The Belmore/The New Skyway Lounge

Disaster on a Sunday morning. Service was atrocious… earnest but incompetent. Food took 45 minutes with three tables in front of us. We ordered eggs, not the Taj Mahal. Oatmeal was cold. I really wanted to love the place as there was no wait for a table and the spartan surroundings weren’t a turn off for us. But the slow and poor service were. Food that wasn’t cold was fine but not worth the hassle.

This place is cool. Its never super busy, which i personally love. The food is bomb and the vibe is super lax. A great place to come if you want to be able to hear the people you are with.

One of those places that you really have to look for to find because there are no signs.
I got there at about 6pm and was the first of our small group to arrive. I told the bar tender that the only number I could find to call them was a number with a 239 area code. I did get their new number and it’s 612 339‑5990.
This is not a place that will knock your socks off with visual appeal, it’s a small place with about 7 tables and a small bar. They appear to have live music but or server never got back to us on the opening act of the evening.
The menu is short and sweet so you don’t have a lot of dinner options to mill over and I chose the tomato soup, burrito and butterscotch pudding. One of the main reasons we came here was for the pudding (legendary from the now closed Nick and Eddie). The soup was a nice and thick tomato with a little pesto in the middle to mix it up a bit. It was served with some ho-​hum cheddar biscuits. The burrito was good and very big, one of those that you can barely fit in your mouth if you move it around and squish it in :) I only ate ½ because I had to save room for the butterscotch pudding. I have to admit that I didn’t think it was as good as Nick and Eddy fame but it was close and a fine ending to a good meal.

Love that this joint is in my neighborhood now! Killer pizza, sick desserts and great staff. Just gotta get there now to check out a show!
