Really bad experience today at the food truck, although I enjoyed a couple meals from them last summer. My co-worker and I had arepas(pork/veggie) which were OK, but a very small portion size. The sides of black beans we ordered were underdone to the point of being crunchy. Very disappointing after spending $ 11 per meal. Service was friendly, but I don’t want to eat here again.

If you like hot dogs in every shape and form as much as I do you need to try café racer. I don’t even know how to describe them. Tangy, sweet, salty, crunchy, soft, almost a kick of spice, but not really. I dunno, as someone who loves to cook I always find it amazing when I try something that makes me take notice. 2 for $ 7? It’s a steal… can’t wait to try their other food.

I was SOSOSO disappointed. This was my first time eating at a food truck EVER and it was so greasy and gross that I had to throw almost the whole thing away. In hindsight, I should have gone back to the truck and talked to them about it and shown them all the grease and asked what they thought of it, but I didn’t. I was SO excited too! The menu looked great, and like everything I love. I got the pulled pork with 2 sides, the roasted veggies and the carrot soufflé. The carrot thing was actually awesome. The pork was very bland and fatty and greasy, but the veggies were the worst offender. There was a straight up PUDDLE of grease in the bottom of the dish. Once I saw how much was there, it made me sick to my stomach to imagine how much was ON the rest of the food. Tossed the rest into the trash. I HATE wasting money and I HATE wasting food, so this is something I never ever do. Very disappointed. I emailed them about it, but have yet to hear back.

Quick, friendly service and high quality quality food. $ 8 bucks for a mountain of pulled pork on an face arepa with a side of rice. Pork was expertly prepared and seasoned, different flavor profile then your standard pulled pork. Paired excellent with the flavored rice, bread and sauce.

Mad props to CR! First for showing up at the coolest bicycle race of the year.(literally temps in the low thirties.) Next for the pulled pork that was crazy delicious, but not just the pork the veggies, perfectly cooked with this tang. All four of us refs got it and we were all blown away. But wait it does not stop there. As they were the only truck at the two day event with more than 200 participants, + sponsors, volunteers, promoters, officials, and spectators. The food was much tried and much talked about. We tried the hot dogs on day two good because of the toppings, the crunchy bits truly made it, but the dog is why the did not get five stars.(It was not a five dollar dog) From what I heard the chicken, and vegi opinions were worth talking about. All said and done if you see the racer put on on your helmet, because there may be a lot of competition to get the food.

If you’re in a hurry and just need to eat something, this place will do. If you’re hungry but want something you’ll really enjoy, look elsewhere. The pulled pork was OK but a little on the dry side. Definitely nothing to write home about. The bread on their«sandwich» was plain awful. No taste or flavor. $ 8 for a tiny piece of pulled pork, tasteless bread and ok veggies is not a good value. There are plenty of places that do better for less. Even though this was my first food truck experience in Minneapolis, I will not let it ruin my desire to try other vendors. Unfortunately for Café Racer, I will not be back.

We hired Café Racer to cater our groom’s dinner the night before our wedding and had a great experience. Luis and Christine are pros and the food was amazing. The food truck was great to have on site and they offered tours to our guests.

Café Racer is in a plain white food truck that is easy to miss so make sure you look for it! Their pulled pork is very tender with a perfect marriage of sweet and salty. Their carrot soufflé was heavier and a bit sweeter than I thought it was going to be. That being said, it was still tasty. The sweet plantains were actually a bit saltier than I thought they would be due to the crumbled cheese on top. The plantains were tender and very flavorful. This food truck reminded me of quite a bit of Brasa from a flavor standpoint. Well priced($ 8), decent portions and good food.

I was excited for my very first food truck experience! Parked outside Fulton Brewery were 3 trucks to choose from and I was lucky enough that this one was there with vegetarian options! I had the Arepa sandwich which came with your choice of pulled chicken, pork or balsamic roasted vegetables and one side. I had the veggies with the carrot soufflé side. My basket was prepared fast and was hot, colorful and delicious! All for $ 7. Everything on the menu is gluten free, except for the Street Dogs(bun), and has a vegetarian option. Nice!

Having never eaten Latin food before Café Racer, I have no solid comparison point. The closest thing I’ve eaten to «Latin food» is Mexican, and I think it’safe to say the two things are very different from each other. Perhaps another Unilocaler with more latin food experience will pipe in later, but for now, this is my take on it. The prices range from $ 7-$ 8 depending on whether you order an entrée or sandwich. The entrée comes with two sides of your choosing. I had the pulled pork entrée with carrot soufflé and sweet plantains. The pulled pork was fine, soft with a subltle flavor. I’ve had tastier non-Latin style pulled pork though. Café Racer’s pulled pork was fresh and light but I was expecting something with a stronger flavor… so for me, it was a little disappointing. The carrot soufflé was fresh and different from anything I’ve eaten before. I was expecting it to be moist & saccharine, but it only contained a very small hint of sweet. The soufflé is made up of shaved carrots along with some other concotion –so if you like the taste of shaved carrots, this will work for you. I, on the otherhand, had been expecting something more filling and sweeter… so, for me, it didn’t work. As for the plantains –they were fine. Bananas are always good. I’ll have to point out though, the size of the entrée, for an American-size appetite, isn’t that big. If you’re a big guy who likes a big lunch, or just very hungry for lunch that day, the entrée won’t be enough. You’ll probaby want to order something else along with the entrée. Not sure I’m too excited to try Latin food again. Maybe after a trip to Buenos Aires in the future, I’ll have more of an opinion and a better educated palette for it.

After a full season of eating at food trucks, today I tried Café Racer for the first time. If I were asked for a two word review it would be ‘Real Food’. A four word review would be ‘Really Good Real Food’. They have many many Gluten Free and Vegan options, I however, went for the pulled pork. The pork was not dry and perfectly seasoned. I was a little nervous when I opened up the box and it was not wrapped in bread and there was no ‘sauce’ on the meat, however, none was needed(it would just have ruined the flavor). I opted for their ‘entre’ for $ 8, so it came with two sides, I chose roasted veggies and rice. Both were prepared simply, which let the flavor of the grain and vegetable shine. This place is a real gem for anyone looking for a well prepared, simple, slow food meal.
