Love the sushi it’s at extremely reasonable prices. Its also made fresh which is refreshing for Minneapolis. My only issue is they say they close at 3 but it’s more like 1 – 2. I had a late work day, missed my normal lunch got there around 1:30ish and the place was empty with the exception of the stuff no one eats. So just go during reasonable times.

Whoa, finally, another sushi place that just might tug me away from one two three sushi… at least once in a while. Sushi Do is a really good sushi option located in the Baker Center. The place is super tiny, so it’s really more of a grab and go restaurant. However, their sushi are freshly made and really delicious. I grabbed a shrimp tempura roll from the cooler and had a dragon roll made for me by the sweet lady behind the counter. The fish tasted non-fishy, which is to say it tasted fresh. The rice was perfect, the veggies were delicious, and I just really want to go there for lunch tomorrow. The specialty rolls are a little pricier, at $ 9.06, but for the quality you get, it’s definitely worth it. And, for a small store, they have a pretty wide selection of food, from sushi to donburi bowls, nigiri, sashimi, and even Japanese snacks. I’m so happy I found you Sushi Do.

Just tried Sushi Do for the first time and it did not disappoint. I chose the Dragon Roll and a classic/simple Futomaki(sweet egg, cucumber & shiitake mushroom roll). I wanted to try the nigiri sushi, but the quality/fish to rice ratio/fish did not look appetizing to me. It appeared to be very comparable to nigiri you would find at Cub or Target(minus 1 star). The rolls I chose tasted very authentic-Japanese. The futomaki transferred me back to my days abroad in Japan, where I would frequently buy it from the convenience store. This place imports a lot of other products and offers a lot of other common Japanese treats that we don’t see all that much of in the Twin Cities(especially the skyways). Examples being: takoyaki, dango, onigiri, mochi, along with packaged snacks like Pocky. Sadly the takoyaki looked a little«sad» to me, but I can’t account for the taste so I guess I can’t judge. Just remember this is still skyway food, so you’re not going to see the fish filleted before your eyes. If you’re into Japanese food/culture, you will definitely appreciate what Sushi Do has to offer.

Very quick and excellent quality Sushi. Very nice and friendly staff. Pros I generally get Sushi here twice a week. It is very quick– you basically pick up Sushi from a cooled area which has a nice assortment of pre-made Sushi(in addition to additional items) Great location– very close to IDS The food is fresh, they start making the food in the mornings This is a reasonably small place with limited seating They often run in-store promos(i.e. get free tofu soup with purchase etc.) They have some very delicious garlic-mayo. I have never had anything that is as tasty as their type of mayo They recently added a few lcd screens with menu displayed, that looks really cool Cons/Improvement areas I don’t think it is possible, but adding some more seating might help Long story short, the plastic box generally includes Sushi, Soy Sauce, Wasabi and Ginger. You need to pickup chopsticks, small plastic sauce mixer and tissues from the counter. I have had times when they haven’t included soy sauce in the plastic box. They used to have wet finger tissues which I didn’t see recently. It helps remove the smell from the fingers if you happen to touch the soy/wasabi mix Overall, if you are around this place here and are craving Sushi and don’t have much time, you should definitely visit this place

Best place for cheap sushi. They make sushi right in front of you, so that’s even better.

Most down-to-earth japanese joint in the twin cities. Food: –This is the ONLY place in the cities to find dango(mochi ball/rice dumpling skewers); they carry traditional flavors like sweet soy, black sesame, and japanese herb rice with red bean paste, all yummilicious just like the ones I had in japan; also, you get a box of two skewers for only $ 2.99 –Takoyaki(fried octopus balls, comes in a box of 5); yummy and I could actually taste the octopus; however, not made fresh and imported from their Chicago vendor, but for a mere price of $ 2.50 I didn’t give a shit –They’ve also got a variety of your typical sushi, seaweed/squid salads, mini shumai, japanese noodles, sashimi platter with 2 hours of advanced notice, snacks and desserts like daifu/mochi/green tea ice cream, all for super cheap Service: –Pay at the register, self-serve –Love the sweet japanese lady at the counter I still can’t get over how cheap everything is here, makes me want to puke up all that overpriced crap from pretentious japanese restaurant everywhere else.

Sushi Do will more than do when you’re craving some fast sushi in the skyway. A couple of weeks ago I received an email offer from Living Social, $ 1 for $ 10 worth of order-online-take-out. At the beginning this sounded overly complicated but fear not, my co-worker and I ordered easily online, descriptions included in the choices, we paid a few dollars for tip and tax, then walked over 20 minutes later. Upon arrival we were greeted and our lunches were waiting, refrigerated and conveniently packed. All we needed to do was sign for it. Back at my office I devoured my order of Smoked Eel Nigiri, the Rock and Roll(smoked eel, eel sauce, sesame seeds, and avocado — yes, I love eel) roll, and a basic salmon roll. For roughly $ 12 this was more than enough for two. It hit the spot, the eel was perfectly cooked and the amount of rice to rolls was perfect, aka not a ridiculous amount of rice. I know I used a discounted deal on my first run here but now I know where I’ll be headed for sushi when I need a fast fix. Ordering online is available directly from their website as well.

I’m currently in a phase where I’m trying to get myself to like sushi, so I did a little impromptu«vegetarian sushi» Unilocal/soul search and came across Sushi Do. Something about skyway, pre-packaged sushi didn’t rub me the right way, but after noting how busy it was while I walked by, I decided to give it a try. I’m glad I did! I chose the vegetarian combo with brown rice, a package of edamame and a can of green tea. For pre-packaged sushi, I could tell that it was prepared that morning because it was really fresh. For those of you reading this and going«Well, yeah, yours had no fish in it» fear not, the ACTUAL sushi my coworker ordered was well-received too. Sushi Do reminded me so much of Red Cherry(the fro-yo place), but that’s probably due to the shiny red accents. It was cute, but that doesn’t really matter much since it’s a take-and-eat kind of place anyway. One thing that I did think was kind of odd: My coworker was offered to start a punch card but I was not. Sushi Do-n’t leave me out of the deals!

most rewarding sushi hands down. not only will the chef make sushi on call after the lunch rush, but you can order mochi ice cream with it as well. my favorite thing to do was order sushi and watch as people walk through the skyway! eat and become a fan. NOW!

Back working downtown after a few years of working in the ‘burbs. While exploring business changes in the skyway, I was happy to see a couple of new Japanese establishments, as I truly crave sushi often. This is a great place to get my «fix» and have not had a bad roll yet. Considering my lunch break doesn’t start until 2, I still find the selection very fresh at this time. Not as much variety as late in the day, but there is always something I like and the price is reasonable. Now the best for last: The seaweed salad! Wow… I can say that I could eat this every day, at every meal if I could 1) afford it(about $ 3.49 for a small pile) or 2) figure out how to make it myself. Its the perfect amount of crispy and soft with tons of flavor. Love it!

I am a sushi snob. Not that I am super well versed or even close to an expert. I just know when I love it, when it seems just okay and when it is simply not good and the worst, when it is down right bad and stomach churning. Sushi Do in the Baker Center Skyway is amazing! I have never been disappointed in three years of stopping for grab and go sushi lunch. What is more, they have the best thing in the whole world… Soba Noodle Salad!!! Yummy, ginger, carrot dressing with cold soba noodles and cukes and some imitation crab… yummers.(yes, I know imitation crab… but somehow it is good an I like it) I am serious, I won’t pick up grocery store sushi, I love only Fujiya and Origami… I will tolerate Nami and Tiger, but I am always happy with Sushi Do. Plus, the ladies that work there are super cute and sweet.

Every day I try and walk a little bit further from my office, but these sub-zero temps have kept me indoors for the last few weeks. After some wandering today I stumbled upon this place and figured. the worst that can happen is I get sick. So maybe I did only get a california roll, but it was good. Rice has a nice texture and doesn’t leave that shady aftertaste… you know the one I’m talking about, like bad vinegar. ALSO the price was $ 3.85. Not too shabby for a quick lunch. Will be heading back there.

It is the only place at Minneapolis that I find a special kind of Japanese rice cake! It is not the one with red bean sauce inside, but with brown sugar/red bean/black sesame outside and are put together(usually four together) by wood stick.

In the mire of crap food cluttering the skyway, Sushi Do(as in «DOH» said Homer Simpson style… if one more ridiculous middle-aged lady says«Sushi do?» in my presence, I will go medieval on some hineys… anyway…) is pretty much the real deal. Great freshly made sushi rolls, with all the usual tasty stuff– eel, squid, shrimp, everything. Super tasty extras like mochi, dango, and all the food I remember from quick lunches in Japan. They also have a a very wafu point card system. I am not quite sure what you get for a grand prize, but if it’s more sushi, I’m in. I’d also be curious to try their ramen or udon, two other quick lunch staples over in the Land of the Rising Sun. I bet they’d be awesome, as all this stuff is handmade by cute Japanese ladies, who obviously know the ropes. Real sushi, undiluted and unbastardized, for your cheap lunching pleasure. I know where I’m going tomorrow afternoon~

Working downtown, I walked by Sushi Do almost everyday as I was hiding from the cold and snow during the winter. I always thought about going there, but my schedule never seemed to match up. Finally I had the chance to check this little sushi shop out. I was pleasantly surprised. …Okay, I was downright excited. There were many options in the case to choose from. Salmon, tuna, shrimp, eel, squid, even this odd rice krispy, avocado slathered«dragon roll» that, I will admit, looked tasty. The prices were pretty good considering the quality of food and what it must have cost to ship the fish to a land-locked state, miles away from an ocean. I had the Salmon, tuna, and shrimp combo and it tasted like any other nigiri I had in Japan. The cuts were perfect. I didn’t get to try the ramen or the udon bowls, but they looked oh so delicious. There were plenty of other snack options, mochi, azuki dango, pocky(always anywhere animu freaks may inhabit), the edamame was awesome, fresh, and not too salty. They also have a point card, which ensures that I will be a frequent visitor. A stamp is given for every $ 5 you spend and every 10 stamps gets you a small prize… which I believe may be a can of pop, a snack, or some other small treat. 50 stamps will get you the GRANDPRIZE which I have yet to figure out. A repeat trip is in order. The ladies who operate this small giant of a place are friendly and patient, yet quick with orders. You can tell the obaasan knows exactly what is going on behind the counter. Sushi Do is the real thing. Great sushi, with fringe options if you so choose. But if you want the unadorned, true Japanese sushi, get it here.

I love Sushi-Do for a good, fast skyway lunch. This is mostly a «grab-n-go» type of place, however, you can get something specifically made for you. The thing I like most about this place is that they always have interesting extras. There’s always something new to grab and try. Mini japanese sandwiches? Sure! Dango? HECKYES! Interesting sushi combos? Always! I’ve never had a «miss» here. Everything I’ve tried has been fresh and oishii(delicious). I’ve tried several things here — vegetarian futomaki, inari, seaweed salad, dango(dumplings on a skewer), japanese sandwiches, miso soup, udon… All awesome. The inari is my most recent discovery… and my new favorite thing! They also have a variety of mixed dippings — chili(kewpie!) mayo, sweet sour chili oil, and other various things I haven’t tried. it’s all complimentary. They ask me which are my favorites so they can stock them. You can tell they’re really trying to accommodate to their clientele. The only downside i’ve experienced here is that when I ordered Udon in broth, they put a bunch of crab on top. I don’t eat meat, so I picked it all out. The description of the dish didn’t state it had crab, so I thought I was safe. If you don’t see exactly what is in the dish, ask. I’m sure the staff will be willing to tell you. They are incredibly sweet, kind, and accommodating. Oh, another thing that they carry that I know some people love — japanese snacks. They carry mochi, wasabi peas, rice crackers, pocky, and an assortment of stuff like that. What makes this place outshine most japanese restaurants in the twin cities to me is that it feels like a japanese corner store. They have«street food» and an altering, ever-growing menu. You can taste the love and care that goes into preparing this food. If this place were closer to my building, I’d be here at least twice a week!
