This place is awesome. Best place to be in Bayview. It’s affordable, friendly staff, and has a real cool vibe. It’s almost set up more as a music/dance venue than a bar. Open Mic night on Wednesdays is very cool.

I have only been on Wednesday’s but I understand they have something going every day of the week — whether it is Happy Hour specials — $ 1 PBRs from 5 to 9 is my favorite — or swing dancing, open mic nights for comedians and musical entertainers. Great spot to watch a game — 6 couches facing a HD projection TV screen, play pool, «entertainment only» slots. If they had a kitchen, this place would be as popular as any other Bayview establishment. Rumor has it that Transfer Pizza might be opening up a new location where the old Chinese restaurant used to be. That would give it 5 stars for sure…

Cozy couches and great comedy events. Couldn’t ask for much more from a bar. Chris’s drink specials are also pretty fantastic. This is my new bay view hang out.

Took a visit for the down and over pub. It’s a big space So/So accoustic sounds. Good Crowd that night. It is huge so it has that going for it. Limited selection of taps and bartender was kinda on the rude side and didnt know how to make several suggested drinks. Would visit it again but not horribly impressed.

The Wednesday bartender totally ignored my empty glass when I was sitting at the bar. I was there 45 mins and he never asked if I wanted more. When I tried to engage him in conversation he was merely dismissive. So I left and spent $ 50 at café centraal. Had an awesome night. Bad experience at down and over surprised me as I have had good experiences at up n under.

Huzzah! FTR, y’all.(FTR = first to review… if ya don’t know, now ya know!) Down & Over = owned by the same folks that own Brady Street’s favorite resident longtime hippie-ish dive bar with karaōke and shows and all that.(I’m talking about the Up and Under… if ya don’t know, now ya know!) Down & Over = occupies the space that used to be the Bay View Brewhaus/Brewhouse. While I was never a huge huge fan of that place, it seems as though they’ve really cleaned it up a bit. It’s less dingy, more polished, and while the bar and stage are just where they used to be, they’ve re-vamped some things and the space is much nicer than it used to be. Admittedly: I was here for a show in which I didn’t get to/didn’t want to stay up as late as I needed to in order to the see the band we were wanting to actually see(5 bands playing total) and I didn’t much care for the other preceding bands’ variety of aural art. The point? They have shows, lots of them. Seems this place could also be a cool venue for parties, fundraisers, etc. Stage + bar + pretty serious capacity + centralized Beev location = solid. The women’s bathroom still really sucks, and parking is weird. A few spaces in the back, and then street parking off KK. I’ll have to make it back a few times in order to better ascertain whether or not I’m down w/Down & Over. For now, they’re A-O-freaking-K!
