The service was friendly, the price was right, and they did the job just fine. I’m giving them a 2 star review because while I was walking around killing time waiting for my oil change to be complete, I walked up to a convenience store and saw my vehicle sitting in the parking lot. It appears my car was being used for someone’s personal soda/​snack errand.

Was scheduled for maintenance. Apparently they were moving to new location (was not initially told). Showed up on time, however they said their equipment was not ready because of the move. It was hard for me to set up the time for this appointment. They did not call to cancel. This used to be a great neighborhood facility. But obviously they don’t care about their customers. I will not be going back.

My recent experience with Bridgetown was very sour. The owner seems dishonest and after big jobs that cost the consumer big money.
I used Bridgetown Automotive for five years and used to find them to be fantastic. Then, they recently lost their extraordinary shop manager. He was a very honest guy and the reason they have such good past reviews. The owners now run the show and my experience with one was that he was dismissive, dishonest, and confrontational. I took my car in because it would crank and not start. The shop charged a nearly 2 hour assessment fee to figure out was wrong. The shop owner gave me an original estimate of around 2,000 to fix the problem. He said I’d neglected the car, but I’d been bringing it to them for the past five years for regular maintenance. I was ready to sell the car, but he said he’d check some things and came back with an estimate around 1,000 that would fix the starting problems. He said their diagnosis showed a problem with the fuel pump, even though we noticed no problems with acceleration or leaking. I trusted their judgement on this. We had it fixed, and the same night I got it back, the car had the same exact problem with a long cranking.
I wanted to bring it back, this time electing to have them pick it up since it was difficult to drop it off between working and childcare to get over there. On two occasions, they missed the pick up time, once not even picking up that day, and not even calling to say they wouldn’t be there. When they eventually got the car and found the problem, they said it’d be another couple hundred bucks to fix. When asked why the other work did not fix the problem, the shop owner said it was a separate issue. I wanted a second opinion and went to another shop. This other mechanic found the problem right away. They could tell the long cranking was due to starting issues and said they saw no other signs of fuel pump problems ever (apparently they could tell by both codes and that fuel had been bleeding over from spark plugs with the starting problem). In their words, the expensive work that had been done at Bridgetown, was the reason many mechanics had the reputation of dishonesty. Or, Bridgetown was simply incompetent, and that all symptoms of the car suggested what the real problem was. I actually got a third opinion that confirmed this very same thing, and this time the opinion came from a Honda master technician.
So I got the car fixed at this other shop and am happy to have found them. I called the owner of Bridgetown also after the whole fact. I was very calm, and thought he’d want to know what happened for the sake of his shop and its reputation. I thought he might even try to offer an explanation or even an apology of sorts. He didn’t seem to care a bit that his shop took a lot of money, and did not fix the one problem we brought it in for. He got defensive and said the problem was my fault that I’d elected not to fix the real problem. This was bologna. Had he simply fixed the actual problem, we could have had a working car for half the price we paid them to do unnecessary work. Plus, having been charged for diagnosis should have resulted in them actually finding the real problem.
My wife also called him once during the whole ordeal and he raised his voice at her. I will not ever be going back to Bridgetown. The owners seem to want to up sell on everything. They seem as if they want to go with the most expensive solutions first, and the fact that the owner would not even hear me out about the second opinion showed just how little he cared about a once long-​time customer.

Listen, I have had some horrific experiences with repair shops. Like scaringly bad. Not this place. I will NEVER take my car ANYWHERE else. Ever. If I wrack my brain, I can find not one complaint about Bridgetown Auto. I have been coming here for 7 or 8 years now, the level customer service and quality of work is beyond consistent.
EVERY TIME I call to make an appointment, they are accommodating, friendly, and prompt.
EVERY TIME they quote me a price, it has actually been less. In 8 years, every time.
EVERY TIME I bring my car in, they explain to me what is wrong and NEVER talk to me like I’m some dumb girl who won’t understand. If you are a petite female, you will understand how rare this is.
EVERY TIME I check my car in, Gordy (who runs the front desk) is just awesome.
For the majority of the years that I have come here, I have been a single mom with a crappy car, making every penny count. They have always treated me and my beater with as much respect as a wealthy man and his new Mercedes. Thank you for being a business that I can trust and know that you always take care of me.

DON’T TRUST THIS GUY! I bought a vehicle from the owner of this business. He said it came with a second Engine and a bunch of parts that you can’t get anymore because of the rarity of the car. (Older diesel Lynx) When I called to schedule the engine pick up, unfortunately the first time my cell phone fell in the water and I was not able to either get there or call him. When I called him shortly after that, and every other time since then, he has told me he is on vacation. Unfortunately now my calls just go to voicemail. After months of persistent calls and no explanation I am giving up with this review. Just saying, this guy does not keep his word. As a local business owner this does not sit well with me at all. I will put an update if he ever decides to give me the engine and parts.

I never leave rotten reviews, but after going here I thought I should warn others. I came in for an oil change and tire rotation but left with a tire that was assembled poorly. I’m unsure what was going on but the wheel kept rubbing against the brake pad making an abrasive sound while driving. This sound was heightened to a screech when reversing. I took the car back into the shop to fix it and they told me that I need to replace all of my brakes, pads, calipers etc. Keep in mind that I did this 2 months earlier. They also said that my coolant hoses and tubes all needed to be replaced. They told me that they are surprised my tire didnt fall off while driving.
I drove away and the sound from the tire was gone. They lied about the problem being the faulty brakes. I took my car into a number one japanese auto and after looking at the car they said that everything was fine. As for the coolant, they couldnt find a problem.
Bridgetown either has a bizarre way of finding issues, or scams «city» people into buying things they dont need. Don’t go here.

I dropped my car off on a Monday for Bridgetown to diagnose why my check engine light was on, and I didn’t get my car back until A WEEK later the next Monday (at 4 pm right before they closed). They initially diagnosed about 10 easy-​to-​fix issues, the most severe being transmission work. However, after the were done then they «discovered new issues» that was going to cost an extra 600 $ and an addition 5 days of labor, and they’re not open during the weekend. I am very very upset it took so long for them to finish when it shouldn’t take more than one day. What REALLY makes me upset is that Bridgetown does not offer rental cars, nor do they go the extra mile. Considering my car was sitting in their shop for an entire week, it would have been nice if they vacuumed my carpet floor or washed my windshield. Although my car is in fact running well, I am unimpressed and will not return.

Got new license plates and my screws weren’t budging. Popped over to Bridgetown minutes before closing and they got my new plates on in a jiffy. Didn’t charge me a thing!
Helpful staff and quick service! Kind of an awkward intersection to navigate, but I won’t fault them for geography.

A few months ago, my check engine light came on. I went to Bridgetown because it was the closest shop to me, and little did I know that it would be the world’s biggest disappointment. First of all, they charged me over $ 100 just to LOOK at my car and tell me what was wrong with it. Not to mention that they kept my car at their shop for almost 7 hours, and told me it would be finished and ready to pick up within 2 hours. At the 2 hour mark, I called the shop to ask when I could come by… I had to call once an hour all day to finally get a time estimate. They did not need my car for 7 hours just to look under the hood and check what was wrong.
They told me that my power steering fluid would need to be replaced and that it would cost about $ 1,000. One thousand dollars, for fluid that costs less than ten dollars at Auto Zone. This place is a total rip off. They also listed numerous other repairs that my car needed, totaling over $ 500. Since then, I have taken my car to two other shops in Portland, and was told that those repairs were not needed (made-​up) and that my car was fine.
Do not take your car here.

Last week my husband called and made an appointment for today. He reminded them of the 4^th of July weekend and was told no problem, we could bring the car in at 8am.
My husband provided them with his number in case they needed to reach us.
We arrived promptly at 8am today. It’s now almost 10am, and they are still not open. Guess they decided to take the day off and didn’t bother to tell us.
Colossal waste of our time.

I initially went into Bridgetown Automotive three months ago. I purchased their oil change special and they did a great job. I went back yesterday to have an oil change and also have them inspect my rotors because my steering wheel was shaking each time I applied the brakes at speeds above 40 – 50 mph. I made an appointment online, dropped the car off, and got a call about 90 minutes later that it was good to go.
When I went in, they handed me a printout, told me where my car was, and thanked me. Which was odd. Because there was no mention of my rotors – the thing I had asked them to inspect in writing when I made my online appointment and verbally when I dropped the car off.
So I asked about the rotors. And the guy says he is looking it up and then tells me I need to replace the rotors. «Okay,» I say, «did you prepare me an estimate for that?» And he clearly didn’t have one prepared because he sort of rolls his eyes at me and begins clicking and typing. I wonder silently why he’s visibly frustrated in this situation.
He does throw out a number for new rotors and labor. But, while I was waiting for this number, I notice the printout he handed me when I arrived. And it indicates I have a torn right front axle boot and a leaking timing chain tensioner. Again, I am completely perplexed that he didn’t think to mention this to me or offer a quote to repair it. So I ask about it. Again, the throws out an estimate. And, again, he is clearly frustrated.
I leave feeling like A) nobody probably even looked at my rotors and B) put off by the poor customer service.
Not anxious to return to Bridgetown Automotive, today I take the car to two separate mechanics for quotes. And what I hear makes me even more disappointed with Bridgetown’s service…
Both of the other mechanics told me my front brake pads were completely worn and in need of replacing. In addition my rotors need resurfacing and not replacing. Lastly, neither mechanic could find the leak or tear Bridgetown claimed I had.
I’m still shaking my head here. I don’t understand how Bridgetown missed the brake pads if they did a thorough inspection? And how they misdiagnosed a tear and a leak. The entire thing seems sketch to me and I won’t be returning.
So, why two stars and not one? Because my initial visit was good and the lady who works the desk has mighty fine customer service skills.
If you’ve read this entire tome, go have a beer (you’ve earned it) and research another repair shop; this is not the one you’ve been looking for.

We’ve been taking our two cars (aging Subaru Outback and even more aging Honda CRV) to Bridgetown Automotive for about 6 or 7 years now. They’ve always made reasonable recommendations, and they’ve worked on prioritizing/​spacing them out when money has been tight for us. There was one time a little while back they hired someone who seemed to be a little too zealous on the up-​sells. I said something to Gordon about how uncomfortable it made me. He thanked me for telling him, and I never saw that other guy again. They do complimentary pick up and drop off. They’re just super easy to deal with and totally low maintenance. I’ve never had any issues with their work in all these years.

I cannot trust these guys! I’ve been told that my car needed extensive repairs costing nearly $ 1000 by Bridgetown Automotive. However, taking the same car to another mechanic, the problems were minor and under $ 150. So, I’m avoiding these guys as they are motivated by money alone.

As always… excellent work performed by Bridgetown Automotive. They picked up my car, did the work right on schedule and the bill came in under their estimate… YES!!! If you want a good, reliable and fair auto shop, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Bridgetown Automotive!

I came before my scheduled appointment, but they got me in and out before the scheduled appointment time. Plus they were very nice and attentive. Sweet!

My 90 year old parents have been going here for years, the last work was $ 2000. After I reviewed and spoke with other shops found that they charged them almost $ 400 to change the spark plugs at 63,000 miles when they were 100,000 plugs. After a number of meetings they gave back $ 400. The oil gasket was $ 600, I showed them pictures of garbage floor after 8 years and just some drops. Their comments was” we can make any recommendation we want, we here to make money, they can either say yes or no. I asked the car has 63,000 miles just how bad is a drip gasset, oh not for us to say. In the last 3 years almost $ 4000 in work on things that 4 other mechanics have a hard time believing would be needed.
In short after 7 years going here they will never go back. They charge dealer prices and think because they give a 24 month guarantee it lets them do it.
We in America have an obligation to take care of our senior citizens not take them for as much as we can so that as an business owner we can say «we here to make money»

I visited Bridgetown for an oil change, in spite of all the negative reviews I found here. Honest and WONDERFUL service, efficient, helpful.
In addition to the oil change I had mentioned that my trunk was broken and they should ignore the dashboard light. They asked if they could check into it and when I came back to pick up my car they had fixed it free of charge and even gave me an estimate on things my aging car really needs help with. Honestly pleasant and friendly people.

So to add to my reviews, the store manager acted like he planned to make things right. He ask me for a few things, like emailing the invoice from the Toyota dealership. I did everything he asked and they can’t respect their costumes enough to call me back. It’s been a couple weeks now, no email no phone.
Don’t waste your time with this people.

After taking my car in to these guys several times at the recommendation of my cousin, I will never take another car there again. I took my 2001 dodge intrepid in to get some work done because my check engine light had been on since I got the car. The first time I went in, they said the only thing was aminor gas leak. they ‘fixed it’ and I left, only to come back a few weeks later with the check engine light on with the same problem. They ‘fixed’ it again, and several weeks later, I was back and this time oh! my brakes are going out. They installed the new brakes and i drove for about a year (giving up on the engine light) before taking it to another mechanic who discovered that the brakes were installed UPSIDE DOWN! I was essentially driving with no brake pads.
Take your car elsewhere. Or have them explain everything they do to your vehicle as they go. A mechanic should know how to install parts properly.

Well at this point I will NEVER do business with them again (still waiting to see if they make it right). 5 months ago my car was making a knocking noise, it’s a newer Toyota camry. I took my car into Bridgetown to have them look over the car. In the end they told me that It was my CV axle joint. So I paid the money and had them fix it something like $ 500 later I got my car back.
Fast forward 5 months, I took my car to get the oil changed only to find out that I had a really back tea mission leak on a car that is just barely over 40k. I then took my car to the dealership (since I had an extended warranty). I was told that all of this was do to the new axle that Bridgetown put in my car. This new axle was bad or was not put in correctly. So this caused 1,000 with of damage to my car. I ended up with another new CV axle joint and a new axle seal. Like I said, this was all of 5 months after I just had it done.
I have asked that they pay my deductible, that money I’m out due to the extended warranty paying most of that. I’m so far out $ 200. Here we daw two an half days later waiting to see if they plan to do anything.
