Sparrow Collective

Sparrow Collective is one of my favorite local shops for unique jewelry and gifts. I always tell my husband he can stop in and pick anything he wants for me for a birthday, anniversary, etc., and he knows I’ll be happy! And there’s great gifts for guys too — we got my brother-​in-​law a mason jar travel coffee mug that is durable and has cool leather details, and we even scored some adorable onesies for my newborn nephew. Everyone can find something they like here! Love this place.

Very interesting unique gift shop stocked full of original local artist and artisan knickknack artsy stuff. Prices are very good considering the artistic quality. It’s a tight little space so I wasn’t comfortable the whole time in here, I felt like a bull in a… well you get the idea. Still, I didn’t break anything, the salesperson did, so that gives you an idea of how challenging the space is. They have some of the most interesting cufflinks I’ve ever seen, so I’m hoping some wife might read this review. Check in with Unilocal for a discount.

This place is pretty awesome. I LOVE to go in here and I always bring friends. Everything is made by local artists and there are some very unique things here. It is a perfect place to buy gifts for people because you know they will not already have anything like it. As many have stated, this is not a «crafty» store. This is high quality stuff. The jewelry is my favorite part because there is such a wide range of really beautiful and unique things. I also love that most of the women’s clothing is made from very soft materials. I have 2 pairs of leggings I got from there and I am always looking for more.
Staff are nice and friendly and willing to give information about things. Their stock changes very frequently, apparently sometimes even daily. There is no reason not to stop back in every once in a while unless you are trying to save money.
Things that aren’t so great: I don’t like is some of the wall hangings or prints they sell, to me, do start to go a little more «crafty». Some can be very overpriced and are absolutely not worth anywhere near the amount they’re being sold. Another thing that is unfortunate is that because it is all hand made it’s not always the most amazing quality. I had a necklace I bought break on my walk home from the store. The «charm» fell off the chain and I only noticed later it was gone. They were very nice about replacing it. I also had a ring break from simply pressing my thumb onto it. The ring in the photo was dropped a short distance, and the rocks in it broke… I was able to hot glue them together thankfully. So, unfortunately while I originally gave this place 4 stars… I have to change it to 3 just because the quality of a LOT of the jewelry I’ve gotten is not good. I am not a clumsy person, I am careful with my stuff, but honestly a lot of it has just broken for no reason.
I love that on gallery night, they had up a lot of children’s art. I think that was awesome and it just furthers my respect for the place. I also like that it is not too cramped inside.

They even offer a frequent buyer punch card! SWEET!

Remember when you were a kid, shopping with your mom at some horrible department store and when you got to some part of the store where anything was remotely breakable she’d snap «HANDS AT YOUR SIDES!». That’s kind of how I felt inside Sparrow Collective. They have a ton of small, somewhat kitschy and totally breakable trinkets and gifts and my sasquatch ass felt like I was one wrong step away from tearing it all down. Most of the stuff here is for the she folk. Pillows and shit. Makeup, special little stationary, jewelry. You get the gist. They also have a small selection of mens products like pine tar soap, pint glasses (Because women don’t drink. Or poop. Or so I’ve been told.), and t shirts. A lot of the gear here is Milwaukee or Wisconsin themed and fittingly so. Milwaukee is the greatest place in the world and everybody knows it. I scored a bottle of beard oil and a rad Wisconsin hoodie that says REPRESENT (as I am wont to do). This is an awesome little boutique and the perfect place to find a unique gift for those special persons in your life. Just don’t fucking break anything. Your mother mill be pissed.

Such a great stop for locally made art, accessories and fashion! I can’t visit without buying a pair of handmade earrings or an awesome t-​shirt. Definitely the place to shop for someone who likes standing out or one of a kind finds.

I’ve been in Sparrow a couple times now and love going back because every time is a new experience with new art, soap, and other handmade goods.
Sparrow has a lot of appeal to women-​but there’s also a lot of cool stuff for guys-​hoodies, Milwaukee T’s, beer soap/​lotion/​candles, beautiful local art and more.
Sparrow has a great collection of Moot Soap-​one of my favorite local handmade soaps. There’s also a handful of other Moot goods: deodorant, oils, scrubs, etc.
Sparrow is a tiny shop with a ton of charm. Give yourself a good chunk of time-there’s a lot to browse and take in. Great for the Milwaukee enthusiast in your life!

This is a cute little shop and isn’t far from the main KK corner in Bayview, so wander over once when you’re in the area and see what you find.
Most of their items were from local artists/​local purveyors of various things which is nice, but certainly makes that adorable REPRESENT onesie out of my price range at $ 24 each. We did find a cute gift item for a friend, and if we had stopped in before we were almost done with our holiday shopping we might have picked up a few more. Lots of jewelry, some fun oddball items, a fair amount of lotions/​soaps/​etc that all lean a little mother-​earthy, but that’s probably good for all of us.

A really great place to find out of the ordinary Milwaukee and Wisconsin memorabilia to give to your friends who know longer live here or to bring out of town guests to in order to purchase a cool tourist item. Their jewelry selection is amazing. I totally love how cool this place is. They have a small selection of clothing for men, women, and babies. Moreover, it’s just a chill, trendy, artsy place to look for some cool, modern items.
Not the best selection of things, and I feel like the prices were too high for some of the items — so no 5 star rating. But I highly recommend this place.

Love Sparrow. It’s not just that I like to shop local, but that I want most of what is in the store. I was able to get my entire family gifts here yesterday and stick to my budget and know that they will all really like their gifts. Just a great place to stop to pick something up for someone for any occasion, I know it’s my go to!

I did not have a pleasant experience with Sparrow. I purchased two overpriced tshirts there as gifts and was not impressed with the customer service. After trying to return the shirts, I was told that I could either have an exchange or store credit. I opted for store credit. Since I was returning 3 items, I was told that I would need to be given 3 separate store credit certificates. That hardly made sense but I went with it anyway. As the woman began the store credit process, she asked if I could please «just go look around» since it was going to take her awhile. I found that to be rude and inconsiderate. Overall, I was not pleased with this experience. In the past, I have enjoyed wandering through the store and purchasing their cute, local products. I think if they come up with a better system for returns and store credit I would be more willing to return.

It’s rare that I find a store in which I can buy so many things for all sorts of people. This store is that. Especially if that special someone is an out-​of towner, or someone that moved away from Milwaukee, this is the perfect place to get them a touch of home.
Lot’s of amazing jewerly, a good baby selection (for those hipster baby showers) and a lot of other great knick-​knacks. The merchandise is for sure 5 stars.
Only reason I don’t give it five stars is that the woman behind the desk isn’t always the friendliest. It’s sort of hit or miss. She’s nice, but also very lucky her merchandise is great to go back for.
Oh, and the Unilocal coupon is no longer accepted. Kind of a bummer.

Love, love, love this place! Every time I’m in town I must hit up Sparrow Collective. Such an incredible collection of local, hand made art, clothing, jewelry, pottery, kids clothes and toys, and tons of stuff you can’t live without. It’s a perfect place to buy gifts for everyone! Went here to Shop Small on Small Business Saturday and wish I would have checked in for the 10% off offer– awesome! Don’t miss this shop!

I’m sad I only discovered this store a year ago! It is such an awesome store. Every time I go in, I have to narrow my purchase down by a few items because there’s so many things I love. They have a great price range of items as well. Be sure to check this place out if you’re every in need of a unique gift, or a little pick-​me-​up for yourself :)

Stopped by yesterday while killing time between a meeting and a haircut, and was so pleased to see that they had so much more, well… STUFF than last I was there.
Clothes, jewelry, art, cards, handmade lotions/​soaps, stuff for kids, accessories, picture frames, neckties, handmade pottery… I could go on and on and on, and now, there’s even more of it! Suffice it to say that this hyper-​local, MKE-​centric spot has something for everyone, and if you gift from Sparrow, you gift handmade and unique, which is always a good thing to do.
Five freaking stars! Worth a stop if you’ve never been if you find yourself in the Bay View area, and definitely a spot that should be on your radar when it comes to finding unique, one-​of-​a-​kind gifts for friends and fam.

So many fabulous things about, and in this store, what’s not to love?
Everything is handmade, unique and showcases the efforts of local artists.
There’s baby clothes and accessories which are great for gift giving. There’s original jewelry and witty magnets. There’s tee shirts and beautiful scarves.
Many items are repurposed; old tee shirts become scarves, worn lampshades are now wall hangings and used tires are eclectic bracelets and necklaces.
No amount of pictures could do this wonderful little local store justice. You really need to make a trip there and check things out for yourself.

A very unique selection of local gifts, art and jewelry. This is my place to go for handmade (and very funny) cards for various occasions. They also have a nice selection of magnets. Some of the bird themed ones are hilarious! My girlfriend loves all of the gifts I have purchased her from here. :-)

I want to buy most of the things in this store. Sparrow has something for everyone — baby clothes, handmade bags, candles, lots of jewelry, neckties for the menfolk and tons of stuff for the home. Some of my favorites:
*Golden Girls refrig magnets. Everyone needs these.
*Some sort of grooming product called «Sex Hair». I assume it’s something you spray in your hair to look sexy vs. ummm… basically anything else. Because that would be gross.
*Baby hats with ears — I don’t like kids but they look adorable in hats with ears.
*Lots of Wisconsin themed items including a onesie emblazoned with «Made Locally». TMI.
*Fun greeting cards with sayings like «Let’s Get Together and Drink Beer and Eat Waffles». Sound advice right there.
I left with some reasonably priced candles and a fun Halloween necklace. As others have noted, the staff here is «disinterested». Prices are reasonable and the store is fun to browse all the same.

Love their jewelry selection — you can find something for everyone’s type of style. They also have a fantastic selection of really unique cards. Take a peek in the back too — they have a small, but decent, selection of fabric and sewing supplies.
When we went the credit card machine wasn’t working, which was pretty inconvenient. Lucky we had cash otherwise we would have had to leave empty handed.

Stumbled upon this shop while waiting to meet a friend for lunch nearby. What a pleasant surprise! I thought it might be just full of junky arts-​and-​crafts local stuff, but it was actually full of surprisingly great items.
Lots of gorgeous handmade earrings (not that they look handmade, you can just tell that’s the MO of the store). I picked up a sweet pair of brass bird earrings. Was tempted by many of the earrings in fact (they have a lot of cute feather ones if you’re still on that trend) and jewelry in general. Lots of unique necklaces, bracelets, rings, etc. Lots of industrial type materials (brass, copper) but plenty of delicate charms as well.
Some cute headbands (feathers! zippers!), funny magnets (I got one that says «Reading is sexy) and cards and pretty journals. Some cute clothing, though it’s pretty limited options. Will definitely be stopping back here for baby gifts sometime — they have little Hendrix tees!
