ADT Dental

I’ve been going to ADT Dental for 6 years, and really like the staff and dentists here. My appointments begin on time. My hygienist is amazingly efficient and so personable. It’s like seeing a friend every six months– we just continue our conversation from the last visit. Dr. De La Torre is super efficient, like the rest of her staff, and just as nice. I don’t mind going to the dentist since I’ve been coming here! Two thumbs up and five stars.

Worst customer service I have ever dealt with in a dentist office. I tried to set up an appointment for a first time visit and they said the first availability wasn’t for 6 weeks. Kind of odd they can’t fit in a quick initial checkup for a new customer before then, but whatever, my teeth aren’t going anywhere. The day before my appointment, I had something unexpected come up so I called to try to reschedule if possible. Guess the office policy is to not reschedule new customers (so I guess if you miss that one appointment, you’re done). So fine, I end up coming to the appointment as scheduled and it turns out the person I talked to had canceled the appointment altogether. Without telling me? So they totally wasted my time over this past 6 weeks. Thanks a lot. Definitely lost me as a new customer and I would urge others to not go through the bother yourself

My sister and mom suggested this place and I couldn’t be more happy. I don’t dread going to the dentist anymore!

I was referred to ADT Dental by a friend and I couldn’t be happier! I’ve lived in Minneapolis for 15 years and finally found my dentist! Everyone from the front desk staff to the dentists are so welcoming and kind.
I showed up at my first appointment still feeling the fear from my previous dental visit, 3 years earlier at an unnamed, multi-​location, corporate dental office, where I was told I needed 9 cavities filled and full scaling. To the tune of $ 3000. It didn’t make sense to me as I’ve always taken reasonably good care of my teeth. When I showed up at ADT, they were as confused as I had been as there were NO CAVATIES! I did need some minor scaling because I hadn’t had a good cleaning in quite some time, but the hygienist, Jodi, was amazingly gentle and helped direct me on how to play some catch up with my care from home.
I’ve had two appointments in the last 2 months and I was in the hygienist’s chair within 5 minutes of my appointment time both times.
The space is clean and well cared for and while parking isn’t the greatest, I’m willing to walk a block for the care and concern they’ve given to me!

I was scheduled for a deep cleaning and three fillings.
to my surprise, the hygienist informed me that, a deep cleaning would not be sufficient, as I had gum disease.
weeks prior to this, I got X-​rays and a different hygienist and Dr. Adele Della Torre looked at my gums and teeth, and didn’t notice this?!
what was scheduled for an hour of cleaning ended up being 45 minutes of explanation and 5 minutes of «deep cleaning»
after this, I was anesthetized and sent to the waiting room.
by the time my fillings were supposed to be put in, 20 minutes later, most of the anesthesia had worn off.
I informed the doctor. Della Torre.
after this, a series of events happened that made me realize why people are «scared» of the dentist.
I’d like to point out that I have never had those feelings, but after leaving your office, I was angry and upset.
Doctor Della Torre and her assistant started the fillings while very poorly walking me through what was happening.
I couldn’t tell when I was being spoken to or when she was speaking to her assistant.
at one point, they realized the drill bit was dull. so they had to get a new one.
a battery powered device seemed to be malfunctioning even though it had «been on the charger all night»
some different brand of adhesive was used which made me feel like I was a guinea pig to some new product with out being asked or told.
all of this time, nothing was said to me, I wasn’t asked how I was doing or if I was comfortable. I wasn’t.
I felt like a car getting an oil changed with mechanics underneath it speaking in code. I’m sorry, I’m a person. treat me like one.
at one point the doctor asked me a question while the drill was in my mouth.
I responded «are you talking to me right now?»
«yes»
ok, I’m sorry I can’t hear over the drill in my mouth.
at one point, the doctor asked the assistant if «corrine» was going to make it to her appointment.
moments later water and debris was splashed onto my face. no attempt to apologize or even acknowledge.
I was never once asked if I was comfortable or how I was doing.
by the end, I was ready to tell the doctor that she needs to treat me better, but she finished the last filling and immediately left the room and had the assistant clean up.
I never knew if we were done, or if she was just taking a break.
when I walked out to the receptionist, clearly heated, nothing was said to me.
I paid, and was asked if I wanted to schedule my next appointment, to which I said «no»
absolutely not.
I walked out to my car and noticed some sort of blister or cut on my lower lip. from the adhesive?
I don’t know.
All I ask is that you treat patients like people.

I have never posted on Unilocal,but like others, I like to know what others have experienced. My first appointment, they were running 30 minutes late. No one bothered to say anything to be until I got up to put on my coat. The 2^nd, 3^rd and 4^th visits, again they were running 15 – 20 minutes late and nobody said anything. Today they tried to bill me money for work I had done in March with the attitude of «if we say you owe it, you owe it.» I had to explain the same thing three different ways. I had two receptionist talking at the same time.
As far as the actually dental appointments, I really like Dr. Knox. She was friendly and non-​judgmental. The staff were mainly nice.
Although the staff was nice, I think I am going to transfer my care. I really find it hard when they don’t bother to let the patients know when they are running behind.

This is the first time I have ever posted a review in Unilocal but I definitely do take reviews and I hope my review also helps someone.
Dentists rip your wallet. That I knew, but didn’t think it would be this much. First they told me that the dentist I wanted to get treated with falls under my insurance plan. Then they gave me satisfactory estimation for my cavities. I started with the treatment when after few weeks, my insurance gives the the correct estimate. It ended up with double or almost triple the money than estimated. This was because it did not fall under the insurance plan I was with. So insurance just covered it partially.
Regardless of the money, I went for Dr Hassleman and I loved her. She’s very patient, kind and co-​operative. She explains everything and I felt like, every extra money I spent on, it was worth spending for her services. She was at her level best to use almost everything to make the procedures more comfortable for me.
Then my time schedule didn’t match with hers towards end of my treatments due to work so I had to go with Dr Torre and boy did I find huge difference. She was in such a hurry, she didn’t co-​operate with me nor explained anything of what’s happening.
Dr Hassleman took almost 30 – 45 minutes whereas Dr Torre only took 20 – 30 minutes for such deep cavity filling of mine. Although I hope that treatment works out for me, next time for sure, I’m going with Dr Hassleman.
I irony of me still sticking ADT is that I tried going to the dentists that was listed by my insurance plan. But then again, they tired to rip me off saying I need to undergo examination which will cost me extra despite the fact that ADT had transferred my Xray to them which I think is good enough to start the procedure.
Also, their estimate was way pricy than ADT which is ridiculous. That place would be fully covered by my insurance yet, expensive. Where as, ADT, which is not fully covered by my insurance, is yet cheaper.
