How can you call yourself«cowboys» and not ply a single country song… Poser ass bar that just goes to please downtown Minneapolis on weekend nights. very disappointed

If Cowboy Jack’s taught me anything, it’s that I’m too old for Cowboy Jack’s. It’s another one of those bars that’s trying to make hick hip. Which is fine, I love the Minnesota redneck identity! But they’re certainly not being very authentic about it(we all know how much country-folk love blasting hip-hop and hanging out with a bunch of adults wearing dinosaur onesies and you know, being downtown). I went to a happy hour here once, and my company was able to reserve the entire upper level, so that was pretty cool. Our bartender was super nice! She checked on us every ten minutes to ask if we wanted anything additional. That was also cool. Otherwise, it didn’t make much of an impression. Realistically, I was feeling so apathetic about it that I wasn’t going to review. Then every time Unilocal suggested I do so, I had to sit and think, «wait, what’s Cowboy Jack’s and when did I go there?!»

$ 2 burger special on Wednesdays… never again. The burgers were dried out and burnt. How you screw up a burger is beyond me but maybe just maybe if you drink enough beer from their extensive list of crappy mass produced American beereries and top off the evening by getting your drunken arse up on the mechanical bull before heading back to the frat/sorority house you too can make a memorable night.

My friends and I often come here for Sunday Happy hour. You can’t beat $ 2 rails and domestic beers. Great environment and awesome bartenders. Also there’s a DJ upstairs playing EDM every Sunday until 7.

We go here on a regular basis, great special with $ 2 burgers on Wednesday. Free ice cream included with your lunch. Corn bread order is enough to feed an entire table, the honey butter is great.

Stubbled in here for lunch with few friends and had excellent service. Our waitress was super attentive and sweet. The interior has a mechanical bull and looks like it could get rowdy on the weekends or game days. I’d come again but wouldn’t make this a destination.

Best happy hour in the city. Friendly bartenders. Never a dull moment here!

Great game day specials, but the continuous thumping of the DJ is really annoying. Guess that’s the price you pay for a good deal.

We ate here, on the rooftop(awesome!) prior to a concert across the street. While I enjoyed the décor(western) and the rooftop(check out the swing seats in the corner), I wasn’t thrilled by the service. The place was hopping, but it took forever to actually get a server to come bring us menus, and then take our orders. Hire more servers, please. The food is pretty traditional bar/grill fare — nothing that’s going to knock you out. My sandwich was good, not great. A colleague said the same thing about the pizza. I was the designated driver, so I can’t comment on the drinks. If you’re a rooftop fan, you’ll want to check it out, otherwise I’d recommend trying somewhere else.

Cowboy Jacks has a chill vibe, drinks are plentiful, food is pretty decent, and in the warm months they have an upstairs bar and seating area that’s great to go to with friends for drinks and happy hour! Also indoors there is a mechanical bull for those type of enthusiasts as well!

Great nightspot with a variety to most genres. The rooftop is a great breath of fresh air until the smokers eliminate the serene date night ambience. The food is bar food like and the designated dance floor is missing. However the entertainment is made up by the sight of the drunken masters of mechanical bull riding. This will keep you drinking and gaining courage to master the bull. Sidenote… women tend to do better at the bull riding… lol

You come for the music, the drinks, the mechanical bull and the rooftop. This is the perfect place to hang out for happy hour, a saturday night, or before a Twins game. The drinks are reasonably priced for what they are, and the happy hour menu is great! The food is just OK, but hey, what can you expect from bar food? We did shove some scorpion wings into our mouths– be careful, the after bite is fierce!

I’ve been here a couple of times, both times due to plans to meet up and then go see the Twins. The last time I went — very mixed experience(on a Sunday at noon). They have the basics of a fun joint, and I like the country theme, but they were out of olives(which sucked because I ordered the bloody mary bar), out of one of my buddies beer choices(I believe he wanted Surly and they were out), and they were out of one of my buddies food choices. The bartenders downstairs were pretty cranky as well. Maybe they were pissed because they wanted to be on the rooftop. The roof top is the highlight and if you want to throw down a couple of brews, sit at a table with swings for chairs, and listen to some acoustic guitar(the day we were there) it can be fine. But don’t expect a lot more unless this was just an off day.

Meh… Nice rooftop though before it gets late. Pregame spot or girls night out. Meet up spot to bounce somewhere else

I’m not a fan of country but this is the place to be before a Twins game. They didn’t have a happy hour on Saturday when I was there. So that was a bummer. The bathroom was very dirty, the floors were all wet, and the toilets did not look like they were cleaned at all. Not many people use the second level of the bar. Mainly the first floor by the mechanical bull, and the rooftop which is beautiful. I also ordered the calamari and it was slightly over cooked. Too crunchy and or not fresh anymore. It was also spicy but I didn’t mind that. I give this appetizer a 5 out of 10.

Went to Cowboy Jack’s to pregame before the Twins/Tigers game… happened upon«the corral» the new bar on the rooftop. We were lucky enough to belly up after being told they just opened. We never made it to the game. .had the 2 best bartenders around«wells-n-deej» they really took care of us! Hoping they can reserve stools for us before Kenny Chesney concert Saturday — they were going to try Thanks for a fun night!

Absolutely one of the worst lunch experiences of my life. Rude waitresses, the chicken looked and tasted like cardboard, and it took us forever to get the check so that we could leave that hell hole. I could elaborate but I don’t want to waste any more of my time on this dump.

Super sloooow service on this day. No one came to our table for the first 15 minutes. We’re typically pretty patient and don’t mind going to the bar to grab our first drink if necessary, but even after 15 minutes and a trip to the bar where the bartender said she would send someone over, We still didn’t see anyone for another 15. The server sold us on the buffet and Bloody Mary bar… The Bloody Mary bar was great! But the buffet was overcooked, hours-old scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit and cookies. Meh! I wish I’d ordered from the menu! After trying the rubbery eggs, I decided to order a slim steak salad from the menu(still paying for the buffet)… The server NEVER put the order in! Ugh! Oh well, got my veggies in the Bloody Mary! I think they needed more staff. Sorry Cowboy Jacks you disappointed us… :-(

We reserved the upstairs pool table area for a birthday party of 15 people. It seemed that we had a server dedicated to our area, but service was very slow. Our beers were warm and the Jack and cokes were see through. My friend gave the waitress a 10 for a $ 3 beer and didn’t get his change back untill he asked for it an hour later. Our very unfriendly server claimed that she had no change, and had to go downstairs to get some… yeahhhh. Flame thrower burger was ok, but nothing special. Their fish tacos were great, I would defiantly get them again(to go). We might have just had the misfortune of having a crabby/crappy/sticky fingered server, but I wouldn’t be in a hurry to come back here… unless the lured me with fish tacos.

I mostly come here at night for drinks but I have also had their food and it’s pretty good. The drinks are inexpensive, some of the best pricing you can find downtown. The service is so-so, it’s often pretty busy so I don’t think it’s all the waitstaff’s fault but it’s definitely an area that could use a little love. Last time I went there were waitresses screaming at each other in the middle of the crowd. A few times before that our waitress was completely scatterbrained, one of our friends gave her a $ 20 for a $ 13 tab and she came back saying he owed her seven more dollars, even after talking to her for an exceptionally long time she could not understand what went wrong. Lots of space inside when its cold and a big rooftop when the weather is nice. Not sure if they monitor the capacity for the roof which is a bit concerning. I was here on a Friday night and it was packed, you could feel the floor moving every time people walked by. It’s a great place to grab drinks before or after a twins game and is also a good option for Friday/Saturday nights. You do have to be prepared to deal with lots of bachelorette parties and annoying girls squealing but the drinks are cheap and they have swings on the roof, it has it’s flaws but is still a pretty good option.
