Nice selection of stogies, but the place is too small to sit and enjoy a cigar. Very limited seating. Ventilation was very poor, had to leave as it was WAY too smoky to enjoy anything. My clothes wreaked like never before. I frequent cigar lounges all over the country, but I’ve never seen, or smelled, anything quite this bad. I’ll pass on this place if I want to enjoy my stogie.

This is the go to spot got cigars that are close by for a nice walk at night. The staff is always friendly and polite to answer question and offer suggestion

What can I say that hasn’t already been said about how amazing this place is? Dave and his wife Jessy are the main reason I come in there. Sure, I could buy cigars for cheaper elsewhere, or I can smoke on the patio, but you can’t buy what Uhle’s has to offer… A warm, friendly, knowledgable, and personable staff, a beautiful lounge, and the BEST customer service around. I don’t even have to call to reserve some rare smokes that come in! I just swing by and they tell me they saved some for me and that is something you can’t put a price on. If you haven’t been to Uhle’s tobacco yet, get off your ass, stop on in, light up a stogie, and experience Milwaukee’s BEST cigar shop.

Love this shop. Great environment and the staff has always had great recommendations. On a recent viisit I was accidentally double charged for something and didn’t notice. Before i could call them, they credited my card back right away after they realized their error. Fantastic service and the only cigar shop I use now.

The people are friendly selection is fantastic, I highly recommend that if your in town go in for a visit, and tell them sugaray sent you !

I have been coming here for years now on and off but for the last month I’ve been here a few times each month enjoying the member’s lounge (if you buy a cigar there, you are a «member» to enjoy it in the back lounge).
I’ve been visiting other cigar lounges in the area and Uhle’s is the only proper one in Milwaukee proper.
Parking is a pain since of where it is located but after you find parking and walk in, the staff is always friendly and helpful. The selection is in the counter units with a humidor for infused cigars, and a side wall humidor that has some of their house-​blends and other styles. The selection isn’t the best in the greater Milwaukee area yet it is the best selection in Milwaukee proper.
The staff is more than willing to help you pick out a cigar if you tell them what you like/don’t like, price point, occasion, etc. They will teach you proper cutting technique and provide different lighters for you to try. The staff really loves working here and will tell you all about the building, the history, cigars, etc.
The back lounge gets packed quickly since it can only seat around 5 or 6 people yet you can stand or sit at one of the bar height stools in the pipe tobacco area or up front by the cigars. There is a downstairs «private» lounge if you come in with a group that you can go down there.
Definitely worth a stop in if you’re in the area to enjoy a nice smoke.

Very nice place and very friendly knowledgable staff. A friend and I stopped in on Saturday night. It was our first time in Milwaukee and went there based off of reviews. They have a great selection of cigars as well as cutters, lighters ect… They have a very nice selection of pipes and pipe tobacco as well. I was very impressed with everything.

I stopped there while I was in town on business. It’s a real nice place with real nice people and service. No alcohol served.

No better place to smoke a cigar indoors than at Uhle’s.
The employees are knowledgeable and helpful, the cigars are top-​notch, and the lounge is perfect. You can bring your own alcohol and they provide the cups. The «members only» lounge is open to anyone who purchases a cigar, and it’s a great place to meet people, exchange business cards, and chat.

I’m not much of a smoker. But when I do, I go to Uhle’s. Actually, I wouldn’t consider myself a smoker at all but I do fancy the occasional pipe. So when it came to purchasing a pipe of my own, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. A friend and I went here after discovering our mutual interest in learning more and that’s exactly what we did. Walking in, we directly headed to the wall of pipes where a staff member met us and explained the different styles and purposes we could find. Being the novices that we are, this was extremely helpful and I’m glad the staff was patient enough to talk us through what we could purchase (even if we were straying away from the more expensive ones). If you don’t have the luck like we did finding help — don’t be afraid to ask! They will definitely take the time to guide you.
I know their hours are posted outside, but it’s always difficult for me to tell when they’re open. The way the store is laid out, you wont see too much light shining through the window. If they look closed, check before making an assumption!
If you’re looking for pipe tobacco, Uhle’s has a variety of blends available and canisters to sniff before purchasing. They also have your typical pre-​packaged tobacco if you have an old favorite or are looking for the blend grandpa use to smoke.
Friendly service? Nostalgia? Old fashioned smoke shop? Sign me up!

As a business traveler, I always google the city I am visiting and «Cigar» to find a freindly place to enjoy a nice smoke and meet locals.
I found Uhle’s a couple years ago and since then have always made it a stop when in Milwaukee. Good smokes, a freindly atmosphere and good company. Highy recommended.
Another beneift about this shop is that you can open a tab and get a drink at Stir (a bar in the same building through the back door) and enjoy a nice drink with your favorite stick.

When life hands you lemons, I say light up a cuban seed cohiba and let the stress melt away. Well, I never have actually never said that. In fact I’m not a big cigar smoker but in the event that I become a father, attend a bachelor party, or get involved in a high stakes poker game I would head on over to Uhles Pipe Shop to load up.
This store is a Milwaukee institution originally founded in 1939 by John Uhle, although located on Michigan Ave two blocks away from the current location. Uhle’s keeps alive the long standing, culturally entrenched use of tobacco to relax, enjoy the company of ones compatriots, and even conducting business. Like an urban golf course.
Uhle’s has a great collection of cigars, pipes, pipe tobacco, and other accoutrement. The sales associates are quite knowledgeable. Also, there is a back smoking room where you can enjoy some indoor smoking. They also permit you to bring your own alcohol. Bonus! So sit down next to an autographed picture of Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Cosby, or Harry Connick Jr. and strike a match!

You’re reviewing a pipe shop? Whaaaa?
OK so my bf got turned on to a once-​in-​a-​while cigar while visiting the Keys and just chilling outside with a glass of wine. So, we thought we’d see what was in our backyard and lo and behold, Uhle’s.
This place seems to be a mecca of all things tobacco. They do not have a humidor — instead the cigars are in individual cases like back in the day. When we stopped in, there were a few people relaxing with a drink from the bar next door and smoking inside (the only drawback for me — I can’t stand the smoke, and 10 minutes in here made my hair and my jeans stinky).
4 stars is for the amazing knowledgeable staff. The gentleman who helped us really asked good questions to see what we might like and when I was hesitant about a cigar he thought I would like, he said I could have it for free and then come back for more if it was what I wanted (bonus!).
Def will be back here anytime I need a gift, etc.

How can a non-​smoker bestow the «Yay! I’m a fan,» four-​star rating upon a smoke shop… a place that sells the stuff that I now cannot stand? (Cigars and smokes and blech blech blech! Blech.)

Two reasons:
1. Non-​cigarette smoking smoking culture (cigars, pipes) seems ridiculously classy and classily ridiculous to me in this antiquated, old boys’ club kind of way. Don’t get me wrong… this too is also gross, but sometimes, people like to smoke cigars when babies are born or whatever. And while pipes may evoke thoughts of dudes in top hats going hunting with dogs that can smell things really well, or some Masterpiece Theatre kind of nonsense, there’s a place for it. This place, because, well… some people dig it. For those people who dig tobacco in the more lofty sense of the word who happen to reside in and around Milwaukee, Uhle’s is it. Knowledgable staff, tons of product. Old-​timey awesomeness.
2. I used to smoke, many, many moons ago. I loved it. I hate it now, but I loved it then. And then? My favorite were the French cigarettes Gauloises, and I could never find them anywhere. Except Uhle’s. See?

I needed to purchase some cigars as a birthday gift for my brother recently. I took to Unilocal to find the best cigar shop and it appears it’s Uhle’s by the mile. I couldn’t agree more.
I am completely clueless when it comes to cigars. Truth be told, I do enjoy one every now and again but I’d be hard pressed to recommend anything outside of Macanudo’s or H. Upmann’s. I love the smell and the heavy dense smoke that envelopes you. So I needed to rely on an honest reputable business to help me with my purchases.
I walked in equipped with a single Brand name to help me complete my mission. The first thing I noticed was the aroma, a customer was smoking a cigar near the cash register an it wafted up to me. One of the staff immediately sensed I was out of my element and asked, to my relief if he could help me. My biggest fear was going to a Cigar Shop and being condescended to by a snob for my lack of knowledge. He was very friendly and down to earth and put me at ease immediately. I told him I wanted to buy a gift for someone at that all I knew is he liked «Acids». He knew the brand, brought me over to the grouping and explained the differences in the cigars and also made some suggestions. He was spot on, after opening the gift my brother exclaimed that they were his favorites.
While he was ringing me up I notices a display case of cigarettes and noticed they had packs of Djarum Cloves. My eyes lit up, I had heard they were not legal to sell anymore. I inquired about them and he explained they made some changes to get around the laws and make them legal to sell again. Score!
I cannot recommend Uhle’s enough whether you’re a cigar illiterate as I am or a connoisseur you will be pleased by the level of service and the selection they have to offer.

Pretty sweet smoke shop on Wisconsin Ave. I happened to notice this place in passing one day while wondering where I could go to replace the tobacco missed while living in Texas. On a whim, I popped in and loved the place.
I’m not a hardcore cigar or pipe smoker. Cigars are one of those things I’ll do when it’s a part of the current distraction (bachelor parties, poker night, my last date with your sister, etc) but pipes are more interesting to me.
Growing up, I had a grandather who smoked one and the nostalgia from smelling pipe smoke is something I adore. I picked up a pipe while stationed in San Antonio and was given a starter education at a great shop there.
As a novice, I’ve found the staff at Uhle’s to be extremely friendly and helpful with my 1001 questions about care, pipes and tobacco. As I understand it, their tobacco pricing is very reasonable, as is the selection and quality.
I’d highly recommend coming here for at least an introductory visit.

Wait! I don’t even like cigars! So what am I doing in a cigar shop?!
The folks at Uhle’s were nice, friendly, and let the non-​smokers hang out and shoot-​the-​bull with them. I know nothing of cigars but they seemed to have a big selection, along with all types of cigar and pipe accessories. The little lounge area is quite nice and a great way to meet some locals.
On a recent visit, Uhle’s became our meeting spot (because that’s where we could find Andy M.) so I was there at least three times in one day. Again… I don’t even like cigars! But this place was just so fab.

This may be one of the easiest reviews I’ve ever had to write. I made three trips to this establishment in one day. In other words, I couldn’t get enough of this Milwaukee Gem. Uhle’s can be described in two words, MAN HEAVEN!!!
The Gods of Cheese and Bernie Brewer were smiling on me on my trip to Sconni (Wisconsin for the uninitiated). Our hotel was 100 yards from Uhle’s front door.
On my first visit of the day, I purchased a couple of lovely Ashton’s and a CAO La Traviata. Then later in the day, my wife wanted to go shopping across the street, so instead of getting caught up in the hell that’s Black Friday weekend, I happily headed back to Uhle’s to smoke a delicious Fuente. After our late lunch, the ladies wanted to go back to the room to freshen up, so me being the Gentleman that I am, I stayed out of their way and headed back to (you guessed it), Uhle’s to smoke another Ashton. On my last visit, the staff was taking bets that my Credit card wouldn’t work due to the five purchases I made that day, but my Chase card worked like a charm.
The Staff is wonderful. They all share the same love for Cigars that I do. They really know their shit. Based on what I purchased, they introduced me to some new Cigars that were right in line with what I like to smoke. The store was stocked to the nines with all of my favorites. They had a wide variety of Ashton’s Guhrka’s and Rocky Patel’s. The prices were at least 20% cheaper than the high end smoke shops in Chicago.
The smoking lounge is small but comfortable. A Cigar lounge is only as good as the people who smoke there. The crowd at Uhle’s were friendly and fun. They made my visit a wonderful experience.
The Bottom line is: If you are looking for a five star Cigar experience at a affordable price, head on down the Uhle’s. The staff is fun, friendly and really know their Cigars. The smoking lounge is a wonderful place to light one up and relax. I doubt if there will be a future trip to Milwaukee where I won’t stop by and pick up a few sticks.

This is a tobacco shop I wasn’t disappointed in checking out, as I happened to pass it while spending time in downtown Milwaukee in October this year. The selection of pipes, cigars, pipe accessories, and other tobacco items definitely didn’t disappoint, and would be a very ideal place for someone into smoking cigars or pipes to shop at. (albeit I’m not a cigar or pipe smoker)
Staff is very friendly here, and they even have a website where you can browse the products they sell. Very cool to think they’ve been in business for about 7 decades, but also be aware beforehand that they’re closed on Sundays.
