Specialties
Orley Shabahang designs and creates contemporary and classic, hand-knotted, artisan carpets with a focus on ancient techniques, sustainability and quality materials that make every carpet a functional work of art.
History
Established in 1973.
In 1973, Geoffrey Orley and Bahram Shabahang met in the bazaars of Isfahan in their early twenties and have since built a friendship and international business selling unique and collectable artisan carpets.
The collection first developed in reaction to the proliferation of mass-market, handmade carpets. Orley Shabahang sought to create the finest carpets within the word of handmade rugs by resurrecting ancient techniques that were rapidly becoming extinct. Bahram built on the Shabahang family’s four centuries of experience in making and selling Persian carpets.
Orley Shabahang opened its first location in Whitefish Bay, Wis. in 1982. Today, the Whitefish Bay location has 12 employees. Orley Shabahang now has locations in New York, N.Y., Palm Beach, Fla., and Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
