It’s a bird. It’s a plane. It’s basic bitch heaven.
That’s right, I admit it. I am the quintessential basic bitch. And I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. Myself and (5) other coworkers went in for blowouts for NYE and ultimately another of our coworkers wedding.
Upon arrival they offer you a choice of beverage: champagne or La Croix. And not just your standard La Croix flavors, but the GOOD flavors. How is a basic to choose between the two? Never fear, you can have one of each if you would like.
This place is so much fun, reasonably priced, and they did a fantastic job taking care of all of us gals. Really kicked off our day right, and I WILL be back next time I have a special night out. Kudos to the entire staff at Blowdry! Blowdry Bar.

I had a beautiful curl/​wave put in my hair for my wedding and I received so many compliments! The stylist was really friendly and professional. I was amazed at the swiftness of her work and the long lasting curl I got. My appointment was at noon and by 6:30, my hair still looked gorgeous. I washed my hair the day before, so was advised that the curl would stay longer if we didn’t wash again during the appointment; perfect advice! I will definitely be back!

My blowout turned out beautifully and had friendly conversation with Ally throughout the process. I’ll definitely be back!

Abby was the consummate makeup artist. She was super sweet and really skilled (lead makeup artist at Sephora for years)! Loved working with her on my face, hahah. She took her time to make sure everything was perfect the way I wanted it for a wedding I was attending. After I left, even a random girl on the street told me I looked amazing. Yay.
Note: Lisa and Catherine, the popularly Unilocaled stylists here, are no longer with Blowdry. I think Catherine moved to Baus House or something like that.

My appointment was last night with Abby… had to get my hair fancy for my engagement photoshoot :) I have hair that is thick and long, but Abby did an incredible job! She wasn’t rushed, took her time, and was willing to make any tweaks or changes I wanted. My hair looked so good, though, I didn’t want anything changed, and the look lasted throughout the evening! I’ll definitely be a repeat customer.

Great service. I loved my stylist — she was fun, and my hair looked INCREDIBLE. I will 100% be back. We came for a bachelorette party and they were totally cool with us bringing in champagne — they provided us glasses, and even brought out popsicles when the bride said she wanted some.
I wish I remembered who my stylist was. I want her to do my hair for every event and date night from now until the end of time.

I had excellent service here. Very clean and professional with a boutique vibe. I went here for a bikini wax and Heidi was accommodating and professional. She did an excellent job and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. She maintained conversations so there were not any awkward lulls and she finished my appointment in less than 20 minutes! I have had bikini waxes before at many other places but I will continue to go here due to the price, professional and personable staff, and cleanliness. I would recommend to anyone!

I have never written a Unilocal review before but feel compelled to after my OUTSTANDING experience here. Everything about Blowdry is wonderful; from the moment you walk in the door you are pampered from someone helping you with your coat and offering you a beverage to a glorious scalp massage and comfortable shampoo beds.
Each person I encountered was incredibly professional and friendly. I had my blowout with Maureen and she was absolutely great. She made my hair look better than it ever has and I truly enjoyed talking with her during my appointment. She is incredibly talented both as a stylist and a businesswoman. I can’t recommend her highly enough. She answered all of my questions and suggested products that I asked about, but was not pushing any sales on me which I truly appreciated! I also had a wax with Heidi and it was the best waxing experience I have ever had. It wasn’t painful, she was fun to talk to, and she even gave me some coverup! I didn’t catch the receptionists name but she was also great and super helpful.
I have a ton of long, thick, curly hair which takes forever to style. I had signed up for a 60 minute appointment but even ran over that time. Unlike other places, they didn’t charge extra for the extra time or make me feel bad about it. My blowout was $ 35 even though it took significantly longer than the standard 45 minutes! In my opinion this speaks volumes to this business; they truly value their clients.
I will be back anytime I want to feel pampered and look beautiful!

I have gone here 4 times. The last time I went there, we had a large party and half the women went to Blowdry! while half the women went to Blast in Minneapolis. The women at Blowdry! had amazing blow outs that lasted all night and the next day. The women at Blast had very sad blow outs where their hair looked better going into Blast than leaving Blast.
I had a dry blow out at Blowdry (my hair is very thick and takes a long time to dry). My hair looked amazing! I was getting compliments on it 2 days later!

Love. Love. Love. It here. Whenever I am feeling lazy and don’t want to wash, dry and straighten my own hair I love to come here!
I love Maureen, and always try to book with her — but I sometimes make last minute appointments and she’s always booked. I ended up with Samantha last weekend and 4 days later I still have phenomenal hair. And I got caught in the rain a bunch!
I will most likely have a membership or package here soon– I should already since it’s my favorite treat to give myself !

I read all the reviews, and based on them I picked Lisa to do my blow dry. I have a lot of hair that is hard to style, and doesn’t hold curl very well.
Lisa has done my hair 3 times now, and every time it has been fabulous. I have DAYS of beautiful hair.
Well worth the money.

This is probably my favorite place in the world. I NEVER feel better than when I leave here.
My hair ends up incredibly gorgeous and lasts for days (and the smell of their products is incredible). Plus, who doesn’t love a good scrub and even a mini massage before the blowout?
If you’re going in, ask for Lisa. She books up for the day early on (or a few days prior) so make your appointment in advance. I’ve seen most of the stylists here and while they’re all great, no one compares to Lisa. She GETS thick hair. She understands product and how to make a style last without loading it up with hairspray. She is my favorite stylist in the cities!

To me, a proper blow out involves the following tools: a wet brush, a round brush and a hair dryer. THAT’S IT.
I’m afraid that Blowdry operates under the premise that the way to get your blow-​dryed hair bouncy is with a curling iron, which is acceptable, I suppose, but wrong. It’s not a blow out. :(
When you use a curing iron you walk a fine line between well-​polished and prom hair. Ladies and gentlemen, I left with prom hair today and now have to fix this before going out tonight.
I have had blowouts that have been amazing, at Blowdry even, but lately it seems like I get the curling iron laziness everytime I come here, even when I just request the round brush service. I can do the curling iron thing, myself. And now I am even though I just paid $ 35 for someone’s first attempt.
Hmph.

I was in town for my hubby’s company holiday party and wanted to look great so after checking out the Unilocal reviews I chose Blowdry! Blowdry Bar and I am glad I did!
Emily was my hair stylist and she was FAB. I got a blowout with a conditioning treatment, and before we got started she gave me a quick scalp massage which was heavenly, then while I got my conditioning treatment got a hand/​arm massage as well (with aromatherapy oils– so fancy!). I always thought that Blowdry Bars were kind of a «quickie» in and out type deal but this place really gives you a great experience for a great price. My hair looked absolutely amazing for the party, and looked great the next day too!
I also got airbrush makeup done, must have been the lighting in the salon but after I left I noticed the makeup was a shade or so lighter than my skin color and did not look natural so ended up taking it off, which is the only reason I can’t give 5 stars, BUT the eye makeup looked fantastic and did not wear off or smudge all night– she did a subtle cat eye and it looked great.
Will definitely return for a quick blowout on my next visit to MSP!

Yay, I felt like a million bucks after visiting Blowdry! Heath is amazing artist with makeup, gave me a smoky glamorous look that lasted all day and night! Maureen gave me a blowout that lasted into the night as well. I am a fan and will be returning. Also $ 35 per service is a great deal for the quality you receive!

I came in to town for the Monster Dash Half Marathon. Needless to say, I needed my hair down after that event. I went to the site, picked out a style, easily booked my appointment online and went in on the day of my appointment after a ton of very helpful reminders from Blowdry!
The shop is super cute and smells great. I love the concept and everyone was so friendly! Maureen put on some falsie eyelashes (my first pair) and I love them. She gave me some helpful tips ad sent me to Ally for my blowdry and style. What a great stylist! Conversation was easy and enjoyable and it felt like she was done in no time at all. I LOVED my hair. I am African-​American and have lots of curly natural hair. I left the shop with soft silky, flowy hair. Thank you Ally! Your shop makes me wish I lived in Minneapolis just so I could come back every week :-) My hair would smell so amazing all of the time! Love the organic products.

It’s wedding season… and I have to admit I’ve had my share of meh bridesmaid updos. But not here. No ma’am.
Blowdry is basically made for pre-​wedding primpery. It’s a pretty space (nice ambiance for those «getting ready» photos), relatively relaxing because it’s small. However, it’s large enough for the whole wedding party to have their hair done almost all at once (we were in two shifts and there were seven of us).
Many of us were quite hungover from the rehearsal dinner the night before, but they were all patient with us as we silently ate Egg McMuffins with sunglasses on indoors, chugging their citrus-​infused water like there was no tomorrow… and they didn’t bat an eye when one of us (I’ll never tell who) snuck away while to nap in the car face-​down so as not to muss up her coif. They got us. We got them.
Once I got in the hair-​chair, my very chic and friendly stylist asked me what I was thinking and I showed her two updo pictures I’d pinned. She ended up doing a kind of combination of the two and it was perfectly lovely. It stayed put through the windy outdoor photos and looked polished right up until I wrestled all the bobby pins out at 2 a.m.
I wish I could remember my stylist’s name so I could give her some props… I thiiiink it was Emily. Oh, and I also loved the nice N4 products they use (not animal-​tested, vegan, sulfate/​paraben-​free… essentially free of all bad things).
My bride-​friend was going for a 1920s-​1930s vibe without looking costumey, and we all had that vintage influence in our hair even though they were all unique ‘dos. Of the seven hairstyles (some up and some half-​up), six were big winners and only one was a little bit of a mess. It didn’t look that bad, but it was falling loose from the beginning. Like I said though, the rest of them (the bride especially… hair done by Lisa, I believe) came together SO beautifully.
They offer makeup services as well. In our group, just the bride had her makeup done here by a nice gentleman and she looked like a supermodel version of herself. None of this scary-​up-​close-​but-​beautiful-​in-​pictures nonsense — just plain stunning. I’m slightly picky about makeup (picky in that I don’t want to look like a clown) and I’d definitely trust them with my face too.
In short, I’m bookmarking this place for my own wedding. That’s how much I liked it.

Having sampled many of Blowdry’s services, it is about time I wrote a review. I’ll start with my most recent visit, as that was probably the most exciting. I saw Stephanie for an updo for a special night out. I was a little nervous asking for a big beehive hairdo, because you never really know if someone only did one once when they were in beauty school. But Stephanie totally knew what she was doing. She was a perfectionist, which is a really good thing when you want a specific, polished look. I got a lot of compliments that night and was happy to pass along a recommendation. Best part is that she did such a good job that it survived the night and I got to rock my big ‘ol beehive a second night for a show!
I’ve also done a bit of waxing there. I initially tried it because the prices were super competitive. Turns out they were «teaser» prices, because they recently raised the price on most services by $ 10 – 15. But I have been happy with Catherine’s work and enjoy my appointments (well, you know what I mean), so I’ll probably stick with it. Their prices now are on par with Wax Kitten, but it is much, much easier to get in on short notice. Which brings me to their online booking. It is super easy to book online and their availability is generally really good. So it is easy to just pop in.
Finally, I have also gotten a blowout there from Susie. I don’t want to give her short shrift, because my hair looked amazing. I consider myself fairly adept at doing my own hair, but I have not been able to nail the boudoir look like she did.
I’ll also quickly mention that I have been to Blast as well and not had as good of an experience as I’ve had at Blowdry. The hair sinks really hurt my head at Blast and the woman seemed pretty uninterested in doing my hair. Plus, with their set up, it is harder to see what the person is doing, which isn’t a big deal, but I like to watch and learn.

Was here on business and kept walking by, it instantly caught my eye. Adorable and inviting. Contemporary and Fun.
I checked it out online, I was going to make an appointment online but decided to wait, process seemed very simple and convenient. I was walking by and decided to stop in and made an appointment for a Brazilian Wax with Catherine. Front Desk was so helpful and helped my friend out with all her Product Questions.
Catherine was AWESOME, completely professional, made me feel totally at ease. Was very very thorough and quick. It was damn near painless. Salon was clean, waxing room was a tad small, for someone who is claustrophobic I can imagine it may bother them — I didn’t mind. Here’s the kicker — my Full Brazilian Wax was only $ 35 DOLLARS! What?! I pay 60+ back in my home town an the experience is no were near as deluxe or enjoyable.
If I lived here… I would frequent. I told about 10 people about Catherine and my Experience and I hope they went and saw her. Wish I had time or a need for a Blowout when I was there. Seemed like a perfect little self indulgence. Cant think of anything more fun than going with a girlfriend to get blown here (ha :)) before a Friday night out on the town.
Kudos to the Salon Owners who seem to have cultivated an Awesome Staff, Savvy Space and FABULOUS Price Point.
