This is one of the city’s oldest parks — Several men donated the land to the city in 1884, but it turns out that it wasn’t theirs to give. Ahhh, the 1880’s.
A picnic shelter was built in 1904. I also learned that Plaisance is french for «pleasantness», and you can see why. The hill overlooks Lake Harriet and there are tennis courts, grills and all kinds. Great in all season, and an interesting name with a history to match!
