This little Irish bar tucked in to a strip mall actually has some really amazing food! Love the sheppard’s pie!

C’mon. A Celtic bar in a strip mall? How good could it be. Actually pretty darned good! My first time here was for Happy Hour(4 – 7 daily). They have about a dozen food options for special HH prices but the first thing caught my eye were the Irish Balls. Mashed potatoes, cheese, and bacon all rolled in a ball and deep fried. How could you not love that?! I’ve also the HH Mac & Cheese, chicken strips, jalapeño poppers. All come out hot and exactly as described. They serve a limited breakfast menu on the weekends and have a different special everyday. The ambience is typical sports bar so don’t come here if you mind football, NASCAR, futbol, or basketball. The staff is super here so that makes up a bit for the lack of atmosphere. Oh, and they are constantly having some kind of themed party on Saturday nights. Back To The Future, Fireball Girls, Halloween. And let’s not forget the Karaōke nights.

Very casual local bar. Roomy with a easy walk through to the pool tables and video poker machines. Pool tables are slightly expensive for a normal 7ft. 75¢ a game FYI. Ordered a chunky guacamole bacon burger. Pre made patty with plain toppings and a generous amount to guac really overwhelmed the ability to taste the normality of the burger. Tots were fresh which is always good. If you’re looking for a local place and with not much glam then this is the place. Good bartender with nice balance in making drinks.

Doesn’t take Magellan to figure out McQuillian’s. Let’s not beat around the bush. McQuillan’s is a spruced up version of yet another gambling bar, not unlike the many Dotty’s and Lighthouse pseudo pubs you see all over. However, big difference between the former and the latter. McQuillan’s aims to please, and is all about regular customers who want good drinks and beers, with some pretty decent food. Met a buddy here for happy hour and I have to say, while I was skeptical at first, the place won me over. Service is really tops. Even having just the one bartender who had to take care of tables as well, you always get a warm friendly smile, and above and beyond service. The goal is to make you happy and have you stay awhile, not get in and get out. Very smart. Inside, you’ll find a nicely dressed back bar, clean tables and carpet, clean bathrooms, and a few tv’s with whichever game you’d like to watch. The gambling games are in the back, and don’t distract from the fun atmosphere in the front. Even being off McLoughlin this place is not the least bit seedy, and has great vibe for local blue collar folks who just want a place to come hang out. Food is pretty good. They have a nice menu with burgers, sandwiches, and a host of standard appetizers. You’ll also find a menu that’s a step above the usual bar offerings, with Zenner’s sausages and higher quality meats. I opted for the nachos, which they happily made vegetarian for me and put on all the veggies at no extra cost. At $ 7.95 I certainly got my money’s worth believe me. Negatives? Don’t go in expecting a real Portland pub. While on search sites it may get lumped in with Irish pubs and food, Irish it isn’t apart from the name and a few decorations on the wall. No Irish food either. It’s fun, it’s simple, it’s clean. Go in with a good attitude and no preconceived notions and you’ll find a warm welcome.

Went opening week, so it may have improved. Not Irish in any way. Generic-weak sports bar in every way, food, ambiance, service, and yet let’s you know you’re still in a strip mall. All of the smokers from the close by tattoo parlor smoke out the front door, so that in the summer, with the back doors open, it becomes a vortex of 2nd hand smoke. The place is sdown right lame, and to give the impression of anything close to Irish is criminal.

I must first say that I am not a connoisseur of all things Irish so please disregard this unless, like me, you just like to know about places in general. If you are an expert of all things Irish than stop now or be warned. Met a friend for Happy Hour and left thinking I’d go back. Pros: Awesome Mac n Cheese for less than $ 3 Totally amazing Irish Balls for less than $ 3 My total bill was $ 8.90(Salad and Mac n Cheese) Lots of seating Full bar Free parking Cons: TV volume was really loud but no one was watching. For a steal of a deal and some tasty food and drink, if you are in the area, I’d say go!

Couldn’t get through all the cigarette smoke at the front door but by looking inside the front door there are lots of relatives that have given good reviews of this joint. Sorry but this was for a special occasion and we couldn’t bring ourselves down to this level.

I have a new hangout! Great service. Yummy food(try the irish ball things… so good). Good cheap drinks. One thing I really like it’s they really care about making the customer happy. The first time I went there I mentioned that I didn’t like the blue cheese dressing. Second time in the owner informed me he had gotten a new brand. I was amazed he even remembered!
