I made the mistake of going to a different barber today (read: cheated on the shop) and called Kailey in a panic. Thankfully she was available and I headed straight over. She’s always done a phenomenal job, no matter the mess I bring her. I once went after shaving a tonsure for a Monks tribute show and she made me look presentable again. Today was no different. She worked her magic and saved my day. It bears mentioning I always feel very welcome and comfortable in the shop too. Great service, great vibes, great prices. The only reason I wouldn’t recommend this place would be to selfishly ensure I could book the appointments I wanted.

I see Tammy, the owner now at Shear Art. I’m so glad I found this little gem of a hair stylin’ joint. My hair always looks great when I leave. Tammy and the other staff are professional and personable. I pay $ 105 for a full foil and cut. That’s reasonable and they’ll do up your bangs for free if you’re a regular customer in between major do ups. Plus they’ll always offer you a glass of wine, so no need to BYOB! ;) Can’t really ask for more than reasonable gorgeous hair and a glass of wine right?!

From the moment you walk in the door, Shear Art Hair Studio makes you feel so welcome. I can drive there and always find close parking. They have an easy appointment booking system that allows you to select exactly what you want from the stylist of your choice. Sometimes I arrive early so I can buy from their selection of infinity scarves, jewelry and hair products. BTW I’ve converted over to Paul Mitchell styling products for «shine» and «control.»
Tammy is the owner and my stylist of choice because she knows color and I’ve got the «fading red hair issue.»
Just today, I used their booking system so Tammy can trim my wild, sometimes frizzy, hair now reacting to early summer humidity issues.
I plan, in the future, to try their nail and massage services.
So, YES, I am happy to recommend Shear Art Hair Studio.

Just got my haircut at «shear art.» Upon walking in the salon, I immediately felt that I should’ve turned right around and walked out. One day I will learn to listen to that gut instinct but this was not the day. I digress, so onward with this review.
For starters, they were overbooked so I waited for 15 min while my stylist finished a pedicure. When we got to the hair cut the stylist informed me of a cowlick I have after the fact that she cut it too short. Now I could have told her about it before but she was rushing so fast because the next appt had showed up that I didn’t catch her in time. She actually played it off as if she discovered it before the damage was done. Sorry hun, that thing sticking out the back of my head is a cowlick that every other stylist/​barber could see beneath a hard hat. I asked her to shorten up over my ears and she started fading up the back of my head… I was frustrated but being MN nice I said that’ll do before things got … well… uglier.
I wish I could have wrote a better review because I did want it to be a good experience and the ability to have a regular stylist close to home, I can’t see why I should have to run over to uptown or NE to get a chop. But in my attempt to streamline my monthly calendar, I now have to deal with «this» for a month, good thing my mop grows quickly. So for now I am left looking for a good, reasonably priced chop shop in Nokomis area.

Jenna is an absolutely talented stylist and does a wonderful job. I would highly recommend her.

I was on vacation in the area and Tammy, the owner, fit me in on short notice. She knew I was in a hurry, so she and Jenna «tag teamed» me to get my color done. In visiting with Tammy, I found she is a color educator for Paul Mitchell. Good service, professional, and upbeat attitude. A regular client came in as a walk in, and there seems to be a great rapport. A great experience, and a nice salon.

I love this salon! I live in the neighborhood and was so glad to find a salon close by and with late hours (I work 9:30−6 downtown). I’ve gone to Jenna for a haircut and color. She is fantastic, we discussed what I wanted and I got it. She’s very intuitive and down to earth. My haircolor turned out awesome, the shade of red I wanted right away; we even experimented with ombré shading and it turned out great, subtle but fun.
I sent a friend here for a haircut and color and she was just as happy with Ashley.
The atmosphere is laid back and fun, just what I want from a locally owned, small salon. As I waited for my hair color to set, I sat with Jenna, Ashley and another client and talked, laughed, and drank wine. I’m going to send everyone I know here!

I was in Minneapolis for a wedding, and called my old hair dresser to set an appointment. She’d opened her own salon since I moved back to Los Angeles, and I have to say that I really wish she’d had this place when I was a local!
IMO Tammy, the owner, is one of the best hairdressers in the city. She’s a Paul Mitchell certified color educator, and she teaches other hair dressers in the mid-​West how to do hair color. She’s also a really great hair cutter and listens to clients. I’ve never had a bad experience in her chair.
She’s also trained the other stylists in the salon, so I’m sure everyone will get an equally great experience.
