Grilled cheese? Sure. With bacon? Oh yeah. Add apple, honey, and walnuts? All the better — Really. These are the ingredient’s of the O’ Cheeze grilled B.A.C.H.N sandwich. Given the name of the sandwich, you’d think that bacon would be the star — but you’d be wrong. This sandwich is light, bright and delivers more delight than you’d expect from a grilled cheese. The ingredients, melted with Fontina cheese offers layers of unexpected, and welcoming flavors. As a blue cheese fan, I’m eager to try the ‘Big Stink’ sandwich containing blue cheese, Gorgonzola and Jalapeño jam… but that’s for another day. In addition to offering grilled cheeses, the food truck rotates in other options… including an alluring spaghetti sandwich with noodles, garlic, sauce and mozzarella. If I had any suggestions, it would be for O’Cheeze to offer one or more cold sandwiches. Perhaps, an exotic or creative PBJ-inspired combo. I’m not always seeking a hot sandwich on a warm, summer day. Originally, I was concerned that eating a grilled cheese sandwich on a hot, summer day would feel heavy — but the B.A.C.H.N. sandwich was perfect. O’ Cheeze makes It’s easy to be cheezy.

if you haven’t found this truck yet you are definitely missing out. Not your normal grilled cheese. a fun twist on a old favorite, I would highly recommend trying all of the sandwiches on the menu, because they are all unique. I mean a Macaroni and cheese sandwich! Where have you had one of those before. My favorite though is the Big Stink with Gorgonzola, Blue cheese, fontina cheese and Pears, you need to be a stinky cheese fan for this one but if you are it is as good as it sounds. How about a three cheese grilled cheese with Havarti, Dubliner and chedder cheese? If you are a cheese lover you cannot go wrong with that,. The menu changes regularly so get there before these are gone. If cheese is not your deal check out the smothered fries. They smother them in a Red Pepper or Truffle Aioli(get half of each) another unique thing on this truck. I am a fan of food trucks and the fun things they do, but this one is special and fun because as I said it takes an old favorite and makes it new. Check it out you will not be sorry. P. S. We all know that grilled cheese and tomato soup are a perfect pair so make sure you try the soup, Tomatocado, tomato soup made with avacado did I say unique? did I say tastes great? It is and it does.

As an Englishman, I am new to grilled cheese, but sampling the delicious fare from this friendly vehicular venue makes me wish we had lost the war of independence — wait a second…

It wasn’t strictly by chance that I crossed paths with the O’Cheeze food truck. I had been hoping for this encounter since I heard of them last year, and I wasn’t disappointed. Wait, let me take that back, I was disappointed that I couldn’t order everything on the menu! I ended up choosing the caprese sandwich with fresh tomato, basil and mozzarella and the tomatocado soup, and even though they got my order out fairly quickly, I still had time to drool over the orders that were coming out before mine. They all looked so good and just when I was starting to re-think my order, my sandwich came up and was delivered. Although I plan on going back and trying EVERYTHING on the menu, I was very, very pleased with my choice of sandwich. The ingredients were so fresh and there was a balsamic vinaigrette sauce that just set the ingredients off perfectly. The soup was amazing and it was obvious that this is not a freeze and reheat kind of a truck. As far as I am concerned they will get my order every time the opportunity presents itself. I am looking forward to trying their signature Mac and cheese sandwich, as I saw that it was a popular item while I was in line. They have made me a fan and a follower — I now check their page daily looking for my next opportunity to make sure our paths cross.

I have to say, the first time I saw the City Pages write up for O’Cheeze, I considered finding a job downtown so I could maximize my chances of having a lunch break while their around. I’m not good at locating food trucks, I usually just leave it up to chance, but this was one I felt I needed to go out of my way to experience. So when the Harriet Brewing MFTA Food Truck Rally was going on last Saturday, I NEEDED to go! Several food trucks I wanted to try would be around, and who doesn’t want to wash it back with a beer? Needless to say, once we got through the gates, I bee-lined for O’Cheeze. My father looked around several times, but I was determined. I had seen a review in the City Pages that claimed they had the best Mac & Cheese Grilled Cheese Sammy ever, so naturally I was going to try that overly starchy coupling immediately. I also love tomato-basil soup, especially for dipping, so I ordered their Tomato Avocado soup as well. The service was great, and the staff was very friendly. The bread they used was perfect for a small sandwich. But something just felt lack luster about the whole thing. From the review I had read, I felt like the cheeses would be a little different than Mac & Cheese cheddar. But I did eat the whole thing, so it couldn’t have been THAT bad. The soup really let me down though. It was good, but was in serious need of a little sugar to balance out the very tomato-y flavor, especially with avocado in the mix. It lacked enough cream to make it a really good dipping soup, which also disappointed me. Over all, the best part was the dollop of cheese on top of the soup which was delicious and paired perfectly with the soups flavor. I really wanted to be more impressed than I ended up feeling, and if I see their truck again I’m going to give it another shot, because I don’t give up that easy. But I think some adjustments to the soup are necessary.

Oh my cheeze!!! Delicious. I am a self proclaimed grilled cheese fanatic, and this place rocks. Saw the truck at the Harriet Brewing Food Truck Sampler thingy, and I had to indulge. I got the C.C.B.R.(Which is a chipotle pulled chicken, with pepper jack cheese, bacon, and ranch for you amateurs). The chicken was super flavorful and the bread was perfectly toasted. My only complaints are MOREBACON! And I was expecting more of a grilled cheese oozing-with-cheese sandwich with chicken, but it was more of a chipotle pulled chicken sandwich with cheese… If that makes sense. The soup was DOPE! Made with tomato, basil, and avocado, it was perfectly seasoned, and the texture of the soup was perfectly creamy. Not too creamy, not too soupy, it was just right. I am definitely trying this out again to eat ALL the sandwiches. Nomnomnom. XOXO –G.G.(That stands for ‘grilled-cheese girl’, not gossip girl, FYI)
