Great food but slow lunch service with mix ups on our tabs. I had the Kung Pao with chicken and it was perfectly done.

The only thing I can probably give them 4 stars for is their ambience. If you want to dine in a place with good ambience, okayy-shhh food and terrible service then this is the place to go: D. They take 20 minutes to come and place the water glasses !!! Ordered the Lo Mein with tofu. I am pretty sure I have had much better Lo Mein for lesser price. My husband ordered the Honey walnut, that was pretty good though. The reason I am giving a 2 star is after the waiter gave us the check, he was pretty much in a hurry to push us off the table, and it didn’t make sense because the restaurant was not even half full !!! This place can be missed. Downtown has better options.

Had lunch with my fiancée and a friend. I had the Chicken sliders and fries. The chicken sliders were good but they were nothing special. The fries on the other hand had a garlic seasoning I have never had. The fries were the standout in this meal. The service was ok. We had to wait for the server to refill our drink at least 10 minutes more than once. Also he seemed pushy when asking if we were ready to order. He seemed more concerned with getting us out of his table than making sure we were taken care of.

Nope. Came here with two friends and sat on the rooftop. Simply no. Sangria pitcher was quite diluted and had a «rotten fruit» smell. I think it’s great that they have a rooftop on Nicollet Mall. Quite unique and a special feature. Food is cold and very clearly not fresh. This makes me sad. The executive chef should really reach in his/her soul and pull out some more passion. This is art, be an artist and show your team how passionate you are. I know it’s in you. Some positive now — rooftop is very beautiful.

Yes this is a chain, but they do a good job. I’ve been here a couple of times already, one for food and the 2nd time for just drinks. We came earlier in the summer for a co-worker’s birthday and got to sit outside in the patio area. I got the ahi tuna tacos with their signature fried rice and I would come back for the rice!!! Loved it, very flavorful and my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The 2nd time we stopped by to watch some of the Vikings game and have a couple of drinks prior to walking down to our friend’s place. Ended up sitting in the bar inside(pretty empty) but by this time the rooftop was open so everyone who came in was going upstairs. It was hard to see if they were open(luckily they have hours posted on the window) because the door was closed and it is a pretty heavy door(the last time I was there it was open). Not a big deal, we figured it out! Got to know the bartender, great to talk to him about some fun cocktails. I think he really like the fact that we liked old fashioneds, great cocktails and variety of options. If you end up sitting at the bar, get to know the bartender and have him create a fun cocktail for you, he probably will as long he has all the ingredients :)

Last couple time here for lunch its been OK. Ahi tacos were. wet… for lack of better word. Needed to kick them up a bit and season. So really underwhelmed. Bummer. The Sushi rolls we had and table shared were really tasty! I also had a bow of the green curry soup. or Tom Kha Gai… For a green curry this is way to mild. Zero heat. It had a good flavor but the fillings were so diced up they were unreconizable save the the mushroom as thats all tha twas in it. Again. everything was a fine dice insde the soup. Not enjoyable. All mushroom. Bummer. had good potential. Service was good and helpful.

I had lunch at L&L’s with my sister in honor of our birthday’s today. We’ve been here before(several times) and we both love it. We both have different dietary needs/restrictions and you seriously can’t go wrong with Asian! They have a huge menu — they even have some American staples if you’re not into the good stuff. Located smack dab on the Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis, this place is super convenient. It’s also huge — so it is perfect for large groups. They also have seasonal seating on the sidewalk and on the rooftop! Today it was very busy and I was really glad I made a reservation! You know, I rarely remember to whip out my phone and take pictures of my food before it is halfway devoured — and today was no exception(sorry, maybe next time). I ordered General Ling’s stirfry with tofu and it was so good. It has a slightly sweet and grilled flavor that is so delicious. Carrots, peppers, green onions and basil… delightful. Kim had Kung Pao with tofu — broccoli, onion, peppers, chilies and peanuts. Both of us left behind about a teaspoon of rice… and that is only because the fork wouldn’t pick it up — and we have enough class not to lick our plates. They have a beautiful bar — and from what I hear they have a good happy hour. I’ve not been there for drinks yet — but I will! Parking…well, you know, it’s downtown. You have to pay for a parking spot because it’s the city. But there is parking everywhere and it’s a very easy city to navigate. If you work downtown like I do, just walk your butt over there and try it. It’s like, not 100% authentic or anything — but it’s ton’s better than Lee Ann Chin and costs very little more. The ambiance is fun and it won’t break the bank.

I have been eyeing Ling and Louie’s Rooftop every time I venture downtown Minneapolis. There was just something about it that called my name. The personal desire that I had to go to Ling and Louie’s Rooftop definitely lived up my expectations. For lunch a colleague and I decided to go to the Rooftop. The restaurant was super inviting and colorful. The rooftop was a good size and the tables adorned with umbrellas that had views that overlooked Nicollet Mall was just right. The waiter informed us that the dining downstairs and the rooftop had different menus. That was fine with us because we wanted lighter food options. To start we had the Jalapeño cheese wontons. I had the Kobe Beef sliders and we shared a side of french fries with parmesan cheese. The meal was very good and the weather plus the view were great. My limeade was refreshing and the breeze added an extra touch to the solid experience! I am definitely going to go here a lot more often!

Dinner with co-workers, we ordered a bunch for happy hour. Someone had a hankering for buffalo wings, we ordered a «hot buffalo» Asian wings and kung pao Asian wings. It turns out the hot buffalo, were my favorite and had a nice tangy flavor with medium heat. The other guy loved the milder Kung Pao wings, and he ordered a whole plate for himself for the second round. the Black Orchid Ahi, was delicious with the soy mustard. The ahi perfectly seared and very tender. Melts in your mouth. The Calamari was the first to be finished, for some reason no one used the chili sauce. We ordered a second round, as I mentioned, one guy ordered another Kung Pao wings for himself, and the second one to be shared. We ordered three from the sushi menu: crab crunch roll, rainbow roll and Las Vegas roll. Finally a order of the Firecracker Chicken tacos. For some reason the first bite of the Firecracker chicken was hotter than the hot buffalo wings. The blue cheese was quite a contrast, We found the roof top patio nice for the summer, not as windy at the street level, but the conditions may vary. Great asian fusion place. If you like a larger selection for happy hour, get a seat in the dining room.

We ordered takeout from this place and ordered the shrimp summer rolls and the nachos. So the nachos were disgusting. They tasted like a burnt wonton just smothered in grease and some mildly smoky bbq sauce. Ours only had cheese, bbq, and some dried chicken cubes… and the avocado sauce and horseradish-y sauce on the side. Icky icky. We also had the shrimp summer rolls but they should have been called summer rolls since they only included one tiny shrimp per roll. The roll ingredients tasted fresh but if I wanted to eat carrots, sprouts, and greens in peanut sauce, I’d make a salad… I wouldn’t recommend either appetizer to anyone nor do I really want to try this place again. Maybe it was just an off night for the chefs but I wish I wouldn’t have ordered from there. Nachos are a rip at $ 10.25 for grease and dried cube chicken. The shrimp summer rolls were $ 8.75. A cold pizza chain pizza would have been more satisfying.

I went for lunch with a group, surprisingly fast service which is a plus during the quick lunch rush: — Waiter was nice in making honest recommendations. — Everyone raves about the sushi and tacos, get those, most other items seem fried and your typical over cooked thoughtlessly put together americanized asian dish. — Go for the rooftop.

It’s Sunday before a Twins game. Let’s hit up brunch on a rooftop. Ling and Louie’s does have that to offer… and it’s quite nice. There’s plenty of seating… a great view… unless you don’t have the umbrella up and you’re sitting at the railing, then you won’t be able to see your friends who are sitting on the other side of the table. Small problem. We all got some beers, which are reasonably priced especially compared to what we were about to pay at Target Field. As for food… it’s coming up. Food: Crispy Calamari(lightly breaded calamari drizzled with aioli and chili sauce) — the calamari was good, breading wasn’t heavy… included rings and tentacles, tossed in sweet chili sauce served with a side of aioli Louie’s Loaded Nachos(seasoned wonton chips covered with cheddar-jack cheese, chicken, tomatoes, onions, cilantro, hoisin BBQ sauce, wasabi sour cream, Asian guacamole) — the nachos were good, but the wonton chips were quite clumpy… still delicious Las Vegas Roll(smoked salmon, cream cheese, avocado, dynamite sauce, topped with tempura flakes and eel sauce) — when you’ve just moved here from NY and you’re craving lox… this doesn’t quite go that far, but it doe give you just that bit of taste of smoked salmon… there should be more, but it was delicious TLDR: check out Ling & Louie’s, it’s fusion, but not over done

I have enjoyed Ling & Louie’s now a few times for happy hour. Their prices are comparable to other happy hours in the area, and they have a good food selection. Sometimes they have better drink specials than what’s on the happy hour menu. I had the nachos for the first time the other day, and it was a good plate to share with others. My favorite is definitely the pot stickers. Every time I have been, the service is good and the servers give recommendations for plates they enjoy. It is also on my way home from work, so very convenient for anyone that rides the bus because the stop is right outside of the restaurant.

Went here for the rooftop which was really nice but the service and food are subpar. We couldn’t get our server to us and she messed up our checks. She was really busy so I totally get it but then the food just wasn’t that great. The red snapper sandwich is a huge piece of bread with a sliver of fish. The prices are also pretty expensive. I’ll go to another rooftop this summer.

After a long day at work, it was time for a good happy hour! Across the street from my job, a friend told me about a place that had a pretty good menu and a good vibe. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity so of course we had to try it! Ling and Louie’s is a very nice place! Low lit lighting made for a nice intimate setting and the dark wood paneling gave off that modern look and feel. What I really liked was the bar. Very tall shelving with bottles lined up and illuminated with a powerful back light. Great focal point. Our service was good as well. They were efficient and seemed to come around at the right time. Speaking of, here’s what I had. Keep in mind it’s all through the HH menu from 3pm-6pm, M-F: –Potstickers for $ 5.25. 5 to an order. These potstickers were stuffed with cream cheese and topped with a sweet chili sauce. I’m not a big fan of cream cheese, so this wasn’t my favorite but I can see how people would enjoy it. What’s not to like with sweet chili?! –Calamari for $ 6.25. This was my favorite of the night. Crispy calamari, topped with sweet chili and served with an aioli sauce. The aioli was so good! It really complimented the calamari. The over dish was worth the price and super flavorful! –Asian Nachos for $ 5.75. This was such a big plate! Won ton chips with chicken, tomatoes, cilantro and a crème sauce on the top. Super delicious. Although there was a latin flavor to it, you could also taste an Asian presence as well. Super good! Overall, I really enjoyed myself here. The libations were good, the service was awesome and the food was on point. I think if you’re in the area, you need to stop by and check them out. It’s a place that will not disappoint!

You know how some reviews start out with«I really wanted to like this place…» Well this is: I really wanted to hate this place. Seriously. They brand themselves as Asian Fusion. I. HATE. ASIAN. FUSION. It looks like another incarnation of Crave and screams trendy. But some coworkers wanted to come here, so let’s do it. It’s big inside. But comfortable. Hostess was friendly, server was friendly. In fact, she was great. The menu hold an annoying amount of items and is very Crave-like. I held it together and ordered the Pad Thai. Our server warned me that it’s not like typical Pad Thai and gave me some details. Eh, I’ll give it a shot. The food was quite good. And because I was with several women that never finish their meals, I helped myself to theirs which was also good. Hey, I guess they’re right. Although slow and dangerous behind the wheel, large corporate fusion restaurants can still serve a purpose. I’ll be right back. Don’t you go dying on me!

Meh is the best way to describe this place. It kind of reminds me of a hotel restaurant; it’s fine and acceptable if you don’t have better options but when viewed as part of the big picture it is just so-so. Pros: It’s right on Nicollet mall so if you need a lunch spot or are staying downtown it’s very easy to get to. It’s also large and well decorated. Cons: The drinks are overpriced and underwhelming, my Moscow Mule was just bad, not even in a copper cup. The food is average, it’s a chain restaurant and the food feels that way. I will probably be back to check out the roof top bar once it opens but I don’t plan on recommending this place any time soon.

I stopped in Ling & Louie’s for the first time after work for Happy Hour. They have a great location right on Nicollet Mall and great urban style ennvironment different from the other restaurants on the block. I can only comment on the Happy Hour menu at this point, but I was really happy with service overall. Their appetizer menu was all half price around $ 5– $ 6. I ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll and Chicken Lettuce Wraps, expecting to need both dishes to have a full meal. I was really impressed with the large portions for Happy Hour and the great flavors. Drinks were also reasonably priced with beers about $ 5 and wine with $ 1 – 2 discounts. I would definitely return for dinner to check out their full menu or just drinks at the bar area.

I went here for my cousin’s birthday a few months ago(when they were fairly newer) and I have to say we were not as impressed as we thought we were going to be. Ling and Louie’s is essentially an urban PF Changs… all of the food we ate was OVERLY sweet — so sweet it was almost was hard to eat. We ordered the calamari, potstickers, chow fun, salmon, some kind of beef stir fry, and TBH a bunch of other stuff I can’t even remember because by the end everything tasted the same… sweet and oyster saucy. I think the only item I remember enjoying is the calamari because there’s kind of a bite to it and it wasn’t overcooked. Even though we did not exactly love the food, the atmosphere was actually really fun and the upstairs area is great for groups. Our server was a little out of it but he was a sweet kid — we were kind of a high maintenance group so he did an awesome job of keeping up with all of our requests. He also probably took like 23094230 photos of us on each of our phones, so much appreciation for his time =) The other servers were also equally as nice but our primary one pretty much went above and beyond and exceeded our expectations. The décor us super trendy and what you would expect an asian fusion restaurant to look like downtown. You can park in the same ramp as the Melting Pot’s and Hell’s Kitchen – you just have to cross the street to get to Ling & Louie’s. I’m not sure if I will go back for the food, but the atmosphere is pretty fun — so maybe a quick stop on a night out.

Ling & Louie’s is a brand new restaurant on Nicollet Mall in downtown Mpls. I tried it during late lunch with coworkers this week and was super excited since Asian is my favorite type of food! I scoured the menu and actually had a hard time deciding between traditional Asian noodle dishes, stir fries, or fusion inspired dishes. Our server strongly recommended the F’n Loaded Sliders made with Asian sliced beef, bacon, and lettuce/tomato. I love a good recommendation from staff so I went for it. Ultimately it was a good recommendation because 50% of our table wasn’t impressed with their choices. My coworker who got a BLT loved it. The ones that tried Beef with Broccoli(pictured) and the one who got chicken Lo Mein were disappointed. I thought the former looked really good but he thought it was a tad bland and he was disappointed to discover they had no salt and pepper shakers in the restaurant(although the server said the chef took that as a good suggestion). They were unfortunately out of chicken(?) which could be understandable for a new place working out the stocking kinks. She tried the Shrimp Lo Mein instead and thought it was rather plain. I loved my sliders and thought the sweet bun paired with Asian seasoned beef and salty bacon was a nice mix of flavors and textures. I’d try this place again and give them another chance once they’ve been open a little longer!
