Zakia Deli

The food isn’t very fresh. The servers weren’t very friendly either. They have a good selection but I’ve had much better Middle Eastern cuisine in the Twin Cities. The place isn’t well kept. I don’t think I’ll go back.

Falafel plate was fantastic. Here in MN I’m used to plain falafel, but the plate comes dressed and with veggies. I recommend the Zakia salad for a side, but there are a ton of options. Service was quick too; nice for grabbing dinner on the way home from work. Will definitely come back again.

Great Mideast cuisine. Always fresh, and they change it from day to day. I work as a vendor with the folks across the street and in their own lot so the convenience is incredible. Friendly folks and a fair price. A little cozy for more than a couple friends.

Everything was delicious. Kibbi, kofta seasoned just a bit different, in a good way, from other mid-​east restaurants. Nice selections of salads. I liked the spinach feta & tabouli. Lemonade was yummy. Tasted like they used calamansi lemons which are more fragrant than the usual kind. I didn’t try any sweets tho they had a nice selection. Clean, pleasant service, nice restrooms! (that tells me a lot about a restaurant.) Tho its a deli there is plenty of seating.

Tasty, fresh, and reasonably priced carry-​out order at lunch.

I live down the block and have eaten here many times, and it’s unfortunate that the customer service is hit or miss. I worked in restaurants for years after college so understand an «off» night. But after three rude and uninviting interactions, would recommend you find elsewhere to spend your money. As shocking as the review from Moshe Y is, I am not surprised.
Friday night walk in at 7:20 (closes at 8) to order a few items after finishing a hellish work week. Counter girl (who is usually quite pleasant) whispers to line cook something… who stares me down like I’ve wronged him in another life. I’m finishing my order with another person… and line cook and girl move over behind the half wall to continue… staring…talking…staring. When you’re the only patron in the restaurant, not hard to figure something is up. Figured he broke down his station too soon and my order messed that up.
I’m not a fussy eater and I could’ve easily just found something else that was less «intrusive»…just say so… no big deal.
Cancelled my order and walked out and will not go back. Sucks because I love Mom & Pop type places and want to support local business, especially one that is only a block away.
Like I said, not the first interaction like this… take your business to the many other restaurants in the area instead.

Fresh Mediterranean food with plenty of vegetarian options. Their tabouleh is the best!

If there’s one thing I can’t stand is poor customer service. Calling your customer an ASS in a foreign language as you take their money is completely unacceptable. You shouldn’t assume people don’t speak your language cause they look like a California white guy. I wonder how many other customers get the same treatment and don’t realize it. You should be ashamed of yourself! I can’t believe things like this still go on. Furthermore, if you can’t answer a few questions from an ignorant customer than you shouldn’t be in a customer oriented space. I hope people read this and decide to take there money elsewhere.

Excellent middle eastern/​Greek food. A giant serving for $ 10.55, the daily special. Come hungry as a lumberjack and enjoy the feast. Has a good array of salads and daily specials. Highly recommended

This place deserves five stars simply because of their amazing customer service. While I was trying to decide what side to get, the owner (I’m guessing) asked me if I wanted to sample anything. I only sampled two salads (both were delicious) but I think he probably would have let me sample everything. He was ridiculously nice. I ended up getting Cabbage rolls with hummus and the Lebanese salad. It was all tasty.
My boyfriend had the BEEF LAMB GYRO. He described it as, «Juicy. Tender. Tasted sooooo good. Possibly best I’ve ever had.»
Definitely try the BAKLAVA. It’s not overpoweringly sweet as others I’ve tried and it has WALNUTS (yum) in it.
Now I’m going to go purge myself because my fat ass can barely walk.

Excellent Lebanese Deli. One of the best gyros I’ve ever had. This restaurant is family owned and operated and it shows in the cooking and preparation of their food

I really like Zakia. The owner and the staff are always nice — especially when I ask them what I should eat, or I let them decide what goes on my sandwhich. I’ll say, «Just put whatever you would put on it.» I get the Meatloaf sandwich (Tuesdays), Gyros Salad/​plate, Philly Cheesesteak, Hamburger, or Dave Basha. That last one is outstanding and served on Wednesdays.
So even if you aren’t interested in traditional Lebanese food — they have terrific ‘American’ Food.

We searched for falafel in Minneapolis and we visited this place based on Unilocal!reviews. Everything was fresh and delicious! The lamb and beef gyros are incredible and the spinach pie (not like Greek spanakopita but the Lebanese version) was great. We also took some fresh baked pita and roasted pepper hummus to go from their extensive deli case.
If you are in Minneapolis and looking for some authentic, unique and delicious middle eastern food. look no further!

One of my favorite places to grab lunch to go. The spinach pie is incredible. I opt for the lunch special and choosing from the variety of delicous sides may be the hardest part of your day! Friendly service and priced fair.

I’ve been to zakia twice in the past month. I have a lot of experience with take out food, their dishes travel well. The food is so delicious, i don’t feel bad after eating zakia’s dishes. All of my questions have always been answered and the service is always fantastic. They’ve won my heart. Their Philly cheese steak sandwich is so good, it will make you stupid.

This place gets an A+ for service and food quality. I had the grilled chicken sandwich on their homade bun, with a side of stuffed grapeleaves and a quinoa salad. They even threw in a free bag of crispy pitas.
Wonderful restaurant, best 10 bucks i spent all week!

Zakia — the «other» Lebanese deli in town.
They have daily specials in their steam table — and let me say that their baked chicken is excellent. Moist, tender and full of flavor, if the baked chicken is available, get it.
There is a refrigerated case near the register that is loaded down with cold salads, falafel, stuffed grape leaves and stuffed cabbage rolls. The items we were used to from the other deli that were served hot were served cold here and though they heated some of them up they didn’t seem enthusiastic about it and none were as good. The items unique to Zakia, the chicken salad, feta pasta salad and the like are very good.
Hands down — the best tabouli in town. Plenty of tomatoes, no shortage of fresh lemon juice and well seasoned. Do not pass up on tabouli.
Large portions of the hot mains and generous servings make this place easy on the wallet.

As a former U of M student, I have driven past Zakia Deli countless times. Shame on me for not stopping in sooner! I finally decided to grab lunch here yesterday since I wanted to try a new place. Their falafel was great (bonus points for having banana peppers) and very inexpensive.
I had intended to eat there, but it is pretty small and they were clearly on their lunch rush, so I got mine to go. Now that I think about it, it took me maybe 5 minutes to order and get my food. They are very quick! Definitely going to stop by Zakia Deli again when I have my random cravings for middle eastern cuisine.

I’m known between my buddies for my appetite rather than my personality. I’d sweep out a whole buffet and still look for desserts and drinks.
Surprisingly, this is one affordable deli that could get me filled (that’s saying something) and satisfy my taste as well! Great food, quality, variety and quantity.
I got myself a daily entrée of gyro lamb with rice and veggies and baked potatoes with tahini and salad, all for an amazing 9 $.
Amazing place, instant service, a bit crowded but very satisfying nonetheless.
They should be expecting me back anytime soon.
