History

Established in 1932.

Candyland was founded in 1932 by an unknown husband and wife in St. Paul under the name «Flavo Korn Shop», which was simply a popcorn shop. In 1938, Arnie Kelsey purchased the business from this unknown couple. In 1950, Arnie expanded adding bulk candies and chocolates. With this addition he change the name from «Flavo Korn Shop» to Candyland! Arnie successfully owned and operated Candyland for 43 years! in 1981, it was time for Arnie to retire, so he decided to sell the business and what better candidate than the hard working, well deserved employee, Doug Lamb and his wife Brenda. Doug and Brenda have evolved Candyland into something Arnie only had ever dreamed! Soon after buying the store, they added two more location in Minneapolis. They also created a product that is now known as a Twin Cities and even a nation wide staple, Chicago Mix®, (Combination of Cheese, Caramel, and Regular Popcorn).

Doug and Brenda still own and operate Candyland with their Family!
