Since moving here, I have now needed and received satisfactory service from these guys twice. The owner, Steve seems like a genuine man and discussing costs with him I have never felt that he was trying to rip me off in any way.
Both times, the actual time spent fixing my car was done quickly, done within the next day. I’d receive a phone call immediately after letting me know my car was ready.
The 2^nd time in was particularly expensive, and upon calling the Toyota service manager he confirmed that his price is indeed fair. Great to know there’s somebody out there you can trust!

They’ve always been very good — fixing small issues like tightening bolts on skid plate for no charge.
Price is more than fair to change oil — and they do it efficiently. Location is nice, offering free snacks and coffee/​tea while you wait.
I trust the staff here.

I relocated to Minneapolis two years ago and have been getting my wife’s car and my car serviced at Steve’s.
I have been very impressed with their professionalism and thoroughness. Customer service is excellent and timely in repairs.

These guys always take great care of me. Prices are a little on the higher side but they are honest, fast, and always make sure to get me all the information and then let me decide how best to move forward. I feel. Always come here for my oil changes and continuously receive great customer service, honest recommendations, and quick returns. If you do have to wait, just pop across the street and enjoy a delicious treat at Sun Street.

Excellent customer service, clear communication. The prices are higher than I’d like, but that’s just part of owning a car. I think they overstate their estimates a bit which is great. They manage expectations well. Never had the actual work cost more than the estimate. They are also timely in repairs. Highly recommended.

I have been bringing our car here for a few years now without any incidence. So when I found a screw in my new car’s tire, I didn’t hesitate to bring it in to Steve’s instead of risking driving to the dealership via the highway. It seems like they patched the tire ok but when I went to get my car, the new tan leather drivers seat, arm rest and steering wheel was totally gunked up with black grease. What the heck?! Then I inspected the tire, the tire valve cap is now missing and the hubcap is also super greasy and scratched. In hindsight I should have gone to the dealership where the repair would have been free!

Steves’ did a really nice thing this weekend for my daughter. Her car had a tire with low air, she took her car to Steves to have the low tire checked out. Appears the issue was just the tire needed more air, no repairs necessary. Steves technicians helped out by filling the tire to proper pressure, and did not charge her anything, even for checking out the tire. For a dad who wasn’t here to help check out these things, I was really glad Steves took the time to help my daughter out. Thanks guys, I cannot recommend you enough!

Steves does quality work. Their work comes in on the estimate, and they are genearlly able to get work done that day given their long hours, or by the next day. WE have had several cars as they aged serviced there and they have been very good to work with. In one case a part they put in failed about a year later (not their fault it was a defective part), under the mfgrs warranty they took care of the tow, the replacement part and labor and had us on the road again later that day. I don’t think they are the cheapest around, but I don’t worry about anything they do to our cars and I’ve never felt they were piling on «nice to haves» to run the bill up.

Today i called to get an estimate for a certain part replacement. i knew what the problem is and just wanted an estimate, i was requested to come in and have Steve’s tire auto take a look at it, so i did, afterward i was surprise there was a charge for the inspection, i was not informed there were be a charge beforehand. anyway i am currently doing more research and reading reviews so i can decide if i want to proceed with the services.

A second great experience. They helped fix the mistakes of the other shop. Still trust ‘em. They’ll still go the extra mile, letting me take photos of the broken parts the other shop left me with.

I brought my care into Steve’s to have my brakes serviced because I had noticed a «free brake inspection» sign. I told the guy, Pete, that I was pretty confident that the brakes needed to be done because I could hear them grinding. He said they would check them out, and quoted me $ 275-​$ 350 to replace the back breaks. Fortunately, I did not need to have the breaks fixed, but cleaned and readjusted (which I paid for). However, when I looked at the receipt, they charged me for «figuring out what was wrong.»
Then Pete told me, «well the brake inspection is just if we visually inspect the brakes with our eyes.» What!!! Isnt that what free brake inspection means???
It felt like to me, that they just did not want to let me out of the shop unless I could reach a certain dollar amount. In the future, no thanks! I will take my business somewhere that I don’t feel is evasive about the costs, and will not take advantage of a woman.

I’ve been going to Steve’s for service for a year and a half. I wish I would have found them sooner, they save me so much time and money. Excellent service and quality.

This place has little to no transparency with their billing system. When I was charged $ 220 to replace a serpentine and alternator belt on my 01 Buick Regal, not to mention $ 21 in «supplies» charges, I did some investigating and found the list price (list price, not best price) of the parts used for my car had been marked up 45% at Steve’s. When I asked if I could see a pricing chart, I was told none existed. When I asked how much labor was per hour, I was told it varies, but there does not seem to be any chart a customer can look at. I went in and asked about the pricing and was told, «Well, we are not the cheapest, but we will not sell you anything you don’t need.» So I’m supposed to be happy that they don’t scam me, even if they ridiculously overcharge me? I would not recommend this place. They lure you in with a deal on an oil change and look over your car for «free.» Expect to see lots of tacked on charges everywhere else.
I do believe Steve’s does quality work, however, they charge unfair prices.

First time here today with my not so awesome (but paid off!!) car. I needed an alignment badly. They explained everything and I left the car there. They called me later to give me an update. Bad news — frame had rusted out and the passenger control arm was half disconnected. Not cool. Needed a new sub frame — $ 1600. But, they knew enough to know that Hyundai (I know, I know… But it’s paid off) had a recall going for this exact issue for excessive rust and failure in this area. They called the local dealer for me and had them run the VIN. They found out that my car may be covered, but there was an issue proving my car was under the recall blanket. They took pics of the issue and emailed them to me to help me plead my case to Hyundai. They really went above and beyond to help me out.
When I dropped the car off, they made sure I understood that if it they found something wrong and I decided not to go with their shop for the repairs, there would still be a $ 42 fee for checking it out. That’s fair. Their time and expertise is valuable. They didn’t charge me. I insisted, and they still didn’t take my money. They went out of their way to help me get $ 1600 worth of repairs paid for by Hyundai that they would not be seeing a dime from. That is truly killer. They just earned a customer for life. Much appreciated, gentlemen. You really turned a potentially not so awesome situation into a great experience. Cheers!

Terrible! Scammers! I went in to get a leak in my tire patched. They told me the tire was irreparable because it had a leak by the rim. Tried to get me to buy a tire on the spot for $ 200.08. I said no, just put my spare on. They said in that case they’ll just patch the hole for now, but that it would eventually need to be changed because the tire was not safe. I paid for the patch and I Left. Next day my tire was low again so I went to put in air and THE VALVE CAP WAS GONE. Simple mistake right? Then I took my car to my mechanic to check it. The leak was in the tread, not the rim, and they didn’t even fix the leak, they left the nail in! No wonder it had to be filled every other day. MY MECHANIC TACKED UP MY TIRE FOR $ 20 and it has lasted over a month with no issues. Shame on you!

No B.S. Always honest. Nice guys. Ask you what you need, and they do it. Drive right up, usually don’t have to wait more than 20 – 30 minutes for a standard oil change, no appointment needed.

I’ve been going to Steve’s Tire and Auto for many years now and I’m always impressed with their honesty in the condition of my car. From routine oil chances to the occasional problem with my car they fix my car and offer affordable, realistic solutions. They never try to sell or up-​sell you repairs you don’t need.
Steve’s a perfect choice for a routine oil change (no appointment necessary), a new battery, new brakes, a mechanical check-​up or to seek a solution for something that just doesn’t seem right happening with your car. Twice I’ve take my car to Steve’s Tire & Auto after being to a different shop and they found problems the other shop had done and fix them for free! They work nicely with insurance companies.
Expect friendly service, a clean/​relaxing lobby and reasonable pricing. There are a few coffee shops/​bakery shops in the area to hang out while your car is fixed. And use bus 146 on the corner of Nicollet & 46^th Street to quickly zoom downtown (10 mins or less!) after you drop your car off here in the morning.

Went into Steve’s for an oil change 3 years ago:
–Told me battery was nearly dead = Richfield Honda put in an old used battery (seriously)
— The tires were bald and about to explode = Richfield Honda put Dunlap tires that were totally worn in 6 months
— They talked me out of a totally unnecessary plastic part that the dealer insisted I needed ($ 600 for a thing under my car that I knocked off when I wedged myself onto an ice shelf)
I now go to Steve’s for all work: new tires, oil changes, freon for my a/​c, etc.
Can you get work done cheaper somewhere else? sure. But I like having the piece of mind that things will be done right.
Going to Steve’s is like having a long term bf vs a one night stand.

After having an okay experience with the other Steve’s Tire & Auto location on 34^th Avenue I referred my girlfriend to this location, being that they are open on weekends. Wow, what a mistake!
The strange sound coming from her front suspension ended up being strut-​related, and from what numerous mechanics say it is typical for Nissan SUVs to require new struts around 60k miles anyways. I’m not upset about the diagnosis — cars require upkeep — I’m upset about being ripped off. Steve’s quoted her $ 1,334!
After picking my jaw up off the floor I started calling other mechanics in the area. I brought her car to three other places, all of them beating Steve’s price by a minimum of $ 300. To each mechanic I showed the breakout of parts and labor from Steve’s Tire & Auto and none of them could understand how the price got so high. In the end we employed the services of Flannery Brothers Auto on 28^th, and the final bill was even less than they quoted. Also, all three other locations provided free diagnosis… Steve’s charged her $ 34.95.
Never again!
