I haven’t ever ventured into the Loring Theater in the near three years of me living here, near 15 years that I’ve been journeying to MPLS total, but I’m glad I finally was drawn in. I went to see a friend play(Aria Soulder(?), beautiful voice, lovely girl) and I found this theater to be nice for a concert set-up. It’s a lovely theater that has been maintained well enough that the intricate moldings and decorations are still in tact. It’s a nice, romantic kind of place for a mellow show that puts you in a nostalgic sort of mood. With that being said, I also saw«Wet Hot American Summer» which is fairly contrary to everything I just said :) This place definitely holds its own for movies too. Very versatile! I think the ambiance of this place is definitely more the former than the latter though. It’s nice to see that it’s be used in all the ways possible though. It’s worth checking out if you see something intriguing on the event calender.

I’ve actually been here a few times now and have had a really great time! They do a really fun offering of Mimosa & a Movie on Sundays, and usually have some really great retro movies playing while you chill out and enjoy a mimosa with your friends! I really enjoyed seeing Triple Espresso there this winter as well! It was a really fun show to go to, and I will probably be going to see it again next year if they have it back!

I checked this place out the other week after buying the groupon for the debut of their«Mimosa & Movies» series because my roommate and I love Funny Girl. The Sunday afternoon movies are part of their new marketing strategy — and the place was packed so it seems to be working! The theater is super cute & vintage, with a great bar and a friendly staff. The $ 10 ticket usually includes a movie ticket, a mimosa, and popcorn. This could definitely be a great casual girls-afternoon-out type activity, depending on the movie.

Halloween Event was so much fun. I was not quite sure what I was in for but, it was defiantly a different experience! Its not no «lets see if we can make you crap!» haunted house. I am talking literally you are apart of the play. This year they had Phantom of the Opera and the actors brought us throughout the whole theater as the madness unfolded. No coffins and dead bodies here just the opportunity to get up close and personal whit the actors. So, bring your friends and make a night out of it.

I was there today(Sunday) — and they are doing this new thing called«Movies and Mimosas». It doesn’t look like it’s EVERY Sunday, but most of them. Cost is $ 10 for the movie — and you get a free Mimosa! Not sure where they are posting what movie they are showing… more to come.

I visited Loring Theater with a groupon for their Sunday afternoon Mimosa & Movies series. The $ 10 deal included a ticket for Funny Girl, two mimosas, and unlimited popcorn. In what appeared to be their first event of the kind, there was a slight delay in starting the movie as it proved much more popular than anticipated — people were lined up around the door! So many people turned up that they even ran out of champagne. Beyond that, the event was well-run and a fantastic success — really fun atmosphere, very attentive staff, and a classic movie selection. My roommate and I had a great time! Can’t wait to return for Breakfast Club and Annie Hall in the next couple weeks!

I love old fashioned theaters where you walk in and immediately imagine yourself back in the 30’s where people wore extravagant dresses, top hats with canes, and spoke proper English. This is just one of the many theaters hidden throughout downtown Minneapolis. The theater is clean, has a nice bar, and comfortable seats. A new marketing strategy they recently advertised, is their Sunday afternoon movie and Mimosa’s. I went on the first Sunday to see ‘Funny Girl’, my first Barbara Streisand movie! It was amazing and the place was filled! They even offered free parking in a school parking lot a few blocks down from the theater. The staff was also great by making an announcement that the show would start soon because they were waiting for the rest of people to enter. They offer other shows and concerts and I believe this is a great venue to see them in! Well done Loring Theater, well done!
