History
Established in 1924.
Prentiss & Carlisle Co., Inc. was founded in 1924 by George T. Carlisle, a University of Maine graduate in forestry, and Henry Prentiss, a businessman and third generation timberland owner. The company has grown and undergone many changes in the 80+ years since.
Meet the Manager
Samuel R.
Manager
Sam joined Prentiss & Carlisle in 2005 as a result of P&C’s acquisition of George Banzhaf & Company (GB&CO). He was president of GB&CO for 17 years, serving not only as its chief executive officer, but also as its principal industry analyst and timberland appraiser. As a forest economist, Sam has nearly 30 years of professional experience in all of the major U.S. forest regions. In addition to 100+ proprietary client reports, Sam has authored more than 50 publications and presentations on international trade in forest products, timberland appraisal, geographic information systems, forest policy, ethics, and timber taxation issues. He holds a B.S. in forest management from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and an M.S. in forest economics from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a Certified General Appraiser in five states (Alabama, Georgia, Maine, Michigan, Wisconsin). Sam was named a Fellow of the Society of American Foresters (SAF) in 2009.
