I’ve tried this place twice this week because of convenience, but the results are the same. Great service, nice environment, terrible food. Get a new cook!

It’s a nice open space so it’s good place to bring kids however, our server was not good at her job. The food was pretty bad and made the whole family sick… Unfortunately my grandparents live it so I’m sure we’ll go back lol. Our server was just rude. You know when you’re thanking your server and she’s not doing a good job? Annoying. We still tipped her 20% but that’s just because we’re a family of servers.

I was very happy with the overall service that was provided by the staff there. I have stayed at The Depot Renaissance a few times and I usually order food from them instead of going out. I wasn’t blown away by anything that I have had so far. The pizza was average and so were the burgers. They did talk me into trying the sweet potato fries and I will definitely be getting those again. I always take my daughter to the hotel because of the waterpark so I have ordered her a kid’s meal and she wasn’t a huge fan. She did, however, really like the Oreo cookie treat that they give with her meal. We have also had tickets for the breakfast buffet as well. It was an average buffet with most things you would see at a continental breakfast along with your typical eggs, bacon, hash browns, etc. They also have a chef that will make an omelet to order.

I just finished my meal at Charlie’s Grill. The pluses — nice décor inside the Renaissance Depot hotel and that follows through into the Grill. The restaurant is clean which means a lot. It is noisy at dinner time from the bar across the hall. I had the Charley burger which was a little dry but was cooked to order(medium to medium well). The homemade chips were average at best. The prices were about what you would expect in a hotel restaurant. The menu had a decent variety. My server got the cheesecake of the day wrong. He told me blackberry and mine was covered in raspberry. It wasn’t good. The service was average to below average. Since average is 3 stars, that’s what they received. Food — Adequate Price — average Décor — a slight bump above average. Service — below average.

I stopped in here for lunch today and was underwhelmed by my experience. The Great: + The hostess lady. Friendly and funny. The Average: o I got the Charley’s Salad(roast chicken and roasted veggies w/greens). It was OK, but they skimped on the goat cheese and the chicken was surprisingly salty and overcooked. It was almost mushy-soft, but tasted alright. I wonder if it had been brined? o They were on top of my ice tea refills. The Poor: — It took forever to order. Our wait staff simply disappeared. — Expensive for the quality. Prices were inflated. I won’t be back.

Grabbed a to-go meal to bring up to my room & was less than impressed w/the service as well as the meal Standing at the hostess area, I see a newspaper & started browsing while I was waiting for someone to acknowledge me — well, that didn’t take long at all when I’m approached by my waitress who says: «yeahhhhh, I’m going to have to ask you to hand that back». Wait…what? I’m standing at the desk & hadn’t even unfolded the thing — what the heck did you think I was trying to do? Negative tone immediately set So I ordered the Mushroom Flatbread & The Sticky Almond Cake & stood there, seething while someone else brought my meal out to me.(Apparently my dagger-stare hasn’t lost its effectiveness) Flatbread was flimsy & did not have much flavor. Guess I was expecting something more similar to a foccacia & not a soggy cracker The cake was WAY too sweet & this is coming from someone known for her copious sugar consumption. Threw half of it out Needless to say, I chose different grab n go meals for the rest of the time I was there

This is a restaurant inside the Marriott Renaissance hotel. The surrounding décor and atmosphere is cool. They have a train theme. There is an impressive sitting area in front of a large fireplace and the chairs are classic worn leather reminiscent of a British pub. I ate here twice while in Minneapolis. First was lunch. Service was excellent without being annoying. I had a chai tea latte and the chicken dip. The bread on the dip was great. Chicken pieces were big and the dip that they used(salty chicken broth) was a little lackluster. In my opinion, adding a Dijon or some other kind of sauce, slicing the chicken thinner and using the au jus from the French dip would all make this sandwich better. Ok, but way too salty. The second time I ordered breakfast as room service from The connected Residence Inn hotel, also a Marriott. The Minnesota Northwoods omelet appealed to me because it had local wild rice in it. It was excellent and the hollaindaise sauce was also really good. With both meals I subbed fruit for potatoes, and that is actually why I left a review. I was very pleased that the fruit both times seemed to be freshly cut and delicious. Refreshing to not have the standard soggy, non edible fruit cups which usually occur in restaurant hotels. If they fix their chicken dip sandwich I would give them 5 stars! :)

We dined at Charley’s two nights in a row. Wow — what a nice atmosphere and service, what incredible food. We were very surprised and pleased! Charley’s House Salad was incredible, mixed greens with crumbled cheese, grilled vegetables and a Raspberry dressing — heavenly. The Tortellacchi Pasta, what a treat. The Walleye Reuben, a dream. So we came back a second night. The Goat Cheese appetizer, stunning. The Spicy Sausage Pizza, perfect. Dessert we enjoyed the Sticky Almond Coffee Cake with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream, again wonderful. Compared to other restaurants, the food was superior, the service excellent. Highly recommended.

Not bad food, just not good enough for the crazy price tag. I’d get a coffee & muffin next door at Caribou Coffee.(or walk 4 blocks towards Moose & Sadies)

Had breakfast here two mornings in a row. Day 1: Light breakfast — Raisin Bran with skim milk, cup of coffee, and strawberries. Day 2: Breakfast Buffet — scrambled eggs, hash brown potatoes, bacon, sausage, English muffin with Peanut butter, strawberries, and coffee. The Breakfast buffet was kind of expensive for what it was — $ 15.00. The eggs were a little overcooked. Bacon was good, Sausage was average. Coffee — very average. Service was decent.
