Candyland

3÷26÷16 We caught the hotel shuttle to the airport, rode the lightrail to downtown, and walked several blocks in the cold rain to come to Candyland, walked back to the lightrail station to go to Mall of America to catch the hotel shuttle back to the hotel… for a couple of bags of popcorn… it was well worth it. The chicago mix popcorn is one of the best I’ve ever tasted, it is light and flavorful.
Candyland is a small candystore that is full of various candies and popcorn. The store is clean and well-​stocked. It surprisingly had a steady stream of customers. I stood on the side while hubby was figuring out what to order. Eventually the delicious smell of popcorn made me ask for a sample of Chicago mix which they were happy to give. The worker was so nice and accommodating, it was a pleasure to shop there.

Two months ago, I entered this place for the first time to buy my nieces and nephews some candy. I figured that they would like to know that their candy came from an old-​fashioned looking candy store. Since that visit, I have been in here a couple more times for myself. This is a decent place for some good candy and popcorn.
I am thankful that they have the flashy sign, above their door, that labels the name of the business. Without it, this place would be difficult to find. The building itself resembles a parking lot. Therefore, looking at the area from a few stores down, all the businesses in that area blend so well with one another that Candyland becomes easy to miss. The flashy sign helps a lot!
I love the old-​fashioned décor of the interior. It reminds me of the candy shops that I frequented when I was a child. I do not see many of such places anymore, let alone vintage looking ones. The interior gives a unique and interesting twist to the place.
I love that this business sells an outstanding variety candy and popcorn. There is so many from which to choose that it is hard to decide quickly. I notice that they have popcorn popping at all times. If this is to maintain freshness, then they do it successfully. My popcorn purchase was given to me hot and fresh, and it tasted delicious. However, I was skeptical about the candy freshness because they appeared to have been in the glass container for a long time. It tasted fine in the end. I think that having slightly less candy in their containers would relieve the skepticism for future first-​timers.
The employees do a great job at keeping everything clean and organized. This applies to their work area and the lobby. During my first visit, I was able to find my selection without any assistance. I noticed that the employees made sure that none of the candies mixed with any other candies. My only complaint is that during their busy hours, this place can feel claustrophobic because of the combination of the small proximity and the candy boxes on the shelves. I understand that this is not entirely the business’s faulty. Besides that, I feel comfortable walking in there and ordering some food.
When I am in the area and in the mood for some candy or popcorn, I will continue keeping this place in mind. I feel like I can count on them for some good quality candy and/​or popcorn.

I wish I could take this place with me! Blows the other candystore in my hometown out of the water! Such a wide variety of chocolates to choose from, chocolate covered cherries, chocolate covered oreos, truffles, the list goes on and on and on… Such a wonderful place! And very competent and friendly staff! Even did a little something extra for my birthday!

I agree that usually Candyland is the best! Not today. Stale caramel corn. Should have tasted before I left. Will do next time

Candyland is the best! My coworkers and I go at least every other week to treat ourselves to some delicious candy and/​or popcorn. The staff is very nice and fast.
Being from Florida, I had never experienced Chicago style popcorn before Candyland. It’s a game changer. Caramel, cheese and regular popcorn all in one? Yes please.
The candy is great too. Just an overall good place. A must go to while you’re downtown!

It’s impossible to write a review about how great this place is. Any of the chocolate items are great. Turtles, this & that bars, Victorian brittle, etc. I could go on for days. Anytime you walk by this place you should stop in. The employees are always nice too.

Despite it’s name, I think of Candyland, first and foremost, as a popcorn stop. The caramel corn, cheese popcorn and Chicago mix (a combination of cheese, caramel and normal popcorn) are affordable, delicious, and addicting. We need to limit ourselves to one visit per week so that we don’t overindulge. That being said, we buy a large enough bag of snacks to last a few days (grin).
Candyland also has a wide selection of handmade chocolates and other candies. Although we’ve visited the store dozens of times, we’ve only tried a few of them (chocolate covered pretzels, almond bark, turtles, etc.). We weren’t disappointed — or dazzled — by their chocolates… but the caramel popcorn, cheese popcorn and Chicago mix keep us coming back.

I just love going to Macy’s, buying something super discounted (getting the parking validation) and going to Candyland. It’s not the best candy store of all time; however, the buttered popcorn and milk chocolate peanut butter cups are to die for. I used to do this weekly bc the two items are so good. Often, I’ll get other items but the popcorn and PBCs are the two staples.

Delicious!!! The best cheddar popcorn I have ever had! Also really liked the flavo crunch! I think we’ll go back again tonite for the candy!

When I think of home, I can’t help but get wistfully nostalgic for Candyland. Going downtown to shop (and later work) at Dayton’s, eating at Forum’s, catching a movie at the Skyway and to top it off: Stopping at Candyland for some caramel corn and some almond bark.
I was last back in 2008, and I couldn’t believe that nothing much had changed In this tiny, narrow store that held such amazing rich goodies with an amalgam of aromas that could make you swoon.
This is one memory of my beloved home town that still exists, and it makes me happy to see that it is as beloved today as it was 30 years ago. (How I wish Dayton’s was still around!)
Lucky Minneapolitans! You can still get that caramel corn when it’s still warm.

Just plainly my favorite store for the past 30 or 40 years. Love the Chicago mix and flavo crunch and dark chocolate covered almonds. Mmmmm Popcorn.

The caramel corn here is to die for. I found the price to be fair for the 16 oz bag I ordered. Service was quick and friendly, and the location is convenient to my company’s downtown Minneapolis office and our preferred hotel. Next time one of my colleagues heads up north, I’ll be putting up my request for a nice big bag of caramel corn to bring back to Denver!

Every time I am in MSP I always stay on the same street as this Candyland location… and every time I walk by it I never go in. Until one semi-​drunk evening I was walking back to my hotel and saw that they were still open. The Chicago Mix is absolutely to die for. Love the sweet and savory combination that this popcorn provides. I think I almost ate the entire bag in one sitting… but thankfully I did not because I had some fabulousness to take home with me. Reasonably priced as well — it smells heavenly and the candy selection automatically gave me a cavity just looking at it. I’ll bring a big bag home my next trip!

Who doesn’t like an old fashioned candy store? I’ve seen a gal in this place early in the mornings making something delightfully chocolate. Also, if you work nearby and need a snack for a meeting, you can get a bag of their mixed popcorn for a decent price.
If you are looking for a place to get a treat, this is a good start. By the way, if you are using a credit card, I saw a sign that said you have to buy at least $ 2 worth of goods or get charged a service fee.

It’s not too expensive if you just get a little but just getting a little is tough to do.
Let me tell you something… you wouldn’t think that kosher salt on chocolate would be very good. It is. It’s awesome in fact and I will go back here just to get some more of the salted chocolate squares.
Also, the toffee popcorn is incredible.

I love this place. Every time we go downtown we try to stop here to pick up goodies. The cheese corn is outstanding, the best I have ever had. The cheese corn is great on its own or as part of the Chicago Mix. Also for some reason their Sour Cherry Balls at Candyland are better than I have found elsewhere. My wife loves their toffee popcorn, but they don’t always have it.
I recently attended a conference at the Radisson next door that set us loose on our own for a break around lunchtime. I had lots of options for lunch, but I could not resist stopping in Candyland for a lunch of cheese corn, sour cherry balls, and an Icee. Even though I spilled some of the Icee on my shirt and ended up with a faint red stain the rest of the day at the conference, I could not have been happier with my lunch choice.

The smells that draw you into this place will have you drooling! Caramel corn, fudge and sweets are the best you’ll find!
Popcorn is popped in a huge copper kettle and real butter and sugar are used to make the caramel.
Staff is friendly and fast!

The smell of caramel popcorn draws you inside… Once you are inside, you regress back to your childhood. The caramel popcorn is soooooooooo tasty and damn good!
The fudge is soooo heavenly… There truffles are delicious! So worth every calorie!!! The staff is very very friendly!!!
They have the best candy apples! The apples are so fresh and juicy and the caramel was very soft and chewy… and they used pecans instead of peanuts!!! Like I said, if your in Twin City, check this place out!

I love this place! I know you can get most the candy cheaper in little bags at Walgreens but its so much more fun picking several different kinds of candy, and having each kind in in its own little bag… NOT to mention its always really fresh and soft!
The chocolates, caramel apples, and popcorn mixes of course can not be replicated anywhere! These are the real deal and totally homemade!
I love the Chicago mix and the Cheese corn. Whats great about the caramel apples is that the caramel does not stick to your teeth like most do. The chocolate covered potato chips are yummy too!
Pack yourself and/​or your kiddos up one of these nice Fall nights and take a drive to Candyland. Your kids will love it and the kid in you will love it too!
Oh.How I wish I could have some soft, chewy red coins or baby gummy cubs right now!!!

Candyland is the best candy store in Minneapolis.
They have every kind of chocolate dipped treat you could want. Dark, milk or white. The dark chocolate pecan turtles are my go-​to, but other delicious treats include chocolate covered potato chips, caramels, even marshmallos! They’ve got old fashioned candies and all kinds of popcorn (i love to mix cheddar and caramel) and best of all: Icees!
I probably swing into candyland about 4 times a week, no joke. The buttery smell just sucks me right in! The service is always friendly and speedy even when they’re busy, which is often cuz seriously, who can resist this place?
I also recently found out that they have merchandise for sale, as one of my schoolmates was rocking a black Candyland beanie the other day. Pretty sweet!
