Super cute pet supply store. The prices are a little higher, but the service and selection make up for it.

This pet store is the absolute BEST place to go shopping for your cat or dog. Heather, the manager, and her team are some of the most knowledgable people I have ever met when it comes to caring for your pet. Their staff offers training classes for puppies (and older dogs too!) all of the time, so it’s easy to find one throughout the year that fits your schedule. They are excellent trainers for the dogs (as well as the parents).
Their staff always remembers us and our dogs every time we come in, and make us feel right at home. They also have a great loyalty rewards program to help you save some bucks after visiting multiple times (and believe me, you’ll keep going back). Their selection of quality pet foods is great, especially Sojos, which is made right here in Minneapolis (Heather turned us on to it and we recommend it to every dog parent we know). We have moved all over Minneapolis in the last few years and we always make the trek to their shop, no matter the neighborhood we are currently residing. And now they offer delivery too! So great.

We recently moved back to Minneapolis and needed a new food for one of our dogs. We found this place on a Google search and couldn’t be happier. The owners were amazing, they took us through the store and made awesome recommendations on natural, locally sourced pet food. We choose a new option and they sent us home with flavor samples to make sure our dog was happy with the new option.
They have two cute cats and a wealth of knowledge for many local pet resources! We found our new pet store home!

Whenever we go out of town, we always bring our fur babies back home a gift. They are a bit spoiled. So, I used Unilocal to try to locate a pet store. We like to find independent stores — not big box stores.
They were having a special that day with an Easter egg hunt — my daughter quickly found an egg that had a discount inside. They also had sample bags of cat food — tons of selections — which my cats LOVED!!! We bought them some canned wet food, a little bag of catnip and a catnip toy which they have all licked on and enjoyed immensely.
Plus, I LOVED the kitties that roamed around the store. I love cats and it was so comfortable to browse and be able to bend down and pet a little feline that wanted to make friends.
I would definitely make it a point to stop by and visit again when we’re visiting the area.

This is the only store we go to for our pet (cat) supplies!
— Great selection of cat food/​supplies/​toys. They have so many healthy and natural brands!
— The owners/​staff are incredible! Very knowledgeable and helpful. We purchased a large PussyWood cat tree a while back, and they delivered it to our home! Doesn’t get better than that.
— They’re very involved and invested in the community, hosting adoption events and clinics.
The ONLY thing I would change is their logo, to get something a bit cleaner and design-​centered. I think it would help them stand out even more.

I wish I lived closer to this store so I could go more often.
They offer a wide variety of products, and are very knowledgeable about all things pet.
They are always glad to see their customers, and they have many activities for owners and pets.
When I lost my cat last fall, I got a hug and sympathy from them. Another pet supply store owner might have just thought about the loss of sales that might mean to them. Urban Tails Pet Supply is truly a community business.

The selection of dog food is really nice, but there isn’t a very large selection of toys and treats. I came in for a brush, and the woman there was kind of confrontational. I just needed a temporary brush because I had forgotten mine at my family’s and was waiting for them to come in the mail, so the woman goes into detail about how I shouldn’t use the types of brushes I have for various reasons… which made no sense. Then when I asked if they had a certain kind of treat, she again went into detail about how these treats are outdated and can’t be found anywhere. I then went to Target and found the treats, and I found them again at Petco. It was a very awkward visit, and maybe she was having an off day, but it came across as she was trying to call me a bad owner for owning a Furminator and using a Kong product that they don’t sell at their store. It really made no sense.

The owners are wonderful, my cat loves everything I buy from there! Great products, great customer service!

was visiting MN with my pups. got the raw dog food they needed and some other goodies. Store and employees were nice to work with.

Great, friendly staff. They had lots of natural dog treats. Didn’t have Science Diet wet puppy food or any clothes small enough for my little 2 pound Yorkie. Other then that, a very convenient pet store;-)

The staff is incredible! They genuinely care about dogs (and cats, and people) and it shows! My dog has dry skin and I asked for a recommendation and the woman who helped was so knowledgable! Her advice saved us a costly vet visit and my dog is no longer uncomfortable! They always remember my dogs and give them plenty of treats (and even try different treats for my picky boy).
The selection is fantastic as well. We have bought two beautiful collars there that we get compliments on all the time. I also bought a Canada Pooch sweatshirt for my dog that is so cute and warm! They carry our food brand (NutriSource), and we have never left there with only what we came there for– we always find fun extras to take home.
So grateful this amazing store is in our neighborhood (they also do adoption events!!)!

This month consists of a several huge life events: moving in with the boo, working on a big project for my job, and adopting a rescue dog named Cranberry! And more about the pup, my girlfriend has wanted a four-​legged friend since F-​O-​R-​E-​V-​E-​R. I’ve never seen her this excited over anything…
My girlfriend’s birthday occurred yesterday, and while she was at work, I searched for the perfect gift. Massage? Did it last year. Gift card to a cute boutique? I would probably mess that up. A pair of tickets to Hawaii? I don’t have that money…
Then it hit me. The perfect gift would somehow involve Cranberry.
I wandered over to Urban Tails Pet Supply, hoping that they could help. Upon stepping inside, I found myself greeted by two energetic and friendly ladies. I explained to them my I-need-a-gift-for-my-girlfriend’s-birthday-and-we’re-getting-a-dog situation, and they immediately suggested that I purchase a Legitimutt cranberry colored (of course) leather collar paired with a dog tag engraving. I perused through their selection and decided upon the bone shaped one with pink and purple hearts and the words, «I’m Adopted» on front. (Cue «awwws.») What’s even more awesome is that Legitimutt is a USA brand. (Cue «U.S.A.» chants.) So. Much. Genius.
One would think that the awesomeness would stop there, but no! One of the women –I think the co-​owner– loved the story so much that she took it upon herself to wrap the collar and tag in a pink base paper with white polka dots and attach a velvet heart sign (with bordered heart cutouts) that read «Happy Birthday.» She even drew on two adorable paws! Everything came to bit over $ 40, which I thought was very reasonable.
Once my girlfriend arrived home from work, I had the summer flowers, happy birthday card, decadent sweets, and doggy gift all arranged on the coffee table. My girlfriend immediately lunged her hands towards the polka-​dot hotness, carefully unwrapped it, and started crying once she heard the jingle of the tags and saw the whole collar. She told me it was the «best birthday gift everrrrr.» (+100 Boyfriend Points. #levelup) Then I hugged her for a really long time, while my shirt go soaked. Yeah. lol.
Thanks, Urban Tails! I’ll visit you again, soon, for dog training. How could I not support this awesome business that loves its customers?

I went to Urban Tails to get my cat some new toys. I believe it was the owners that helped me, they were amazing! Great customer service, knew a lot about their products/​merchandise. My cat loves her new toys and treats. Highly recommended. I encourage all my friends to support small business & Urban Tails is the place to go for your pets!

Very friendly, helpful folks. Went In there to brows and find some chewable’s for my Basset Hound. I saw that there was plenty to choose from and at a fair price too. Got some solid advice and I will be back. I highly recommend!

A few weeks ago I asked Urban Tails to start carrying my favorite brand of cat litter, which they happily agreed to. Today, when I went in to pick up a box of litter, the staff at the front desk asked if I was walking and offered to drop the litter off at my house so I wouldn’t have to carry it home. An hour later, it showed up on my doorstep. Every time I’ve shopped here, the staff has gone above and beyond for me, but delivering my litter within the hour?! I can’t thank them enough!
I love this place!!!

This place replaced the ridiculously incompetent Urbanimal, and I am very pleasantly surprised. They’ve managed to steal back the majority of my business from Chuck and Don’s (who are awesome, but a bit of a trek for me).
They’ve got very friendly and knowledgeable staff. The guy who helped me was quirky and lovely to deal with. There were a couple of kittens having a play while I was there. Adorbs. Huge selection of quality food, which saved my ass when my own feline princess decided she would eat NOTHING she regularly had before, little queen! Canned, raw, dry, freeze drying, dehydrated, you name it, they’ve got it. They even gave me a free sample of one of the foods.
I’ve used their delivery service as well. As someone with a messed up back and no car, the cat litter haul can be pretty sucky for me. Even their delivery service feels very personal.

I always enjoy coming here. The staff is very helpful and friendly and have a wide range of different dog foods and items. I purchased dog booties for my dog as he hates walking on the cold snow and ice. I purchased a pair at Chuck and Don’s the week before but they were too big; Urban Tail had more sizes which was great for my Chihuahua/​terrier mix. Something that I really appreciate is that they have adoption events in the back for the various rescues we have here in the Twin Cities. I definitely recommend coming here for the dog enthusiasts.

I love this place! They are always so helpful and their prices are very reasonable.
I feed my cat Solid Gold brand dry cat food. At Petco, they charge 15 dollars for the bag. At Urban Tails…12.99! I save on the gas, too! There is no reason for anyone in the neighborhood to drive to Richfield or NE to get their pet supplies.

PPR is hosting a rescue event today.
From what I saw today, this is a very welcoming pet friendly family owned business. The staff is very knowledgeable on the products they sell and own pets themselves.
This is exactly what I’m looking for in a pet supply store. They have a wide range of quality products, I purchased an ‘indestructible’ chew toy, but we shall see, my two pitties will put it to the test!
Final Word, support the locals, not because we should, but because this is a great store with great products and they support local rescue groups to boot!

This store recently opened in what used to be Urbanimal; however, the store is under new ownership. I stopped in during my weekly Wedge run and was really impressed!
The store is bright and welcoming and I was immediately greeted and asked if I needed help. They have a large assortment of high-​quality pet food and the prices are very reasonable. You might find slightly lower prices at a Petco or on Amazon but hey, I like supporting locally owned businesses and don’t mind paying a little extra to do so.
The reason I give it 5-​stars is because of the extraordinary customer service. I had an armful of cat food cans and one of the store workers, who also ended up being my cashier, rushed over and gave me a basket. He was honestly one of the best cashiers I’ve ever had — very attentive, friendly and chatted with me about my cat without it seeming forced.
Considering they just opened, they’re doing a fantastic job. I highly recommend checking it out, especially if you live in the Loring Park/​Lowry Hill/​Uptown area.
