of time. I saw their wifi password and bogo requirement as i stepped in the doorway so I got it done quickly.
However to those who are unaware of this will take longer than necessary… which explains why it took a few customers so much extra time to place their order. They should’ve put the sign outside.

You can adjust ice and sweetness levels, but there are no signs for it. I asked the cashier if I could lower the sweetness to 80% and he said I could either have regular or less sweetness. When I asked how much is less sweetness he wasn’t too sure. He said it would either be 50% or 30% less. There’s a pretty big difference between half sweetness or 30% sweetness. Even though he wasn’t sure I asked for less sweetness anyways. I ended up ordering grass hopper and white pearl.
Grass Hopper
The grass hopper was really refreshing. The cucumber juice was very strong, so if you’re not a huge fan of cucumber I suggest ordering something else.
White Pearl
The while grape oolong tea was delicious! Much better than some other milk tea places. However, it gets sweeter the longer it sits, so I suggest lowering the sweetness a little bit.

Haha literally came 2 days ago! I absolutely love it here, but they ran out of crystal pearls): they offered to add in any FREE toppings instead, but just went with honey boba.
I ordered the creamy jasmine this time with 100% sweetness and it still tasted a bit bitter. On top of that, it seemed a bit watered down or it just didn’t have enough cream in it.

Great idea to offer REAL dairy cream (organic, no less!) for milk tea. I tried the house milk tea at half sweet with boba, and although I got the dry mouthfeel of drinking real tea, I didn’t actually get much TASTE of the tea that they used. all drinks loo like they’re $ 4, and in only one size. hubby ordered the osmanthus oolong to compare it to his favorite drink at our usual boba place, teanado in Sunnyvale. teanado wins for sure.
Teaspoon is good, but won’t be part of our rotation. They have real dessert snow (ribbons of snow, not the texture of shaved ice), but we didn’t try it.
Teaspoon is offering BOGO drinks until June 5 IF you share their grand opening post on Facebook. Props to these guys for hyping up their grand opening like they did. They offered a free drink and a tote (and/​or keychain?) For the first 100 customers and their line was easily over 200 before they even opened. The place is very modern and well decorated… Reminded me of something I’d see in NYC.

My hubby and I are super big fans of the Teaspoon located in Los Altos so when a Teaspoon was opening near to our neighborhood, we knew we had to try it.
Teaspoon Milpitas had pretty big shoes to fill, and unfortunately we feel that its feet was just way too small…
Armed with a BOGO promotion for its grand opening, Teaspoon catered to a large group of people waiting outside to try its drinks. I really loved the look of the place with its cute artwork and quirky decorations hanging from the ceiling. The menu is placed on the side wall, which makes for easy reading as we were waiting in the long line, and showcases the same drinks we were already familiar with.
Wanting to try our favorites, my hubby chose the house milk tea and I chose the white grape oolong milk tea with egg pudding. As with most grand openings and a BOGO event, service was a bit on the slower side, but it wasn’t excruciatingly long. When we finally got our drinks, we were surprised to find the milk layer sitting on top of the tea like a crema. Thinking they might have messed up our order, my hubby and I both tried our drinks at the same time and surfaced with a disappointed look upon our faces.
While the tea flavor was strong, the sweetness of the milk was practically missing from the drink. In fact, the milk almost diluted the whole thing to a really bland taste. My hubby wasn’t pleased with his boba at all. My drink, on the other hand, was drinkable, but didn’t have that wonderful creaminess I have come to know and love from the other Teaspoon.
Considering it is their grand opening, there is a chance that they need to settle in a bit more before they finally get the hang of making their drinks. But for now, if we ever need our Teaspoon fix, my hubby and I will most likely just make our trek down to Los Altos and get it there.

Ok now that it’s actually open I must say I’m impressed and I’m glad that it’s by my house… I like that it’s nearby and that you can arrange the sweetness level —also has wide variety of tea and you can tastes the fragrance of the tea. Boba is also very fresh :) I wish that serve hot tea as well but perhaps that’s for the future. Service was also prompt and our barrister was sweet… I’ll definitely be a regular here

I’m a sucker for sweet milk teas but this is the first tea spot where I’ve ordered less sweetness. I love that Teaspoon samples two types of teas everyday; one milk tea and one without. This is how I discovered the osmanthus milk tea. The samples normally are 100% sweetness. The cashier recommended to try 50−75% sweetness so you could still taste the tea and still be able to taste the sweetness. Each time I’ve gone down 25%. I’m am very pleased with 50%; it’s not bitter at all. Just right.
I’m glad they’ve opened up more Teaspoons in the area. Now if I’m in Fremont or Milipitas, I will definitely be making more pit stops here.
Tip: The cashiers are super friendly and always offer to try toppings and give their opinions if you ask.

Drinks are standard, meaning they do not ask your preference about ice and sugar levels. Next time, I will try to ask for No ice and see if they will honor my request. Their prices seem to be on the higher end, $ 4 or $ 6 depending on the type of drink. They offer unique flavors but not as much selections as other places. Five Star Rewards program. No food, just drinks.
I had the Taro Lover for $ 4 — taro milk with ice and taro bits (no caffeine). It was good but I am cheap so I won’t be a regular, will save this place for special occasions.

They are finally open!!! I have been waiting ever since the sign was put up.
Location: located in the Grocery Outlet shopping center where Paris Baguette and Jang Su Jang. Its to the right of the Grocery Outlet entrance and hard to see from Calaveras Blvd. There is a large parking lot that is shared with all the other businesses and can get crazy busy especially at lunchtime and weekends!!!
Shop: there are only about 10 small tables inside and no outdoor seating. The front counter and layout is much better than the Los Altos shop as there is more room to wait around for your order. All the Teaspoon locations I have been to have a very simple and clean décor and this one is no different.
Drinks: One of my favorite places to grab a tea drink. They brew the tea fresh for each drink with a machine similar to those expresso machines seen like at Starbucks. The menu may not be as extensive as most boba places but the quality makes up for that. I find most boba tea drinks are way too sweet. I always try to order my drinks at 50% sweet and 30% ice or no ice.
My favorite is the Grasshopper which is unique to this franchise and so refreshing on a warm day. Its green tea topped off with shot of fresh cucumber juice. Might not sound good to some of you BUT its really good. I have tried many of the other drinks at their other locations and all have been good. The honey boba is soft and chewy and never have been disappointed.
Hours: Currently, the hours are 12:00 to 8:00 for the soft opening. The cashier mentioned that it might be that for the next two weeks. They are still hiring and once they are fully staffed the hours will change to 11:00
10:00 p.m. There are no long lines yet like the other locations but that might change once the word is out that they are finally open.
