I knew what I didn’t want and more so, where I didn’t I want. That was the easy part. Unfortunately that still left me with an uneasy margin of error for a guy that wanted to surprise his girl.
Enter Filigree.
I wanted classic. Antique. Vintage. Unique. And service that made me feel comfortable. And I feel very lucky to have found it so easily right here in Mpls. A couple minutes on Google and I found Filigree. I looked through the rings on their site, felt overwhelmed and decided to stop by for a better look. I met Catherine (co-​owner) on no notice and she was extremely accommodating and pressure free. She gave me tips, advice and helped educate me. I left empty handed but feeling better.
I looked through the site again, this time picking out several rings. Catherine was out of town so I met with Jesse (mgr) and he had the rings pulled aside for me. I looked again, I asked questions, I took pictures… and I looked some more. I had it narrowed down to two. I left empty handed but feeling better.
I came back again, this time leaving with a ring in hand. Catherine was very flexible with timing based on purchase and when I had planned to ask the question. They offer exchanges and credit which made me feel better in case there was a better choice — or of course if the unthinkable happens. One must be prepared.
And then I came back again. With her. An *extremely* happy her. The ring was resized in just under a week and looks spectacular.
I really cannot recommend Filigree enough to anyone in the market for a vintage ring or watch. Though far from an expert, I feel I received a great value on the ring I chose — something heavily reinforced by the compliments received afterwards. I never once felt an ounce of pressure or judgement. It was like dealing with a friend from day one.

Brent and Catherine were absolutely top notch at helping with our engagement ring. Their selection is outstanding and I was able to find the perfect antique ring. The shop is located in an old warehouse building in the North Loop of Minneapolis and is such an ode to the type of business they are in. I could never imagine buying an engagement ring in a mall or have a salesperson try to push me one way or another. Brent is laid back and comfortable in the best way (yet professional and attentive) in which it felt like I was just an old friend. Could not rave more about my experience with Filigree!!!

Filigree Jewelers provided an excellent experience achieving the perfect engagement ring for my now fiancé, Michelle. Brent and I, over the course of two visits, were able to discuss and design an amazing ring that spoke to the heart (and style) of my life with Michelle. I wanted a new setting for a diamond from my great grandmother. Since it was an old diamond, I wanted a vintage setting. After doing a search for «filigree» style rings, I found Filigree Jewelers.
The building is awesome! An old warehouse overlooking downtown Minneapolis. The space that housed Filigree was big and spacious with exposed brick and beautiful windows. The layout of the store was very flowy.
Catherine, who owns the space with her husband, took the time to really examine my diamond and give me good advice on everything from the cut to the age to what type of setting would be ideal. She also listenes carefully to what I wanted.
The selection was great. Not too overwhelming like some other jewelry stores. Filigree also had settings that didn’t look too much like an engagement ring, which I wanted to steer clear of.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. Not only did they have a great selection and are very knowledgeable, they seem very trustworthy as well.

I would recommendall of my friends to Filigree. Brent, Catherine and Jesse were extremely helpful in helping my fiancé and I explore different styles of rings. Their hospitality and welcoming character far surpassed that of other jewelers that we visited. When I decided to talk to Brent about making a ring he sat down with me, listened to my ideas and worked with me on a budget. You can bet I’ll be back for the wedding bands and more!

We originally found a spectacular ring on Filigree Jewelers’ website, and when visiting home (MN) from Scotland we set an appointment to pick it up.
Upon arriving we found an amazing selection of other rings including the one we eventual chose. The reserved ring is unique and beautiful, but we found an alternative that was perfect!
Bahar and I are really happy, and she loves showing the extraordinary ring to her friends and our colleagues.
Catherine was great, and we had a… fun… journey getting my foreign bank to accept this wasn’t a fraudulent charge.
To help cap a fantastic weekend, Catherine remembered the hotel we were staying at and had a bottle of champagne sent over. This is the type of personal and special attention that makes the memory and stories bring a smile!

I wanted a unique, special experience when finding my engagement ring, and that is exactly what I got with Filigree Jewelers! When making my first appointment via email, my inquiry was answered in less than 15 minutes and and an appointment that fit our schedule was set up with ease. When we arrived, it was my fiancé and I and the owners of the store — and that was it! You can peruse the inventory and try things on to see what you like. Catherine (one of the owners) sat us down and took the time to educate us on the diamonds and the bands. Many of the rings are antiques, my band is almost 100 years old! The rings are all beautiful one of a kind pieces that you can’t find anywhere else. When my fiancé went through the purchase process, it was smooth and easy for him.
This is a great family owned business with impeccable customer service and breathtaking jewelry. You will not be disappointed no matter what you are looking for!

My wife and I had a unique and enjoyable experience with Filigree. To start, we poked our heads in to see a massive remodeling project underway (picture construction lights, ladders, power cords, dust and drywall panels). Nonetheless, Brent graciously invited us into the mess. He cleared a space at his desk and took a look at my wife’s engagement ring for resizing and cleaning. Even considering the mess, the space itself is pretty awesome and feels NOTHING like a sterile shopping mall jewelry store.
I had put this off for months because other quotes I received were expensive and the turnaround time sucked. Filigree was affordable and very timely with my wife’s ring being gone for only three days. We will definitely be coming back for regular cleanings and possibly another ring in the future.

Short Story: Great selection, reasonable prices, friendly and knowledgeable staff, and wonderful support and service.
Long Story: I spent months doing research and shopping online before finally going to Filigree in person. Since we had a pretty small budget and had only started looking at rings, we definitely weren’t going to make any decisions that day. Brent was incredibly patient while I tried on pretty much every ring in the place. More importantly his relaxed and friendly manner put my nervous fiancé at ease. Brent clearly loves the artistry and history in each piece and is more concerned about helping you find something you love than making a sale.
We ended up finding a ring that both my fiancé and I absolutely love (and could afford). There was no pressure to buy so we felt comfortable enough to ask him to hold the ring for a week while we mulled it over. Once we decided to go ahead with it my fiancé and Brent were able to work out a payment plan and he had the ring sized and ready for pick up with the final payment.
The ring is gorgeous! Everyone has been impressed with the uniqueness, delicate filigree, and amazing history of the ring. Unfortunately, after about a month of wear I noticed that the band had cracked right in the middle. I was absolutely heartbroken and worried that it wouldn’t be an easy (or cheap) repair.
When I dropped the ring off to be fixed Catherine explained that the break was probably due to an old poorly done resizing (a risk you take with vintage rings) but that they absolutely could and would fix it. She was super friendly and put me at ease.
They ended up not only replacing the entire bottom of the ring with new platinum (to ensure there were no more weak spots hiding in there) but also resized it and extended the delicate engraving and milgrain details around the entire ring (it had either worn off or not extended all the way around before). They also redefined the engraving and milgrain on the surface of the ring so it looks even better than before and blends perfectly with the new shank.
They asked for nothing for the repair/​upgrade and seemed genuinely happy to have fixed it and made me happy. I couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out and I will absolutely be going back to them for wedding bands. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!

Here’s the story:
We are currently living in London as MN transplants and we thought it would be so romantic to get our engagement ring in London, then we started trying to find something/​someone to help us… we found pushy salespeople, meh workmanship, and strained eyes from trying to see the differences between the exact same rings everywhere. Yikes! It was not nearly as fun as we had imagined shopping for a ring would be.
Feeling defeated on our way back for a 3 week visit to Minneapolis, we decided to see what MN had to offer. After doing some research and talking to friends we found Filigree Jewelers. Every conversation with Catherine left me with a smile on my face. Their space on Washington is beautiful and interesting. Catherine let me look at and try on different rings over and over again. She laughed at my fiances jokes, gave me encouraging head shakes as I talked in circles working through which setting to go with, and she never pushed us on any decision. This was fun!
On top of all of that wonderful, they were able to get us our ring the day before we left Minnesota, and when all was said and done it ended up costing a little bit under the quote she had originally provided. I just can’t say enough great things about Filigree. Between phone conversations, a few visits to the show room, and even some text messages this place does it right. Catherine’s expertise and long history in the business makes MN so lucky to have her and Filigree Jewelers.

i took my grandma’s engagement ring in from the 30s into filigree when the ring became my engagement ring. They were able to find a ring from the same time period that looks just like it was made to be in a set with my grandma’s ring.
they have also resized a few rings for me and switched some old clip-​on earrings into studded earrings.
all of my transactions were done quickly and affordably…
and you couldn’t ask for a nicer staff.
i will go to filigree for all of my jewelry needs, and i would recommend others to do the same.

They have a great selection of antique rings. I’ve had occasion to look for gifts and help other friends find engagement bands. I bought a lovely deco ring for my partner on their website. (And another plus lgbt friendly!) Very helpful and professional. Answered all my questions and were super accommodating to ship to me. Will do business with them again happily.

Disappointing experience purchasing our engagement ring. First ring we were told was an old european cut but was actually just a badly cut modern round brilliant that couldn’t have been original to the ring as promised so we returned. Second ring diamond came loose on a day, was fixed and was totally uneven in prongs. Once that was taken care of we had it appraised and it was off on color and clarity. Really nice people but ultimately not the most trustworthy. We ended up getting a refund and were sad to do so. I learned an incredible amount in the process about vintage and antique diamonds and ended up with a gorgeous ring from someone else.

My fiancé and I chose to getting our wedding jewels from Filigree and we have been very happy with the service and ongoing care that Catherine and Brent provide. What I liked best about working with them: they are authentic and honest, the jewelry is fairly priced and unique. The atmosphere is really comfortable, calm and not pressured in any way. I appreciated that they could work with our relatively modest budget and I walked away with a ring that NOBODY else has! My 10 year old daughter thinks Catherine is really cool, she let her try on fancy rings at her leisure. How awesome is that?

Called this business just to get some advice on an antique ring that I already own, and Catherine was very helpful and honest with her feedback. She didn’t bat an eye that I hadn’t purchased from her, and was clear and straight-​forward about recommending a good bench jeweler to get work done, how much it would cost, and what exactly I should be concerned about when getting the ring fixed. Recommended!
