History

Established in 1950.

Dr. Holcomb and Dr. Sheldon started the dental practice in the 1950s in downtown Hopkins. Dr. Ron Axel joined the practice in the 1970s and in the late seventies the practice was moved to Minnetonka where it is currently located on Minnetonka Mills Rd. Dr. Tim Bergstedt joined the practice in 1980 and retired 2015. Dr. Karlene Johnson joined in 1995. Dr. Betsy Phillips joined in 2005. Tonka Smiles is currently owned by Dr. Johnson, and Dr. Phillips.

Dr. Betsy Phillips believes that every patient deserves personalized, comprehensive, compassionate, high quality dental care. She is committed to continuing her dental education. Her areas of interest are in Cosmetic, Esthetic, Laser, Implant, and Sedation Dentistry.

Dr. Karlene Johnson is committed to providing the utmost dental care for her patients. By attending multiple courses at the Frank Spears Institute of Cosmetic Dentistry, Karlene is trained in the latest advanced cosmetic techniques to enhance your smile.
