The Day Spa

I went to the spa the other day and got a pedi and massage. My mother in law asked who our masseuses were and I had Blair and she had Jaime. I have had Blair before and her massages feel like someone is applying lotion and it doesn’t feel like a massage at all. My mother in law knew that I’d didn’t like my past massage from her and she had us switch. She said I needed extra TLC due to recent life experiences. So we switched and I had a massage from Jaime and I said I know it is supposed to be a relaxation massage but can you use pressure? Jaime did a wonderful job. It wasn’t necessarily deep tissue the whole time but it was relaxing and I felt like I got a great massage. We then got our feet done and they did a wonderful job as well. We went to pay and my mother in law got charged an extra 40 without her masseuse (Blair) telling her that she would charge her for deep tissue. I told my mother in law that she should have went to see Jaime instead of me. I payed for my mother in laws massage and didn’t want her to have to chip in the extra 40 at least without prior knowledge.

Went for a facial. The lady was late calling me back, the table was incredibly uncomfortable, the lady washed my face then put on the first mask, and spent time cleaning her counter while it set. Then she did a few other things and then put on my second mask and left the room to get samples I told her I didn’t need as I like the products I use. When she came back to wash off the second mask she informed me that she usually does a shoulder massage while the mask sets but she wanted to get me the samples. Such an uncomfortable situation being unhappy with someone who has you in a vulnerable situation. I paid and got the hell out of there vowing to never return. Worst facial I’ve ever received.

I have been going to the Day Spa for about a year and love it. My first time there I got a (much needed) prenatal massage followed by a pedicure. The massage was great, they have massage therapists who are trained in prenatal massage so they know what to do and not do. The rooms are cozy and relaxing. Each massage therapist I have seen has their own version of the relaxation massage too.
The pedicures are great too. The pedi stations are back towards the middle of the space so it’s a little more private and quiet.
I recently had my first ever facial with Greta and again, it was great. My face felt amazing after.
This is now the only place that I go to for massage, nails and face. This is my spa of choice.

Had two experiences here last week… a half hour massage and a pedicure. The massage was nice and well above adequate. Enjoyed conversation with my provider and felt good. Not light. Not deep/​Swedish. Was just right for me.
Pedicure was pleasant, but disappointing. Paid $ 37. Received new nail color and a warm neck wrap. Two thirds of the way through pedi, was wondering where I could quickly go to get someone to finish the job. No exfoliating of feet, etc. Saw other customers receiving this. Do not know how much they paid. Seems like $ 37 should have covered this basic part of a pedicure.
I thought the ambiance and rooms were nice.

I had the deep cleanse facial. Greta was AMAZING. So kind, relaxing and knowledgeable on assessing skin types and suggesting products. Gave me free samples of a couple products I really wanted to try. This was one of the best facials I’ve had in a LONG time. Worth every penny. Also, I had missed my appt a couple days before and had to reschedule and then even showed up late due to traffic. I felt horrible and thought they would be really upset with me but they were so calm and professional and even still fit me in. I WILL be going back here. This place rocks.

Have had my nails done here several times. The experience has always been average or below average. The ambiance –if you could call it that –is WAY lacking. Today I had the express pedicure which is basically what other places call a polish change. I was set afterwards in their cramped reception area under a nail dryer. The next dryer & chair were so close that when I turned to get out of my chair I completely ruined my nail on the chair jammed next to me. Yes first world problem — but isn’t this a customer oriented business? When I advised the red haired receptionist who is generally unpleasant anyway, I was advised there was nobody available to help me. When I said I guess I’d have to wait then because I couldn’t leave like this, there was no comment. After I inquired back a few times I was told someone else would be arriving in 30 minutes & maybe they would help me. Eventually another technician took me back to repair the nail & I saw my technician come out of the break room. Very weird vibe !!!

Loved this place! Got a 50 minute massage and its been the best massage that I’ve had in a while. The place is very clean and relaxing. They also accommodate many appointments on a short notice as they were able to give me two appointments on Mother’s Day with a one week notice. A bit on the expensive side but worth the price.

I visited this day spa today with 2 friends for relaxation 50 minute massages. My friends and I were not impressed at all from the moment we walked in the door. The receptionist was not very friendly, the sitting area is small and wad directly next to ladies getting their nails done. It was not a peaceful vibe.
The massage therapists greeted the 3 of us and called one of my friends by the wrong name.
My therapist seemed pleasant but when I asked to use the restroom was annoyed with me based on the look on her face when i asked.
Once she started my massage I noticed that she smelled like cigarettes and was chewing gum. That was not okay and I tried to just relax and be positive but just couldn’t get over the smell. Sge also was sighing so much Ivcould tell she was over it. I asked for a relaxation massage and at one point in time I was cringing, she was using so much pressure I thought she was going to jump on me.
At the end she placed a warm towel on my back which was nice but she snatched it off quickly… so much that I thought I was going to get towel burn.
Finally, she started my massage at 5:05 and I was getting dressed by 5:45. So much for 50 minutes. NOT WORTH $ 80. no way, never again.

I’ve been going to the Day Spa in Edina for over 8 years, I love getting facials and Greta is the BEST! The spa offers all organic, wonderful Eminence products that are absolutely fabulous! They always have great customer service and are super friendly and accommodating. Greta tailors the facial to whatever is going on with me and what my skin needs. I have tried facials at other spas, when traveling and always am disappointed in comparison.

First time being in a spa and maggie mad my first time splendid nice woman very friendly and helpful also professional as well I would definitely recommend this place mani pedi first time as a male and my wife loved it and got to keep my beautiful wife happy so whatever she likes must come back then I would highly recommended this place to a friend or family

I was in town and had some time to kill before my flight and they managed to squeeze me in for a manicure. The service was exceptional and the ladies working there helped me relax. A great place!

I’ve been searching for a decent nail salon in Minneapolis/​Edina since high school. Most of them are quick in & out places with $ 10 manicures, which is fine but not relaxing. Then there are places like Salon Montage that are really nice but the price is too high to go every week or 2.
The Day Spa is comfortable and they have nail technicians who do a great job — I’ve seen Tricia twice now!
And the price matches the atmosphere and quality of service. I believe it was about $ 80 for a mani/​pedi.

Ok, so you don’t get cucumber water and a cozy waiting room with The Day Spa, but what you do get is people who know what they are doing, great prices and they use fantastic products like Eminence and SkinCeuticals.

I came here for a gel French manicure and a regular French pedicure on a Monday evening at 5:30. Had I not had a gift card, I wouldn’t have spent the money on a spa experience. However, my visit was wonderful — the atmosphere is relaxing and quiet and my technician, Heidi, who just moved here from another state, was very nice to work with.
Upon arrival, I received a warm neck wrap and I was offered coffee, tea, or water. I suppose I’ve never been to a spa for a mani/​pedi before so this made my experience 10x better than any other mani/​pedi I’ve received.
Heidi did an AMAZING job on my toes, although the white tip on my big toe was significantly thicker than on the other toes, even though the nail length was equivalent. My hands though… they look amazing. This is the best gel French mani I’ve ever had — the white looks natural, the pink isn’t really PINK, and I had a broken nail that she patched up free of charge.
If there was any downside, it was that the gal at the front desk wasn’t friendly. She was clearly bored out of her mind, talking on the phone, and just wished she had more to do. She wasn’t rude to the clients, she just never smiled and didn’t seem happy to be there.
Still, I would go back — if at least for the manicure and definitely to see Heidi. She was fantastic!

I LOVE this spa! I have visited this spa over the years for both facials and massage. I have had the best in both! I always thought they should be in a different location because it always seemed so busy and noisy to me. Yet, they do their best to make your experience serene, and now that McDonalds has moved out of the area, I noticed the noise level/​traffic has improved. My most recent experience confirmed why I keep going back. I have been frustrated over my skin’s changes as I have gotten older and have been to the dermatologist who just prescribes more ointments and tells me I have a problem. Well, I know that already and I am tired of medications. I finally went to the Spa to ask their opinion. Melody, my esthetician, thoroughly diagnosed my condition, gave me a customized facial to kick start the rehabilitation process and directed me on product. I typically don’t buy product from these places because they are so expensive, but I was feeling desperate and everything she said made sense. I thought I would try it and within a week, I am a whole new person! My face is noticeably clearer and softer. Melody was gentle with extractions and communicated what she was doing and why, during the entire visit. I felt like she was extremely knowledgeable and for the first time, made an immediate follow-​up visit with her! If you don’t have problematic skin, try the organic facial. If you do, let them choose the method. I trust them completely!

I’ve only gotten facials at The Day Spa. They are incredibly reasonably priced — I’ve gotten the Skin Revitalizer Facial, which is $ 70 M-​Th, $ 75 F-​Sun. The products they use are great & you’ll leave absolutely glowing. Also, the extractions aren’t as painful as other spas I’ve been to.
Since it’s in a strip mall, there is ample free parking.

I had a spa day last weekend at The Day Spa… Massage, facial, pedicure, manicure, and makeup touch-​up. I was so excited for it, but after reading the reviews on Unilocal,lowered my expectations. My experience wasn’t as bad as some of the things others have experienced; however, it wasn’t outstanding either.
When starting the massage, I told the massage therapist that I wanted a full-​body massage but had tension in my back that I wanted to get worked out too. While the massage was definitely relaxing (aside from the very uncomfortable bed), she didn’t attempt to get a single knot out of my back. In addition, the room I was in made me feel like I was in a pool due to the floor to ceiling tile. I left the massage feeling like I’d need another one soon (somewhere else). Not ideal.
My facial was awesome. Greta was my esthetician and she did a great job. She was super nice and informative. The extractions weren’t painful, and the facial as a whole was really relaxing. My skin was and still is glowing. I would definitely go back for another facial with Greta.
My pedicure and manicure were also great. My toes & nails look fantastic!
The makeup touch up should be removed from the package all together. The woman doing the makeup used to do make up for TV commercials and it was very obvious once my makeup was complete. I had so much makeup caked on my face, I felt like I was ready for a Broadway show. Once I got to my car, I ferociously started to wipe off the makeup with napkins, but it was still caked on. I was disappointed that after getting such a great facial, they would such a dense makeup application. If that makeup application doesn’t clog my pores, I don’t know what will.
Overall, the spa day was good (much better than not having one at all!), but I would recommend that anyone getting this package opt out of the makeup application.
{{I agree with Greta on the size of the lockers — they are TINY. I had to empty the contents of my purse and stack them on top of my purse in order for everything to fit into the locker because it is so skinny.}}

Last week I was in Minneapolis to attend my niece’s confirmation and also because my brother was throwing my sister-​in-​law a surprise 40^th birthday party. In order to get her out of the house, my brother sent the two of us to the spa for the whole nine yards (mani, pedi, massage & facial!). It was a hard job, but SOMEBODY had to do it. ;)
Anyway, I had never had a professional massage before, so I don’t really have anything to compare it to, but it wasn’t really what I was expecting. I was hoping that I’d feel the effects of the massage afterward and maybe for a day or two after, but I didn’t. It was quite relaxing, but it just felt like the lady was rubbing oil and lotion on me. Being an amateur, I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to ask her to use more pressure, so I didn’t. It wasn’t bad, though, so I’m not complaining (I also didn’t pay for it, so DEFINITELY not complaining).
The facial I got was awesome. The esthetician did a fabulous job. My skin is still glowing. I don’t like when they’re too forceful about cleaning out your pores, and she did the job without causing any pain. I liked the products she used on my face.
The best part of our whole day was the mani/​pedi. The lady who did mine was named Gwen, and she did a great job, particularly on my pedicure. I’ve never had a pedicure before because I was embarassed for anyone to see my busted-​ass feet (calluses, cracked heels, etc.) Well I convinced myself that mine couldn’t be the worst they’ve seen, so I sucked it up and did it, and I am soooo glad I did. My feet and toes never looked so good. It was a fabulous experience. Now I’m gonna go get a pedicure regularly.
The spa is located in a strip mall. The actual treatment rooms aren’t that great. They made an effort to make them as Zen-​like as they could I guess, with low lighting and relaxing music, but it still felt like I was getting a massage in someone’s office. You can hear everything that goes on right outside the door. I also felt a little awkward because you walk around the place in your robe, which is fine, but you have to walk past people who aren’t even there getting anything done. I think I walked past someone’s boyfriend on my way to the locker room after my facial. That wasn’t cool. And they took us out to the front by the reception desk in our robes to show us where to choose our nail polish color.
My sis-​in-​law also wanted me to mention that they need bigger lockers!
So, although it wasn’t THE most amazing spa experience ever, I would definitely go back if I was in the area, especially for another pedicure with Gwen!
