If there was a way to give minus stars I would. Brought my car in for a simple hose. They quoted me $ 500 and had to wait for the part. 4 days go by and I read the reviews on this place. Took my car back took it somewhere else and found out the repair was a quick and easy fix for $ 60. Avoid this place like the plague.

I took my car there once to get new underbody panels attached. Mind you, this is a job that I could have done myself, and I know nothing about cars. They used the wrong fasteners to attach the underbody and I ended up dragging it the very next time I got on the freeway. They actually took time to get the correct hardware when I brought it back, but it could never stay attached as the damage from scraping on the ground was apparently too great. Their solution: jury rig my underbody with zip ties.
After that, you’d think for sure I’d NEVER come back, but alas, their location is too convenient. My car had failed emissions. They got a short leash this time, so when their estimate came right up to the limit, I was skeptical, wanted a second opinion, and agreed to pay $ 100 for their taking a look. When I came back to get my car, I had the experience of dealing with Jim Fazio himself who became offended with me when I asked for the emissions failure sheet (which I had brought in on their request). He told me to «relax», and then said into the phone, «not you, just some impatient customer» in a tone that said he would have substituted derogatory words had I and other customers not been there.
They had lost it, so the owner «apologized» to me by repeating to me that «it’s not the end of the world» a few times as I walked out disgusted at the incompetent, insulting experience I had just paid for. I’m fully prepared to pay whatever Riverside Automotive asks for as they’ve not broken my trust yet.
TLDR: Both incompetent and rude. Go elsewhere.
Edit: Took it to Riverside ready to pay even more than Jim Fazio quoted me and got it done for $ 500 less. And didn’t get insulted either!

I brought my vehicle in roughly a month ago for a hood damage/​dent repair. The price was very fair, in fact it was much lower than their competitors. Within two days the hood looked as good as new. They even have a lifetime warranty on the paint job/​finish with a guarantee against any cracks or chips. The staff I worked with were friendly. I would recommend them for anyone else looking for a great auto body shop.

Horrible customer service, tried to charge me more than double than last year for inspection and oil change. Then said I tried to threaten him. Apparently he’s known to bully women, kicked me out of his shop and tried to keep my valid vehicle registration, they yelled again, in the parking lot as I walked to my car, that his predecessor thought I was a real pain in the behind. (He did not use that word.) My new mechanic took great care of my car and told me about Mr. Fazio Jr. bragging about kicking yet another woman out of his shop the other day. That would be me. Refused service in an establishment in which I’ve had a good relationship for years and have spent lots of dollars. He was bending over backwards for the guy standing next to me who’d had all his credit cards declined, then he took me on because I questioned the doubling of the price. I’ve never been treated so badly in my life and will not stand for it and will let every woman in the neighborhood know about this situation. Things are not looking good for business, Jim. Wait until I take you up on Federal civil rights charges, you AND the business your father built up for years only to have you take it down in a heartbeat. Think about this the next time you get your jollys treating wives and mothers like trash.

Took our car here more than a handful of times since moving to east side! Spent over 5000.00 on repairs. One of the service guys we dealt with quit and suddenly we were dealing with Jim the owner. He’s been extremely rude, cocky and short tempered! Never ever again!!! High priced as well!,
I will drive the distance to another repair shop! Many, many to choose from! Better customer service!
Farewell Fazio’s on Farwell.

While the customer service seems good on the outside, the practices internally are spotty at best.
Took my car to Fazio’s to get the brakes examined (I needed a location downtown so I could walk to work after dropping it off). Shortly after dropping it off, I received a call telling me that I needed new front and rear pads/​rotors AND calipers. Considering I just had my rear rotors/​pads replaced 5 months ago and this wasn’t mentioned at all, I smelled bullshit. When mentioning this to the mechanic, it was then shifted to a blaming of the previous mechanic for not telling me that my calipers needed replaced when he did my brakes. After going back and forth with him, he finally agreed to just do my front pads/​rotors, at which point he said the front caliper was probably okay… funny that earlier he wanted to replace it anyways. (I’m now skeptical that I even needed the front rotors replaced as I get the strong suspicion that this location up-​sells all their brake jobs to replace components that are still in decent shape) Direct honesty does not seem like their motto.
I wish I could say that’s where the crap ends, but it’s not. Upon checking out, I noticed that they charged me $ 150 in labor just to do the front rotors/​pads. While I may not be able to do it myself, I do know that this fix only takes a qualified person 30 – 60 mins MAX. So either he has an outrageous hourly rate, or he’s charging for more time than it should take a competent mechanic.
Final Note — I DO NOT recommend this location. Labor is heavily over-​priced and the «suggestions» are shady. Don’t make the same mistake I did.

I used to take our cars there for repairs but after a few mistakes (no refill of the brake fluid after repairs & they didn’t repair the power steering like they said it was). Very expensive. I recommend that all eastsiders take their repairs elsewhere.

Had gone there several times after we moved to the Eastside, mainly because it was close and after talking to the guys there they seemed alright. Overall went there about 7 – 10 times for some relatively minor repairs. Price seemed about average and did not have any major issues with the mechanics.
Shortly after having one repair done that should have included removing the wheels from the rear of the car I drove the car up to my in-​laws to replace the brakes and a few things I could handle myself.
This is where I took issue with Fazio’s.
After removing one of the rear tires I noticed that the inner facing tire wall was completely worn through, glaringly obvious to anyone not blind; the outside face was still halfway decent but we were planning new tires before winter anyway as they were getting a bit worn. Honestly, I am shocked that I made the hour &½ highway drive without it blowing out. Now, to be clear I had not hired them nor asked them to do anything with the tires, the issue I took was the fact that they would have had to remove that tire to perform the work they had just completed, yet said nothing about how badly worn the tire was.
Meaning:
A.) They never removed the tire; which I don’t think is the case.
B.) Nobody noticed an almost shredded tire.
C.) They didn’t give a crap enough to mention it to me since it wasn’t what I was paying them for that day.
At least part of the last repair I had brought my car in for involved issues with that wheel and various rubbing/​grinding sounds coming from it. Yet, no one could take the like 10 seconds to warn me that the tire could blow out any second now!
I may have been spoiled by previous mechanics I have had, but I kind of expect them to make mention of obvious issues to me; an I don’t just mean the list of stuff they want me to have them do next. Major safety issue avoided completely by blind luck.
Basically, in my opinion the guys there are competent and able to perform work on the car, but I have no trust for them after that incident and have since taken my car elsewhere for repairs.
Also, I would just like to point out that I am pretty sure at least some of the 4 & 5 star reviews on here are total B.S. Reason (s) read them to yourself and a couple sound like they were written by different people from the same script. (can’t rec em/​recommend them enough) (getting car repairs sucks/bites)There is one glowing review where if you look at the persons friends (hint: they only have couple so it’s easy to look) literally half also gave awesome reviews… Weird right? but I am sure they just bonded over how much they love Fazio’s. Lastly, how can people give it 5stars, but have nothing to really say about the place… Yeah, 5 stars and two sentences… Now this could just be me, but no mechanic is getting 5 stars! Ever! Period! Barring them saving my childs life,. then maybe… Seriously, back in Appleton (my hometown) my mechanic was my Uncle, I got the family discount and money off repairs if I referred people to him… I still wouldn’t give 5 stars! Course, he is kind of a jerk; but he’s family.
That being said, look into it yourself and see if those ⁴⁄₅ Stars sound legit or like total canned ads.

I had some legitimately horrible service with this repair facility. I urge all of you Eastsiders to take your vehicles someplace that may not be as convenient, but far more trustworthy.
I took my car to Fazio’s before a long road trip. I let the service representative, Kevin, know that I was driving to Nashville and needed to make sure my car was road-​ready. I explained that my car had been making a growling noise, and that was my main concern. I received a call back a few hours later, saying that my shocks/​struts needed to be replaced. I asked if this was detrimental for my trip and was told yes. The service would cost around $ 400.00. An hour later, I received another call. Kevin said that the alternator also needed to be replaced. I asked him how much that would cost. $ 439.00. Both repairs would total over $ 800.00, which I did not have the money for at the time. I asked him what I should do. He said that the alternator was the more important issue and that the shock/​struts would just make a noise which was more of a cosmetic issue. I find that to be odd because, hours before, I was told this shock/​strut service needed to be done for my safety.
I had my alternator repaired at Fazio’s and picked up my vehicle $ 439.00 for services rendered to make my car safe for my trip. After picking up my car, the noise was still there. I honestly don’t know much about cars. I thought that it just needed to work itself out. Fazio’s told me that the alternator was what was making the noise. They replaced the alternator. I trusted that this was the work that was needing to be done.
Four days later, on my way back from Nashville, my car lost power on the highway, which was absolutely terrifying. I maneuvered the vehicle off the highway and had to get it towed to the nearest Firestone. Towing to Firestone was $ 87.40. At Firestone, I was told that the issue was the tensioner pulley. It was severely worn. I was told that this would not have worn over the last four days. It took 2 hours, and only $ 165.90 for Firestone to complete this repair. When I hopped in my vehicle, the noise was gone. This far less expensive repair was, in fact, what needed to be fixed. Fazio’s failed to see that this pulley was the cause of the noise, they failed to test my vehicle to make sure that the noise was gone from the alternator they «replaced».
I feel mislead by Fazio’s. It seems that they found the repair with the biggest price ticket, told me that was the thing that «needed» to be fixed, and overlooked something severely wrong with my vehicle. I trusted them to have my car road-​ready for a long trip when they said it was.
I called Fazio’s the day that I returned from my trip. I provided them with the explanation, receipts, and the worn pulley. Kevin said that he would get back to me that day. I had to call several times and, 8 days later, was finally given the only option that they would take money off of my next service at Fazio’s. I feel that I was misled, taken advantage of, and worst of all, the situation was not remedied at all putting me into a dangerous and even more expensive position. It is clear that Fazio’s does not care about customer service, but, rather, the highest financial gain they can get from a customer.

Let me first start off by saying, I won’t get my car fixed anywhere else. I had my 97 dodge caravan towed into the lot and the keys dropped to Kevin. I followed up with a phone call and I talked with Kevin about the issue, little did I know that my car was more or less dead on the water so to speak. It needed wiring repairs, a new computer and ignition coil. I was baffled, because I just had the transmission replaced of which I took a loan out for, so I was strapped for cash. Kevin assured me he would work with me. So after trouble shooting my vehicle. They got it working. The best part was whatever they fixed (the wiring I’m sure) made my vehicle run and function better than before. It was still a little pricey but way cheaper than going somewhere else. The only reason I didn’t give a fifth star is because they didn’t have a loaner vehicle. Other than that fazio was amazing, honest, and dedicated to giving me a safe car back.

Absolutely useless repair shop… you are best off literally anywhere else.
I took a window regulator in to them to be replaced; I supplied the part and had made an 11:30am appointment. I dropped my vehicle off 45 minutes before the appointment and finally received a call 5.5 hours later that they could not get the window to go down even though they could get it to raise. For this astoundingly inept work, I got the privilege of giving them $ 95.00.
Avoid at all costs.

I went to Fazio’s for an oil change and routine winter check-​up that was free with the oil change. little did I know that Fazio’s uses this as an opportunity to give you a list the size of a short novel all that is wrong with your car that needs to be fixed ASAP and will cost a pretty penny. that’s exactly what they did. They took almost 4 hours to just change my oil, but then said they could all these other things to fix my car within 2 hours and would charge $ 1100 ($ 400 of which for labor charges).Needless to say, I got a second opinion, and turns out, only 2 of the 6 things they said NEEDED to be done, actually did. My new bills total? $ 350. Seems like they just read off a script versus actually looking at what your car needs. Head elsewhere, if you can.

i’m really quite happy with the service I’ve received at Fazio.
In the two times I have been in, they were able to get me in right away and called me back within a few hours with a diagnosis.
Getting car repairs sucks. Like big time. They make it easy on you without the BS.
I had to get some wheel bearings replaced and as soon as I drove off the lot I could tell something more was wrong. I called them up (now it was after hours) and they answered. They told me to drop of the car first thing in the morning and they’d check it out. I brought it in, and they called me back within an hour to tell me that it was a faulty part and that they’d replace it free of charge.
I appreciate the honest feedback and the feeling that I actually am a valued customer.
I can’t recommend them enough.

Dodge Durango needed a power steering pump and brakes.
I was told that the brakes would be 1200+ for the entire job. I later took it to another shop and i was charged total of 629. Total bs right?
Now to the power steering… They never fixed the power steering they fixed things around it. I later took it to the shop that fixed the brakes and the power steering pump was about 300 which Fazio’s didnt fix. I was told that there was a lot of build up around the power steering so they couldnt exactly figure what was wrong with it. Hmm so the alternative is they just fix what ever they think they should and bill me for it? They couldve told me they didnt know and sent me on my way to another shop that could find out. They didnt, so i ended up paying a ridiculous amount with them.
Not to mention after the first time i was told that it was fixed i was driving and guess what happened? Power steering fluid started to leak. I took it back they said «oh you need a pin thats why its leaking» BS! That didnt stop the leak either.
I wouldnt send my worst enemy to this shop. I could care less about the awards or media attention. For all i know they didnt buy it for promotion. Not a good shop what so ever. Be warned.

Upgrade!
Guess what? Spending money on car repairs still bites. That hasn’t changed, and that will never change. If you own a car, it’s a fact, sad but true.
So why an upgrade when I had to dish out almost a cool five hundo on unexpected car repairs?
Here’s why: Fazio Automotive has been, in my experience, nothing but supremely awesome when it comes to automotive service. They do solid work.
Here’s a detailed list of why Fazio Automotive gets the bump up from yours truly:
–the staff at Fazio is honest/​straightforward about what they can do, how long it will take, and how much it will cost
–their location is convenient (right on Farwell across from The Eatery)
–they’ll do their best to accomodate you in a timely fashion even if you’re busy/they’re busy
–they’ll talk through repairs/​charges/​changes with you so you understand them
–they go out of their way to be awesome and friendly despite dealing in an industry where folks come in already annoyed… and that can’t be easy
I’ve had nothing but good experiences and can’t rec ‘em enough.
My hope is that I won’t have to return for a long time, but when that mystery light goes on/​a weird clunking noise gets me worried, I won’t have to think twice about where to take my beloved Mazda. Thanks, Fazio!

So the reviews around the web (Net? Interwebs? What phrase are we even using anymore?) about Fazio Automotive are schizophrenic, and I can kind of understand why.
When in need of car repairs, it’s easy to assume someone is trying to screw you over. When looking for someone to fix my vehicle boo-​boo, I really wanted to find a place that was convenient and (primarily) did really great work. My adventures led me to bringing my car into Fazio’s this week.
Cut to a bitterly cold Wednesday morning and I’m running out to my car only to have my day take a sharp downward turn. Someone, a very very bad someone, pulled a lil hit n run and left my poor, innocent little Nissan a victim of a drive-​by smashing. After getting over my initial pissed-​off-​ness, a closer inspection revealed that the drivers side mirror took the brunt of the damage. All things considered, it could have been worse.
I called Fazio’s just to see what they had to say about the whole thing. Even though its right by my place, their hours aren’t conducive to my work schedule (Mon-​Fri 8 – 6, which are the exact hours I’m at work) but I had heard good things so I figured I’d give it a shot. A quick call & a few snapshots of the damage sent to Kevin and by lunchtime, he gave me a complete estimate and promised that the new mirror could be installed first thing Friday morning, minimizing any time I would need to miss work. The estimate was really reasonable. Having had a similar situation happen to me a few years ago (with a Pontiac and a mailbox — my fault that time) I had a general idea of what it may cost to replace. Fazio was about $ 150 less than I paid about 6 years ago for basically an identical repair.
Dropped my wheels off on Thursday night and by 9:30 Friday morning received a call that the job was done. That’s when things got a little sketchy…
I attempted to pay my remaining bill with cash, only to be told that they didn’t have the correct change. Fine, I understand that. It’s early in the day and you’re light on cash in the till. So I offered then to pay with my Visa debit card and was told that the credit card machine wasn’t working. So then I offered to pay with a check like it was 1999 but was told that my check number was «too low» to be accepted by the owner. Either take checks or don’t take checks but wtf? (Psssst: Fazio — it’s 2013, no one uses checks anymore. I write approximately 4 checks per year. Also, you can pick whatever check number you want the bank to use so the «check number» method to determine someone’s ability to pay is completely stupid and totally nonsensical ESPECIALLY when I just tried to give you cash so obviously I can cover the amount ya bonehead.) So the solution was to write my debit card number down and try to run it later in the day. Yes. My debit card that’s linked to the checking account of the check you won’t take. Because… logic?
Anyway, I picked up my car and tested the mirror only to find that TA-​DA! it didn’t work. I went back into the shop and asked, a little miffed for sure, if anyone actually bothered to test the damn thing to which I received no reply. After checking my car to confirm, in fact, the mirror was non-​operational, I was told that the internal mechanism was probably bad. OK. So that’s not even the issue. I realize that parts can be delivered faulty and that sometimes you buy things that don’t work and they have to be returned but why on earth wouldn’t someone check that it actually worked after installing it? It seriously makes me question the thoroughness and quite frankly, the competency, of the people working on my car. Even I would have enough sense to test the thing before declaring the job done. I kind of think they thought magically somehow I wouldn’t notice.
So I was promised that a new part and new repair would be done by next week free of charge (well, goooooolllly!). Frankly, it’s just a bad situation all around and the extra time and annoyance didn’t really help.
I really, really wanted this to be 5 stars because I think the people who work there seem so nice and I love supporting local business, but c’mon guys! I was so happy with the customer service and the fair prices and then… it just all fell apart. I would be willing to give them another shot in the future for minor repairs, but I honestly don’t know how I would feel about having them do anything major because I just feel like the whole thing was kind of sloppy. Maybe because they didn’t think it was a big deal, they didn’t give it too much time or attention? I’m not sure how to feel about that…

This is a quality local automotive repair garage in the Milwaukee area. I’ve been bringing my old Saturn here for a few years and have found the service and price very reasonable.

I brought in a classic 79 ford f100 they told me that the engine was shot. I didn’t know what do do with the truck so I asked them if they could sell it for me. They brought it to an auction. I’m supposing they sold it but every time I went in the guy who took it to auction was not there and no call back on messages. I marked it up to a loss one more time I’ve been taken advantage of.
Fast forward two years later at the DMV they never transferred the title. So I get to deal with that Yay;(

Edit 12/​16/​2014: Fazio’s is still just as good to me and my car as they were 3 years ago. My car issues have always been repaired quickly and I’ve never had problems afterwards. They are an honest shop and I will not take my car anywhere else in Milwaukee.

My husband and I have brought his ’98 Pontiac Grand Am into Fazio’s many times. They’ve always worked quickly and stuck to their original quote (if not cheaper) every time. No surprises, and the problem has always been fixed the first time.
That alone would be enough for a stellar review. But a few weeks ago his car was making an awful, loud, squeaking noise in the back passenger wheel well. The noise was SO loud, we were certain this was a HUGE problem and would be a HUGE financial hit. After Fazio’s had it a day, they contacted my husband and told him it was nothing serious at all — a rather large rust build-​up in the wheel well, but that was it. They cleaned off the rust and sent us on our way. The noise was gone, and it cost us basically nothing.
We were ready to believe anything was wrong with that car, and would have paid for repairs not knowing any better. I’m very thankful Fazio’s is not only a top-​quality shop, but an HONEST one too!
