I was visiting from Chicago and took the mini barre class. This class is somewhat of an «express» class which fits a bunch of work into a shorter period of time then the usual 60 minute barre classes. It is very fast paced without as much stretching as you might see in a 60 minute class. Overall I thought the class was very challenging in a good way. The highlight for me was the focus on the use of multiple muscle groups in many sections of the class. Instead of using weights only in the beginning of the class we used them throughout; during legs, abs etc. My only complaint was that being new to the studio and their program I felt a little lost at times. I am guessing since it was the express class there wasn’t the time to provide better instructions. Thus, my feedback would be to take a few regular classes to get the hang of their general routine prior to taking the mini barre class. I have been to a number of barre studios and this class had some very challenging but fun exercises that I haven’t seen before. I felt like it was a great workout and if I lived in Minneapolis I would definitely be a regular client.

I’ve never had a less than awesome workout here. The workout is always in the same order by body area focus(push-ups, planks, arms, thighs, glutes, bar abs, floors abs) but then exercises targeting each area are always tweaked just enough so each workout feels a little different. I always leave sore but not unbearably so. I’ve taken classes with at least 5 different instructors and have never had a bad class. Awesome studio!

I’m struggling to write this review. Not because I’m not sure what to say, but because my arms still hurt from the workout so it’s hard to type. I bought a Groupon to check them out but will happily continue to pay full price for their classes. The workout was great. High energy and not overly crowded, and worked muscle groups that I didn’t even know I had. I don’t know if it’s women only, but it certainly was a woman-centered workout – lots of butt, hips and back of the arms. Also a good focus on back muscles, which I especially appreciated. I’m a complete klutz and wasn’t able to keep up, but the instructor still made me feel really comfortable and welcome. The studio itself is lovely and has a great location near 50th& France. The only negative feedback I have is that the music was so loud that I couldn’t hear the instructor so that made it difficult to sometimes know what we were supposed to be doing. My hips are totally throbbing now, I have to go lie down. When I recover I’ll be back for sure.

Wonderful workout!!! This is the second location for The Barre– the first location is in downtown Wayzata. Whatever location you go to– you will get a great workout and meet really friendly and helpful instructors! They also offer child care at this location too!
