I can eat almost anything but I found this food not edible. Maybe it was the lack of cutlery in the place.

Had a great lunch today at VD! I had the Korean BBQ bowl($ 10) with extra protein(add on $ 6). It came with steak, kimchi, and assorted vegetables on top of a small bed of rice. It was savory and well worth the price increase to get a larger portion. The location wasn’t too crowded around 11:45 before the typical lunch crowd, and I would definitely visit again because of its proximity to the downtown offices.

One of my favorite lunch spots, ANYWHERE!!! Located in the Skyway in downtown Minneapolis. I always get the Duck Confit Banh Mi. Some day, I’ll explore the rest of the menu, which looks equally appealing.

I like the korean bbq rice bowl and the duck confit banh mi here. The banh mi baguette was very fresh and crispy. I cried every time I eat here because of the spiciness(and I always request level 1⁄3 spiciness). It’s a good find in the skyway. I’d love to be back to try their other dishes soon.

I work in the Skyway and decided to try this place out. I got the chicken currita bowl. taste was decent, quality seemed good. My gripe was that at just under $ 10 after tax, this meal was overpriced by about $ 2. My bowl was almost all rice, lettuce and potato, with very little chicken or other expensive ingredient. The bowl was also a bit small. A $ 7.00 burrito bowl from Chipotle or Q’Doba leaves you much fuller and with more substance(meat and legumes). Probably won’t be back here again. I realize this place is «hip» at the moment and people are paying the money to eat here, but I doubt they’ll be in business for too long, or at the least their customer base will dissolve into a smaller subset if they don’t change their price structure.

Usually a line when I walk past here as there was today and it didn’t take more than 5m to place my order. Got the BBQ pork tacos and you can taste every ingredient that goes into the fusion. They also have some window-counter seating which is cool for a lil’ skyway watching. Definitely recommended.

A coworker and I split a few items for lunch, and I would go again for the pork egg rolls… they are that good. The chips and pineapple salsa was also good, in an interesting kind of way. The Dragon Melt was very, very average. There was nothing about it that I couldn’t get at any fast Mexican restaurant. A place with this much seating is a rarity in the skyway, so that is nice. The service is fast and friendly. Additional star given for the egg rolls ;)

Another delicious Skyway lunch adventure. After slipping in a random puddle in the Baker builiding skyway hallway :(, I limped into Vellee for a lunch and ordered a Mojo Sandwich. I thought the bread ratio was high, but then I didn’t need a bag of chips to go with my sandwich! It was good, and I will be back.

When they first opened a coworker and I ventured into Velee in the skyway after loving their food truck selection. We both got the Korean BBQ burrito and weren’t disappointed. On my second trip to Velee I tried the Chicken Currito(chicken curry burrito) and really liked it! The flavors and texture were strong but rich and juicy. I loved the Velee rolls(small fried port egg rolls) and could have had more of those! The prices are pretty consistent with other skyway options — our lunch was $ 27 for two entrees, a small bag of Egg Rolls and a can of San Pellegrini. The ingredients seem higher quality than most, though they’re really simple. To go from four to five stars Id love to see an option to upgrade to brown rice instead of basic white rice or to a whole grain tortilla instead of just white flour one. Overall, slightly simplistic for the price but definitely delicious and somewhere I’ll become a regular at based on flavor alone!

Sooooo delicious. The burritos and bowls are so flavorful and super spicy! Way better than the stuff at world street kitchen. During lunch the lines are super long but they’re efficient and you get your food in no time.

I’ve been here a few times and every time, it’s delicious. I usually get one of the burritos and I’ve had the beef and tofu kind. Sometimes they can add too much rice but normally the ingredients are very well balanced. The lines can get very long but it goes quickly and they have a nice seating area for hose waiting. I usually get 2 – 3 kicks and add siracha sauce after so it’s no where near ‘Midwest spicy’. If you’re a no spice is nice person don’t get any kicks. I’ve never had something I didn’t like here so just start trying their menu.

The service was super friendly and mega fast. Prices were average. The Korean BBQ bowl was awesome. Kinda going for a WSK kind of thing meets Chipotle. The chairs are springy. Nice a people watching spot. Very good stuff!

I had the Spicy Thai Tofu Curry yesterday in the Minneapolis Skyway. It was not only one of the best Curry meals I’ve had in memory, but a great value and I’ll be going back for more. I had it kicked up one notch and it had just the right amount of spice to be a flavorful heat without impacting the flavor. This is well worth a try.

Incredible. Had their chicken curry burrito with 2 kicks(but spicier). Interesting/delicious Asian/Mexican fusion. I highly recommend. Their staff is fun, polite, and upbeat as well. I’ll be back tomorrow haha.

Duck Confit Banh-Mi! On my top 10 list of best sandwiches I’ve ever had the pleasure of consuming. I get it with 2 kicks(Vellee spice scale) which leaves me with a slight forehead sweat for a few minutes afterward. Most would probably rather have 1 kick or none however. Going to the new Vellee in the skyway has become a once a week ritual for me that I look forward to more than anywhere else. The bowls here are also delicious, the rolls are ok for me and the fish tacos are pretty good but nothing really beats the banh-mi IMO.

The Korean BBQ in a bowl is to die for, and even if the line seems long at lunchtime, it moves quickly.

As a long-time Vellee Deli food truck fan, and even longer Minneapolis skyway lunch diner, I’m clearly a target customer for the new Vellee Deli restaurant. So how well have they made the transition to brick-and-mortar in my opinion? Flawlessly. In fact its even better than that. The line moves quicker, the food comes out faster, and the quality has perhaps stepped up a notch from their food truck days. What’s more there are ample seating options, making this just as suitable to dine-in as to take out. If you’re willing to count the cozy window area stools(and why would you not), I have yet to see all the seats taken on my several visits to the restaurant. That’s uncommon for such a busy lunch spot! The theme of the food here is Asian & Mexican fusion. That’s how you get things like curried chicken in a burrito, or Korean barbecued pork in a taco. But sometimes the fusion is more pan-Asian, like the«Mojo,» a delicious Hmong-style sausage with papaya on a banh-mi-style bun. Longtime truck favorites like their Korean bbq banh-mi, red curry chicken«currito,» fish tacos, the quesadilla-like«dragon melt,» and the ever popular«vellee roll» eggrolls remain on the menu. A couple of additional items — their new duck confit banh-mi, and a new pineapple salsa — expand the menu ever so slightly. I’m hoping we see more new offerings of this sort in the future, because both are hits. In any case, as the long lines of eager customers have always attested, Vellee Deli was one of the top food trucks in downtown Minneapolis and now it’s one of the best skyway lunch destinations.

Two words: Tofu Burrito. This 5-star review is based on five trips to Vellee Deli in the past month for their Tofu burrito. Exclusively. It’s the best lunch burrito in downtown Minneapolis. It’s a magic combination of Thai curry sauce, tofu, peppers, mushrooms, lettuce and rice. It also include’s Vellee’s ‘zing sauce.’ I’m admittedly embarrassed to only know the flavor of one menu item at Vellee. When I walk to to Vellee for lunch, I ALWAYS tell myself that I’m going to try other menu items such as their Bahn Mi sandwich or fish tacos — but when I get up to the counter, all I can say is «TOFUBURRITO!» and«TWOKICKS»(for added zing sauce.) I hope to work on my Tofu Burrito affliction… and explore other menu options at Vellee… but I may have to go through many more burritos before I achieve success. I have a high tolerance. If I succeed, I’ll update my review. In the meantime… have you tried their Tofu Burrito?

I work very close to the new Vellee Deli brick and mortar location and decided to try it out. I have never visited the food truck so I didn’t know what to expect. I decided to try the fish tacos and oh my heavens these were SOOO good. I got a kick level 1 for some added spice– 1 was enough and almost too spicy(I like things relatively spicy too). Tons of flavor and crunch with the cabbage. I will definitely be back.

There’s always a long line at their store front location, so I thought I’d give it a try to see what the fuss is about. My first time there was decent, I had the Korean BBQ burrito. The short ribs were tender and delicious. The kim chi was just ok, and the rice was a bit undercooked. My second visit I had the chicken curry currito bowl with 2 kicks. Wow. Amazing. My third visit I tried getting the Korean BBQ bowl instead of the burrito. Much better! The rice was well cooked, and it was more balanced without the tortilla. My most recent visit I had the BBQ banh mi. It was good, but I’m comparing it to placed in St. Paul that are more versed in that fare, and in that respect, its on par but doesn’t rise above that competition. Still worth a try if you haven’t. I recommend two kicks, plus a bit of Sriracha on it. I’m impressed, and I get now why there’s always a line here. Highly recommend, just prepare for a 10 minute wait or longer if you hit peak hours.

Waited to long, screwed up my order, and was unimpressed with the food. Skyway places need to be quick, good, and be a good value. My experience was none of these. Ordered a dragon quesadilla and the lady said it would be about 3 minute wait. I waited around 15 minutes. Then the guy at the window says sorry about the wait. 3 minutes later(dramatic pause) my food is in the window set up for dine in instead of carryout. Finally get my food and start walking to the office. I can forgive a hopefully one time bad service if the food is good. It was only slightly better than a chicken quesadilla from Taco bell… What’s sad is that their menu looks so good and now I won’t be going back to try anything else.

I’ve never experienced the food truck so I came into the store as a total first timer. VD(haha) is still new so there’s still quite a line for lunch. I arrived at around 11:40 and had about a 20 minute wait in line. Thank you, time waster instagram. One of their registers was out of order so take that anomaly into account. The line was moving quickly given that. Good options to order. Decided to go with the Korean BBQ burrito. Short rib, kimchi, rice, romaine & salsa roja. $ 10. Got it with 1 kick(0 – 3 kicks of extra spice). Ordered. Came up quick. Friendly people on both sides. Let’s eat. Wasn’t very spicy to start. That spice grew into a nice lingering mild heat. Probably wouldn’t want to go more than a 2 for my tastes. Didn’t really get much kimchi flavor going on. My biggest complaint was it seemed I could never get a perfect bite. It was either mostly meat or rice. Needs a quick mix before that burrito is wrapped up. But you know what, this was still a damn tasty burrito that I liked more as I ate more. I would choose this over some of the other popular burrito options. Will be back to try more on the menu.

Vellee Deli is now open in the skyway(where the old Taco Bell was). Food is just as great as it was at the truck. The menu is almost the same. There is now seating space available and a soda fountain. I would go there everyday of the week but the lines are too long, 20 to 25 minutes wait on an average for you get the food. Suggestion: You guys should have an online ordering system so that I can order, pay and just pick the food up and avoid the line. If not atleast have both the cash registers working(currently only one cash register works)

The wait is over for the restaurant location of the popular food truck Vellee Deli! Yesterday was their soft opening to the public and it could not have been any more impressive. Joyce and Will have created the most amazing restaurant that matches their style and stays true to their origins. The space is innovative and convenient for the lunch crowd. The line moves fast and food is ready for pick up at the window in record time. They have lots of space to sit, either with a group or at a counter solo. This will be the best stop for lunch in the skyways! Vellee Deli has the same menu as the food truck, with a handful more additions. The quality of food is just as good as it has always been. Maybe even better! Just know that I consider a trip to Vellee without an order of the vellee rolls(egg rolls) is a waste. No matter how full I already am, I WILL finish those rolls. Congrats to Joyce, Will, and their long time employees! They treat their customers like family and deserve the success!

I crossed an item off my bucketlist! It was to eat at a food truck, more specifically at Vellee Deli, and even more specific, the Korean BBQ Burrito after Ms. Annie D recommended it. I had the Korean BBQ burrito and my mom had the pork tacos. To be honest, my mom’s tacos were much more enjoyable than my burrito. The pork was flavorful and the topping were delish! The Korean BBQ burrito was a bit of a disappointment :(The burrito was huge! It had Korean marinated beef, kimchi(YES!), lettuce, and rice. I found the whole thing flavorless. The beef had very little to no flavor to it, and I think working on that marinade would make a big difference. Also I think it would taste SOMUCH better if they put more of a variety of things in the burrito. Even bean sprouts would be good. OR my favorite Korean condiment, SSAMJANG! Vellee Deli, you know what’s up. I hope you read this. All in all, Vellee Deli has other delicious treats I’d go back to try. Staff was super friendly, and despite the long line, it moves very quickly. I hope you read this. SSAMJANGJUSAYO!

I am all about food trucks and when I heard there was a Korean Fusion one just 3 blocks from work, I was on it! They had a great menu with burritos, bahn mi sandwiches and quesadillas! I had the Korean Short rib bowl with kimchi and 2 kicks(kicks are the thai chilli pepper spices you can add). I LOVE spicy food and 2 kicks was really great and enjoyable! I highly recommend this place for lunch and the service is so quick and they are so nice!
