SOOO good! I don’t know what was in that oatmeal caramel bar thing I got, but I still crave it! I don’t live in Wisconsin, but next time I’m there, I will be going back to Simma’s!

My husband and I were driving through Tosa and saw this bakery. It looked nice from the outside so we decided to stop.
They had a wide variety of bakeries and they all looked so yummy.
We bought some cake & cheesecake — they were yummy.
If we are ever in the area, we will stop in for some yummy desserts :-)

The treats here are to die for. So good every time! The reason they get a poor review from me is the wait staff. The treats look so wonderful here, it is hard to decide. The wait staff every time I have gone in here acts very put out at the long time my family and I are taking. Each time there has been no one else in the store so it’s not like I’m holding any one up. I’ve even seen them eye rolling, and sighing loudly. After this last experience I just can’t go back.

Was recommend this place and forced to go. And it was great! Got a small cheesecake and was really happy about it. They also many other sweets from cupcakes, cakes, and just another big variety of sweets. Staff was helpful and funny.

Great Pastries here. I love anything that has cheesecake infused into the dessert. Awesome place, the staff is welcoming and the prices are not bad at all. Go here if you want wedding cakes done or special events.

Simmas is amazing! Love their chocolate chip muffins, they are heaven. A lot of their bakery items are very reasonably priced also. Some of their more seasonal items, like their reindeer aka puppy chow food, are more expensive though which makes me a bit sad. Overall though, I have yet to be disappointed with any purchase.
The only reason this isnt a 5 star review is that the staff is a bit lacking in their bedside manner so to speak. I know they are usually pretty busy but a friendly smile and a thank you would do wonders!

Who doesn’t love Simma’s. Seriously. This has been a long time favorite bakery place of mine going back to the 1980’s. No that was not a typo. Black and White cupcake. Pure chocolate cheesecake perfection IMHO.
Today I lived a little and decided to try the Egg Nog cheesecake and Peppermint Cheesecake. Holiday specials naturally. I really liked the peppermint cheesecake, forwarding, you need to like peppermint. The Egg Nog was only so-​so. I really didn’t get a strong egg nog taste from this.
Over the years I have tried everything. Of course you should try the cheesecake, yes, yes. always wonderful. I find the carrot cake good but not excellent. Just me, but I like me frosting sweeter. The apple thing (sorry, turnover, square?) is great. The selection of breads is terrific also.
Parking is a bit tricky but don’t let that stop you for picking up a cheesecake for a loved one for valentines day in a few months;) Enjoy!

My favorite bakery in Milwaukee. They have the most amazing cheesecakes and cakes. My favorite combo is white cake with chocolate mousse topped with chocolate ganache. It is absolutely delicious. We recently ordered our thanksgiving desserts from Simma’s. We got a caramel apple pie and pumpkin cheesecake. Both items were delicious. My wedding cake was from Simma’s as well and I went there for a cake testing prior. They really work with the bride to get her what she wants.

I grew up in this part of Tosa and have been a loyal, delightfully satisfied Simmas customer since they opened. Every sumptuous treat is delicious and beautifully created. I love the bundt coffee cake, morning buns, and assorted tiny treats… fun for parties and special events. Their birthday cakes are yummy, and then, of course, the cheesecake is incredible.

I had a 5 tier wedding cake from Simma’s and it was well worth it. Went with marble cake, chocolate mousse filling, and buttercream white frosting. It was so delicious that some of my guests STILL talk about it a month after my wedding. I don’t know if the anniversary topper is going to last a whole year but it’s in the freezer for now!

We used Simma’s for our wedding cake based on knowing how awesome their cheesecake was. The cake was the best and we received so many compliments on it. The design was exactly like the picture I showed. What impressed me the most was the service! They called me a month before the wedding and the week of the wedding to confirm! Having vendors call you doesn’t happen very often so they were by far one of my top vendors.

First experienced Simma’s cheesecake at a friends wedding. Their cheesecake is some of the best cake you will sink your teeth into! It is not cheap but the little bit more you pay for it is definitely worth it. Ended up getting one of their cakes for our wedding and everyone loved and asked where it came from !!!

THEE best! If given an option I will always try to get the cake from Simma’s! I have been gettin my birthday cakes here ever since I was a kid and now I get my son’s birthday cakes here too! The buttercream is so fabulous! I have found myself ordering bigger cakes than needed just to make sure that there are left overs. I also have been traveling in the winter time from madison area for the last 6 years or so just to get my birthday cakes from here! The last couple of years I have gotten myself two cakes. One for just me and a select few people and then the one that I share with everyone (if I’m going to drive an hour for my cake during the winter time in Wisconsin I might as well get more than one). I usually can’t just pick my cakes up and go either. The wide selection of individual pastries is to die for! I personally enjoy the fruit tarts and mini mocha cakes. Yummy!

My pick for best G*dD@mn cheesecake in town. There might be other good ones, but this is the one all others are compared to. Plus, there’s like a 30 year old picture of Julia Child with the original owner, thusly cementing its legitimacy.
14 years ago we hired Simma’s to make our wedding cake and assorted petifores. We still get compliments on it to this day. Every time I see a bride-​to-​be in the store picking out a wedding cake design, I feel there is hope for today’s generation. Sure, Simma’s sells other things besides cheesecake and those things are awesome too, but there is only one thing I come here for: cheesecake. When I need to impress, when I have a sweet tooth, when I want to test my body’s ability to fight off diabetes, you’ll find me at Simma’s!

Living within walking distance of Simma’s has been one of the hardest parts of my life. Literally not a day goes by where I don’t think, «Oh, I could just pop in for a quick cheesecake. Or some bread. Or a muffin. Or one of a zillion other tasty treats!!» But every day I try to resist. Instead I save Simma’s for any time I have a visitor (anyone want to come visit??) because else my whole paycheck would go to their pastries. (you pay for quality!)
The store itself is small, so I always take things to-​go, but there is seating available too. The staff is speedy, so even if there’s a line the wait is never too long (avoid going at prime pastry time — aka breakfast and before holidays that involve giving gifts to women). They boast about having one of the best cheesecakes in Milwaukee, and it’s completely justified. Even a little piece is a slice (or square) of perfectly decorated heaven. And if you want, you can get a bigger option as well. Around Mother’s Day one year they had little heart shaped cheesecakes — I drove two of them four hours to give to my mom and grandma and they not only held up on the journey (in a cooler) but arrived looking as perfect as they had when I bought them.
Simma’s hits the mark. Artfully decorated and fully delicious. All you could want in a bakery.

I was frantically searching for a bakery in the area with a birthday cake already made so that I could have it personalized and taken at once. Of all of the bakeries in the 10 mile radius, Simma’s Bakery was the only option. Thankfully, they had premade cakes; however, they weren’t «birthday cakes», they were cheesecakes. I was in such a hurry and in a need for a cake that I went ahead and purchased one of the 8“cheesecakes and had «Happy Birthday _​_​_​» written on it. The outside of the cake really did look like a regular cake, so I figured it would do.
During the birthday dinner, everyone seemed to really like the cake. There was a total of 12 perfectly sized slices. There was a thick top layer of cheesecake and a thinner bottom layer of chocolate cake. The cake wasn’t good enough for me to want seconds, but it definitely got the job done for the celebration. They outer core layer of icing didn’t seem to have any taste to it; it was probably more for decoration than anything.

I’ve always really liked Simmas but my experience this weekend took the proverbial cake (see what I did there? Because it’s a bakery.) in terms of GREAT service.
To give some background, I’d ordered a cake + some of their pastries for my sister’s baby shower. When I picked up the day of, the cake had been decorated with red roses rather than the pink I specified. Now, I am a reasonable person, miscommunications happen and I truly give no shits about the color of roses on a cake but my mom was being rather… ahem…particular about shower stuff. So I knew if I showed up with a red rose cake there was going to be some drama.
The super kind person who was taking care of me at Simmas didn’t hesitate for a second in fixing it. She was able to flick off the offending color decorations and pipe new ones on in short order. She didn’t roll her eyes at me either or act like it was an inconvenience (I would have done both of those things in her place). I wish I had gotten her name, because she really saved me some pain! You couldn’t tell any changes had been made and the cake itself was delicious — the shower guests ate every single bite.

Simmas seems like one of those places that have been here as long as Wauwatosa has existed. Located in the heart of old Wauwatosa, Simmas boasts a very non-​pretentious storefront. It is tiny. The few times I’ve been there, there has been a line or at least a small wait to get to the counter.
There are counters in the front packed with delicious baked goodies. The first time we went to Simmas I was hoping that they would have ready-​made cakes and happily they did! There is also a huge fridge full of ready-​made cheesecakes, carrot cakes, and I think chocolate as well. They will also decorate or write a message on them for you on the spot.
We have gotten two special occasion cakes from Simmas. The carrot cake and a banana flavored cake, both were unexpectedly good. Their cakes are by far the most flavorful, and dense, but yet moist cakes I’ve ever had. I don’t think I can go back to eating other cakes. Please don’t make me! The prices were also very reasonable, we got a 4 layer found cake to serve 10 – 12 people, only 20 bucks.
I have had occasion to taste their cheesecake at yo mamas and I have to say the cheesecake was really good though I’m not huge fan of the chocolate ganache on top of which is apparently their signature topping. I feel like it adds a weird texture and the chocolate overwhelms the subtler cheesecake flavor.

I’ve been going to Simma’s for as long as I can remember (at least 30 years) — back when Simma, herself, was still alive and kicking and baking up a storm in the back. This was always my parents’ go-​to place for special occasion cakes. I also thank them and their cheesecakes for putting me over the 215 mark on the scale at age 13!

If one product can warrant a five-​star Unilocal rating, their famous morning buns certainly are it. These buns are huge (that doesn’t sound right). Whereas other morning buns are hard and dry, Simma’s tend to be moist and buttery throughout. With a dusting of sugar on top, it’s $ 2-​something worth of perfection. If you arrive and are out of luck (sell out fast), opt for the sticky bun, which happens to be similar but with nuts and caramel-​type topping.
All of Simma’s cakes scream richness! I’ve probably tried just about all of their offerings over their years, but my all time favorite has to be the black forrest — the cake my mom and dad used to always buy for my birthdays. Their German chocolate cake is also very noteworthy, as are the cheesecakes (pure gluttony layered over a tier of chocolate cake if the cheesecake wasn’t enough). One word of advice: a slice of cake may not seem like a whole lot, but believe me, it’ll hit you hard and fast. I’d be terrified to find out how much butter is used for a 12″ cake. The German Chocolate one we got recently seriously weighed almost 15 lbs. For around $ 40, it can feed an entire army.
This place is small and always busy when I go in, so be prepared to wait. They often have complimentary mini muffins for those waiting in line.
