Maybe I was there on a bad weekend? Ended up having to get our produce at the grocer that week. More jewelry, clothing and such than food. Don’t get me wrong I bought some cute earrings. but that wasn’t the point.

I’m a self-professed farmer’s market junkie. But, I’ve always been particularly attracted to the hip, bohemian feel of the East Side Green Market — with its farm stands and music, and truly interesting artisans. It’s one of those places that feels more like a journey than a destination — and it’s a market where you want to linger, rather than simply buy your produce and leave. If you’re the type of person who wants edibles — and edibles only — aat your farmer’s market, you might be better off traveling west to West Allis. But, if you enjoy a great variety — and by that I mean a wide variety of vendors including farmers, artisans, and musicians — and a market that captures the essence of the east side, give the Green Market a try. So stop on by this weekend. Maybe grab a bite to eat at Beans & Barley before the market begins. Browse the vendors, chat with the artists, and be sure to hang around long enough to get your groove on to some spectacular Milwaukee music. The market is open June — October.
