Di Carlo Salon & Barbershop is a top rated establishment located directly in the heart of downtown Milwaukee. We have specialized in strategic Men’s and Women’s hair composition and coloring techniques for over ten years. At Di Carlo Salon and Spa, we are staffed by a unique and innovative team that is always learning and thriving off of the ever-​changing fashion trends and techniques in today’s world. Di Carlo Salon & Barbershop is also home to the $ 20 Men’s haircut, as well as some of the most advanced barbers and barberettes in Milwaukee. I arrived a few minute late to my hair appointment because I was stuck behind a Milwaukee bridge for 10 minutes. When I arrive, I explained to the front desk what happened and how I ran 6 blocks to get there. The man at the front desk was very rude and condescending to me. This was only my second time going there in 3 years, but I will not be going back. The only time that I got my hair cut there, it was very average.

My boyfriend is new to the area and was looking for a good male style for a decent price. Jason at DiCarlo killed it! He looks great, enjoyed the experience, and didn’t break the bank. The online scheduling process is super nice too. He can’t wait to go back!

I discovered DiCarlo Salon last year and have not been disappointed. I have been there about 5 times now. The men’s cut is $ 20…you can’t beat it! That includes a straight edge neck shave and a shampoo too. This salon is a barbershop-​salon hybrid so they have men and women’s services. I like that you can book appointments online since I don’t always know my schedule in advance. I have no idea how to describe how I want my hair usually, but somehow, Ashley always gives me a fantastic haircut exactly how I imagined it being. A trip here is worth the parking hassle too!

I am not usually the type of person to get my hair professionally done for anything and I normally get my hair cut every few years. I’m fairly low maintenance but every once in a while I craved the feeling of being taken care of, which led me on a Unilocal search of local salons.
DiCarlo was highly rated and I was impressed by many of the comments I saw. Because I’m very impulsive, I made an appointment online for a deep conditioning treatment and haircut/​style for the next day.
I walked in and the space is very modern and well decorated. More than other salons I’ve seen, it’s also very clean (which is a big deal considering that they are continuously cutting peoples’ hair). Everything is well lit and their services and prices are well displayed through out the salon, in case you decide you want to add a service on to what you are doing.
My hair stylist/​hair cutter, Cori, was GREAT. Super friendly, responsive to my needs and obviously well versed in the work she does. She made me feel exceptionally well taken care of from the moment we met until I walked out the door.
I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a variety of hair-​related treatments and haircuts!

Jason cut my hair and did a flawless job. He is super fast with the scissors! Gave me a fresh textured faux hawk with short sides.
This was my first time here and will definitely be back. Great cut for only 20 bucks.
BTW parking in the area sucks make sure you get there a little early.

Unfortunately, the stylist I was going to at the Institute of Beauty and Wellness graduated, so I tried out a few other salons in the area. DiCarlo has won the competition: it’s gorgeous, everyone was very friendly, and my stylist (Niki) was great!
I have very curly, mixed-​race hair that’s currently styled in an undercut. I let her know that I just wanted a split-​ends trim and the undercut trimmed, and I was in and out with a perfect trim in 30 minutes. She also gave me some great tips for shaping my curls. I’ve already scheduled my next appointment!

I really liked my stylist, Laura, and the overall atmosphere of the salon. The stylists are very talented and make sure that you are happy with how you look. I came out looking great and the price was very reasonable.
There are complimentary beverages for your refreshment while you wait, which was very nice.

Unfortunately I have been quite disappointed here. We are new to the area and because of the convenient location and reviews on Unilocal I booked an appointment for a haircut. I wasn’t happy with how it looked at all. I thought I’d give the place one more shot and a few weeks later went to a different stylist for a root color. I was happy with the color on my hair but had a lot of staining on my skin (no stain guard was used). I was charged more when I checked out than was listed in the online booking. Plus after a blow dry and style my hair was still wet underneath when I got home. I paid double what I usually pay and am completely unsatisfied. The stylists and staff are all very nice and friendly and I’m ok paying these prices but I expect to walk out having an amazingly fantastic hair day. I won’t go back.

Formerly a Chicago resident, I ended up at DiCarlo for wedding hair and make-​up. The result was beautiful so when we moved back, it was the first salon we tried.
My husband has been going here for the past few years, used to see whichever stylist was available, and was always satisfied.
When our son needed a haircut, I scoured the city to compare kid’s places. After being put off by the obnoxious prices and hokey concepts, we finally called DiCarlo to see if any stylists would do it. Jason was his first cut, and he was great. He worked with us to ensure my son didn’t cry and worked fast.
Since then, we have been been booking with Ashley. She does an amazing job on their cuts and is really great with our 3 y/​old. The kid’s cut is $ 15 which I am so happy to pay, especially since she gives him a real haircut: clippers and scissors. The little guy leaves looking like a little adult every time. Oh yeah, and my husband’s hair is always on pointe.
Have family that visits, too (on their own accord – not because I push for it), and they have some amazing looks – my sister even left with a gorgeous cut and ombré color with dark base and reddish tips. Looks amazing.
Yes, we know they are great with men and women. But hot damn, a hidden gem for boys/​kids cuts. Parents-you’re welcome.

The guys who I work with downtown all go to this place, and it seems great for them. Easy appointments, great location, good price. And my husband always looks great after his appointment.
Sadly, I did not have a great haircut experience here. I have an undercut — long lady hair, but a couple inches at the nape of my neck are shaved. The last time I got it cut elsewhere, a very talented stylist spent a long time carefully straightening out my hairline — putting a straight line between the long part and the shaved part.
I went in to DiCarlo just to get my neck trimmed, nothing else. It seemed convenient, and the task seemed easy enough, so I gave it a try. However, during my appointment, my stylist went a little nuts with the clippers while she was talking to me, and then let me know that it looked like my hairline was uneven. :(She didn’t take responsibility for it — I’m not even sure if she realized that she was the one that did it. I know for a fact that it was good prior to my appointment at DiCarlo… and even had pictures of my hair up, hairline visible, that showed it was straight. But my stylist at DiCarlo shaved hair that previously hadn’t been shaved.
It’s going to take me a good year to grow out the chunk of hair that she mistakenly shaved. And in the meantime, my hairline will just have to look messy. Very disappointing, knowing how much time was put into getting it juuuust right prior to this appointment. What a mess.
Three stars. Everyone I know who goes here looks great, and it’s cheap and convenient, and the atmosphere is nice. But I won’t be going back. I’ll stick to my usual stylist, who can hopefully fix this haircut several months from now. :(

It was my first time here and I booked my appointment under McKenzie for a color treatment. I’m glad I did! After listening to the type of color I described to her, she mixed the perfect color combination I was looking for. She was also very friendly and patient while working on my hair. Best part was when she managed to blow dry my hair the right way — every salon I’ve been too has always done it wrongly.
I really like this place and will definitely be back the next time I’m in Milwaukee!

After 20 years of living in boyhood and visiting the likes of Great Clips and Cost Cutters, I decided to graduate to something more. After looking through reviews of a couple of different places, I settled on DiCarlo.
Not disappointed in the least. I went in not really having any idea what I wanted to do and my stylist was great at explaining to me what she thought would work for my hair and would look good on me. After that consultation, she then delivered with a very good cut all the while entertaining me with good, wholesome conversation. I often feel like getting your haircut is one of the more awkward regular experiences a person can have, but Taylor was great at both her job and at keeping up conversation.
$ 20 really isn’t even that much more expensive than going to one of the aforementioned places that I used to frequent.
tl;dr: Good advice, great haircut, charismatic stylist, and very reasonable price.

Ask for Nikki. I asked for a skin fade, and not to take to much off the top… After my most recent cut, she did a flawless job. I am very picky and demanding when it comes to my hair. And she couldn’t have done a better job. I’ve been going to Nikki now for about my last 4 cuts at least. Each time it just keeps getting better.

Having lived in Milwaukee for the past 6 years, I have been to my fair share of salons. Although after discovering DiCarlo about 2 years ago, I can’t imagine I’ll be going any where else. They genuinely do a fantastic job, and the price is reasonable. At $ 20, there is no better value for this quality of service in Milwaukee. The downside is finding parking, but even that isn’t so bad. I would highly recommend DiCarlo to anyone that is looking for a quality salon for a reasonable price and a great atmosphere.

I’ve been to several salons in the Milwaukee area over the last 6 years, but I finally found a place I’ve stuck with the last 2 years in Dicarlo salon. I get my hair cut by Ashley and she nails it Everytime! The first time I walked in I had an idea in mind and she was able to make it happen. The cost is also great at only $ 20, including a shampoo and style. I can tell Ashley really takes the time and effort to pay attention to the little details, and the straight razor neck shave is great!
If you’re serious about your hair and want it to look great look no further!

I’ve been to dicarlo since January 2014.
After i moved to Chicago in October, I still drove back to dicarlo for my haircut!
I’ve had service from three different stylists given my work schedule and I just make appointment with whoever has availability.
But all of them are great. And for $ 20 in Milwaukee, couldn’t be better.
I only stopped my patronage to dicarlo due to the winter weather and work schedule. Can’t be making trips back to Milwaukee only for haircuts in this winter.
But overall A+ for the tight team at dicarlo!

This is an awesome place. As a newbie to Milwaukee, I was really anxious to find a salon/​barbershop that would be able to cut African-​American hair without the exorbitant prices I used to have to pay in Chicago. Nikki is an amazing stylist. She knows exactly how to cut my hair and keep it looking crisp. She also gave me some great product recommendations to keep my hair/​scalp moisturized into the coming cold months.

Incredible! Ask for Katie M. I used to work in downtown Milwaukee, lived in Chicago, and came here because it was on the way to the Amtrak station.
I have a weird phobia about getting my hair cut by anyone (not sure why, not sure I want to know). Anyhow, Katie figured out a great style for me, and consistently cut my hair in that manner. She actually got me over my phobia. She’s also super fun and I feel like I know her family and she knows mine.
In fact, I’m moving to Nashville and would highly consider flying her down or coming back to Milwaukee so she can cut my hair. I will really miss her. She’s the only person that has ever cut my hair where I thought it looked excellent.
The salon is a little hard to find. It’s west of the BMO building and right downstairs from Jimmy Johns. Cool décor… Cool salon and Katie rocks!

I called on a Sunday morning and they had clearance about 12. I called I think around 11. Anyways. I got there, kinda got lost a moment as I did not know the salon was under Jimmy John on water st. So anyways. But to a wedding party all the stylists where busy. And running a few minutes behind which I expected. Any where I go there is a wait. I ended up with Taylor. She was amazing. Her chair was in the way back back which was nice. She informed me that, after 2 weeks free of charge you can come in for a free clean up. Re edging and around the ears. Then 2 weeks after that so a month later, it’s hair cut time again. I WILL BE COMING BACK. Great people.
20.00 for a cut is not bad expecially getting it at a professional solan!
