Copenhagen Enterprises owns and maintains 14 brownstone apartment buildings in four different Minneapolis neighborhoods. The company was started by the Hansen family in the mid 1970’s and they continue to operate the business today. Beginning with a duplex, the company has grown to 350 rental units. Through the years and the growth our goal remains: provide residents with a clean and comfortable place to call home for as many years as they’d care to stay. The accessibility of company employees, from the maintenance team to the rental office to the owners is what sets us apart from the rest. On any given day, at any given time our residents are able to communicate with a representative of Copenhagen Enterprises. Best advice — Don’t rent from this company. To make a long story short — the apartments were unsafe and dirty. The management will come in and out of your apartment without notice and not notify you when they have entered.
They treat you as a tenant when you move in and do everything in their power to rip you off when you leave. They took me to court two years after I moved out for false charges which I went to court and WON. Prior to my case in court was FIVE other cases to which no one showed.
They get their profit from their tenants AFTER they move out by keeping deposits.
They have cases filed against them with the Better Business Bureau and the Minnesota Housing authority.
It’s a cheap place to live but they will make it an expensive long term investment.
*************UPDATE: Do yourself a favor and go to the Better Business Bureau website and search for this company. They are regularly reported.

I’ve lived in one of their buildings in Loring Park for close to two years. After ending a relationship, having no prior rental history but having owned a home, it was difficult for me to find a place. And find a place that accepted large dogs. I found two in the area with availability and ultimately rented with Copenhagen. For my first ever rental, I couldn’t have been more lucky. Everyone in the office is nice, maintenance fixes things promptly, and the building (despite living in a noisy area) is very quiet. I’ve made great friends in the building and will be sad when the time comes to move.

I have rented a little over a year from them at the Nicollet location and am happily satisfied. Maintenance is very responsive and usually comes the same day or next day after submitting a request. Anytime I’ve had a question or concern and contacted my apartment manager, she is always knowledgeable.
We recently had a bike theft in the building and some apparent package snatchers. They messaged everyone and let them know that they could drop off packages at the main complex.
Like most rental companies who allow dogs, they charge a non refundable fee as well as a monthly charge. It’s a bit annoying but what can you do.

I would recommend this company to anyone searching for a new apartment. They were extremely friendly, professional, attentive to my needs and the neighborhood/​other tenants were quiet. It was a peaceful atmosphere and they keep the place clean.
I ended up leaving early but they found a tenant to move in for me so I wouldn’t be fined and they were professional and understanding the entire time. They gave me my damage deposit back in a timely manner and there was no conflict in receiving it.
The apartments are close to downtown which was great but if I could change one thing about this place to make it perfect is parking. There’s only street parking which usually wasn’t a problem except I work late nights and didn’t feel safe walking 4+ blocks at ¾am (I am a little skittish so it made me anxious).
Other than that the place was great, the location is great, and the company has great communication and standards. Would definitely rent from them again.

I’ve rented from multiple locations in Minneapolis & I have to say Copenhagen is hands down the best property management company I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Top notch office staff are always friendly and accommodating to my busy work schedule, maintenance staff is above and beyond– same day service what!!! I can pay my rent online, I am close to downtown, and everyone is super impressed with how much space I have. Clean, affordable, and awesome.

I lived in the Elliot Park location for one year. I would have stayed longer, but had to move because of work. The apartment was great! A previous review said that the buildings were dirty and unsafe, and I never felt that way. My building was very quiet and clean.
A previous reviewer also wasn’t pleased with maintenance, which I was surprised to read. Management and maintenance were both very helpful, and were able to return my calls asap.
Overall, I enjoyed my time with Copenhagen and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet and friendly community. I will miss my apartment very very much!

–Received my FULL deposit a few days EARLIER than I was told. It has been a few weeks since I’ve moved out and I already miss my apartment, the beautiful brownstone, and the great neighborhood a lot!

For what they offer, they’re hard to beat. If you want cheaper apartments, you can find a few, but the service you get will be way below the level Copenhagen offers. If you want to pay more, of course, you can get all kinds of exciting stuff.
I’ve rented from Copenhagen for four years. As landlords, they are neither too attentive (always bugging you) nor too inattentive (when you need them, they show up).
Bottom line: If you are looking for an apartment in the areas they offer them and at the prices they offer, you’re unlikely to do better.

Highly satisfied. I lived in a Copenhagen building for a year after coming from what I refer to as a «slumlord.» While it was a transitional apartment for me, I would still recommend Copenhagen as a longterm rental situation. The staff was amazing. Never had any maintenance complaints (very fast and responsive). A few minor cons… The buildings are kind of old– Peeling paint, shoddy windows, touchy radiators, etc… The usual stuff you find in brownstones that get turned over a lot. This is just a reality of renting in Stevens Square/​Loring Park/​Uptown. Copenhagen at least makes an effort to maintain as best they can.
I will be leaving at the end of April. I may revise the review, because how landlords handle return of security deposits is highly important to me (are they shady? realistic? etc). That being said, I don’t expect any issues at all. Overall, GREAT experience!!!

My deposit was returned to me promptly with only a little taken for light cleaning (which was 100% appropriate). Pure professionalism. I’d rent from them again in a heartbeat.
