Ocean Reef Resort Properties

Stayed in «Skinny Dippin» property in Destin, FL from 9÷5÷2015−9÷7÷2015. The stay was wonderful. Expected a longer stroll to beach and was surprised to see a short trail that leads to beach. Location is wonderful and conveniently to grocery stores, outlet mall, and other attractions. Check-​in and checkout was very convenient. My husband and I visit Destin annually and this was one of the best stays thus far. We have found a new rental property in Destin, Fl. See you next year. Brenda/​Michael Aguillard

We had a wonderful 7 day stay at Carribean Dunes in Destin! The condo was clean, well stocked and decorated beautifully. The beach was a super short walk away and the on site pool and hot tub was great! We can’t wait to visit again!

Rent at YOUR OWN RISK!!! We’ve been coming to Sandestin for several years and have used Ocean Reef Resort in the past. We thought we would have had the same experience, but it was an absolute nightmare. The Beachwalk condo was in deplorable condition. There were so many issues with this place including the smell that they never got rid of even after the «cleaning.» The floors and mats were filthy, dishes and pans had dried food, broken blinds, missing sink fixtures, broken sleeper sofa, last but not least … the oversize bed frame that protruded out by almost 2 ft with a metal bar (caused injuries).
I called the following morning after checking in and received sincere apologies from the employee and was assured that the issues would be addressed and that mgmt. would be notified immediately. The mgr., Todd, did call back shortly after the call but he seemed more perturbed than concerned about the problems and the condition of the condo. No apologies were made and I felt like I was the one trying to accommodate him and not the other way around. After brushing me off, he simply stated that he would look into it and get back with me. The arrangements were supposedly made with their contractors to clean, replace sleeper sofa with a roll away bed, make needed repairs. However, when we returned later that day, we discovered that the only thing these people did was to come back and clean the floors, mats, and counters. Our blood stained comforter was still on the bed and none of the the other dirty comforters and blankets had been replaced. Lock was still not working, bathroom fixture was not repaired, not enough soaps for the place, no replacement bedding, and it still smelled like cigarette smoke and nasty odor. I called Todd just in time before closing and stated the lack of work that was promised. He claimed the work order had been processed and was irritated with me. When I asked him what he planned on doing about the situation, he asked me why I should be compensated and what I expected from him. I was stunned because my family and I were the ones that were being inconvenienced and left without adequate beds, towels, blankets, etc. in a smelly condo. I was so upset with the way things had been handled that I told him to address the issues and let me know when he was ready to take care of them.
He never called me back after that while we were staying in Sandestin. We rented the condo for 8 days and not one call or email after speaking with him on day 2. We did get a rude awakening the following morning with an irate man banging on the front door yelling at my kids to open the door. The man never stated his purpose or offered any info. as to his identity to my kids. He kept trying to enter the condo with the code and kept banging until my kids came and got me. Thank goodness the bolt above the door was in working order. He finally stopped banging on the door when he saw me and said that he was sent by the property mgmt. and wasn’t sure what we needed. I explained to him all the issues and he said he would take care of the blankets and towels, but that the bed was not his responsibility and stated he would return with the supplies.
I called Ocean Reef to speak with Todd but he was not available. The individual that answered was not happy to hear about the problems that we were having and pretty much made it seem like it was all our fault and not theirs. I told him about the injuries that I had incurred because of the hidden metal frame and bar protruding from one of the twin beds and he didn’t want to hear any of the details. He was rude and kept trying to blame the issues on us and told me to tell Todd myself. I asked him to make sure that Todd was told about what took place and to call me. Todd didn’t call, but the guy did show up with few blankets and towels shortly after my call to the office. Later in the morning, another man showed up asking about a bed replacement or repair. Explained to him that we were supposed to get a roll away. He said he wasn’t aware of that, but would see about another mattress for the sleeper sofa. I asked him to have the office contact me prior to delivery. He said he would have the office call me. Several hours later, no call but there was a thin mattress left by the front door. We had no place to put the dilapidated sleeper sofa mattress and wasn’t sure whether we could throw it out so we got stuck with this eyesore for the duration of our stay. It was left in the living room by the television with all the crusty debris hanging from it.
Even after numerous calls to them, no one contacted me about any of our issues or concerns and Todd was never available. I did go to the Urgent Care clinic to get some first aid.
On day of check out, I spoke with Alex. He took responsibility and took action and requested inspection of the condo. I sent pics for proof. Alex followed up with apology and credit for 1 night. See pics

We rented SOUTHERN COMFORT HOUSE. for one week. Very run down house. 3 bathroom doors off hinges 3 closet doors off hinges. Patio furniture rotten ed wood and hazardous to sit in if you are over 200 pounds.
Regular appearances by roaches each day. The latest was one dropped from ceiling into bed with a guest. Nasty.
Nail heads on deck are raised so they catch little toes.
You would think Ocean reef would check over their properties a bit closer.
And still paying over $ 8,500 for the week.

I have rented from Ocean Reef many times in the past and have generally been pleased with the quality of rentals and the service. However my current experience has changed my opinion completely. I booked a 2 bdrm condo in Seagrove that boasted King, queen, queen sleeper, and «your open kitchen»; unit 2107 in Seagrove Highlands is a dank, dark basement with fresh cigarette smell and only queen beds. The Ocean Reef staff, while polite, are unable to offer me anything other than a blow up mattress and an air unit that is louder than a freight train. I will never rent from this management company again and recommend that others stay away. There are many other companies in this area that offer much better quality accommodations.

Our stay in Emerald Dunes 105 was absolutely fantastic. The location of the condo (beach side, directly adjacent to the beach access walkway from our back porch) was perfect for us. As always, the water was beautiful and the white powdery sand made it all the more gorgeous. We will be returning, and we when we do, we’ll be staying in the same unit and booking with Ocean Reef Resorts for sure!

The Ocean Reef staff were wonderful to work with all through the process. They explained everything when speaking with them & also sent emails with detailed instructions. The property was even better than we expected. The pictures don’t do it justice. We hope to return again soon. We will & have already highly recommended SUMMERHAVEN 4 & Ocean Reef to anyone we’ve talked with about it. Thank you all for making our stay even better than we hoped!

This was my family’s frst trip to Destin. We finally found a house that would suit the needs of the 11 members of our party and started the process of booking. I tend to be a Unilocal lurker, and base a lot of my choices on reviews, but rarely post reviews of my own. I tried looking everywhere for reviews for Ocean Reef and found very little. What I did find seemed to be rather negative. I went ahead with the booking for the house Banana Beach located in Miramar Beach. The booking process was easy, and was able to call and have my questions answered promptly. The house on arrival was very clean. The house does have some wear and tear, and could certainly use with some paint touch ups and probably an upgrade in bed linens, but overall I think my family was very pleased with our choice. It was centrally located to the beach and a grocery store which was hugely helpful for us. We had a bit of an issue with the sprinkler system spraying on my husband’s white truck everyday for 5 days, as the water has a high iron content and his door was stained orange and we could not get it to come off. I mention this only as a word of warning to anyone staying here. We had to leave unexpectedly one day early due to a family emergency and the Ocean Reef people resolved the issue even though we were back inTexas. My husband’s truck has been restored and I couldn’t be happier with their response. Outside of the unexpected end to our trip, we had a fantastic time and would certainly return to this property and potentially try out another property they represent.

Our group rented BEACH HOUSE near the Whale’s Tail. While the house layout is generally great, we were very disappointed in housekeeping, service from Ocean Reef Resorts and other issues.
The house was filthy upon 5 p.m. arrival. A rug was left on one bed, and all other beds were half-​way made. Sand was on furniture, chairs, tabletops, etc. Nothing had been swept. Microwave was filthy inside. Deck had not been cleaned up. Skittles were on one bedroom floor. Some doors and cabinets were so sticky and smudged with fingerprints and food that we cleaned them ourselves.
As it turned out, housekeeping showed up with pillowcases just as we were calling Ocean Reefs to complain, yet when she left, the beds looked like a child had been jumping on them. She was clearly not happy that we asked her to clean more. (Or else housekeepers are so overworked that they can’t finish all their houses in time.) Additionally, Beach House was infested with termites and we had to vacuum dead bodies every day. After dealing with this a few days, we called Ocean Reefs again. I’m pleased that they refunded a cleaning fee, but we had to ASK for some type of compensation.
We also had numerous problems with the TV. One night it would not come on at all; later it came back on by itself. The two master bedrooms have very uncomfortable A/​C. Air comes out only from under the sink — and it’s so strongly that it’s uncomfortable to stand in that spot. Vents can not be closed, so those rooms were freezing while the upper rooms were hot. (Renters should also be aware that the 3^rd level rooms have low ceilings and smell funny.)
Finally, I feel that I was misled by the reservationist because I specifically asked if this was a crowded, public-​access beach. She assured me that since this was a private home, we would not have many people near us. However, it’s right next to jetski/​parasail rentals, public parking and crowds. We would have picked another location if the reservationist had truthfully answered my questions. I wish I had looked at Google Earth before renting. Some people will love the location (lots of people watching and restaurants), but we prefer more privacy.
Finally, we completed Ocean Reefs’ survey, detailing these problems, and have not received a response yet. So. .. while they were very friendly on the phone and refunded our cleaning fee, I can’t say I’m all that impressed. This house has great potential if were better managed. We did enjoy having two kitchens and the big deck.

We rented Blu sky for a week, loved the neighborhood. House was big but very dirty! We found lots of hair in the bathroom drain, gum on the leather sofa, and cockroaches in the house. Ocean reef had really good customer service, but wouldn’t stay again because of hygiene.

We had a great time at the Perrywinkle Palms house. Even better than it looked in pictures. The house was beautiful with all the amenities you could want for a beach house. Ocean Reef was very easy to work with. The check-​in and check-​out process couldn’t have been easier. Thanks Ocean Reef!

From the moment we arrived we loved everything about the vacation property Morningstar. Ocean Reef offers a wonderful, relaxing vacation at Morningstar. MorningStar was fantastic. Our favorite part was the porch-​swing with a full-​size cushion on the 2^nd floor porch. The kitchen was well equipped and made it easy to cook each night we were there. Also, the pack-​n-​play came in very handy for one of the families with babies! The house was clean, the beds were comfortable and the views were amazing. (oh, and the beach was perfect)

This was our first vacation we have been abel to take in 6 years. I search for weeks to find the perfect place for us. I found a place called Ariel Dunes. I was to first say the place was just as nice as they showed on the web.
Our trouble started when we drove over 7 hours to get there. Check in was at 4pm but we were about 15mins early. We decided to go see if our room was ready as they have a self check in system. As soon as we walked on out condo it was trashed. No cleaning crew had even touched it,.
I called Ocean reef right away and the man I spoke with was a complete ass. After I tell him the room wasn’t even touch he goes on to tell me that I wasn’t supposed to check in till 4pm. I was trying to be nice but him being so rude made me angry. I’m one to be a believer in customer service. I tell him look its 10 till 4 and it wouldn’t of matter if I had came in 10min it would still have shit everywhere…
All he tells me is to just go for a walk on the beach or get something to eat and come back in two hours. After being in the car all we just wanted to get there and relax. Well my husband was very upset and called him back. He was rude even my husband. Just saying they were all book up and that he was going to send someone to clean it and we could just go in the room and hang out. Now why would we want to go in there when it was trashed. We asked him if he could let i know when the room was ready and he promised he would. We went to eat and after we were done still no call from the property office. After a long wait we just went back up and the room was ready. He didn’t even call us back.
The only other problem we had was they didn’t leave us pool passed and when we call the office again he acted like I was a dumb ass and couldn’t find them. Had me run all over the condo & I said look they are not here. Ok I’ll send someone with some for you. What a butt hole…
I know this place just works for the owner and the owner isn’t at fault how they treated us but we will never use this property office again. Check out is at 10am and if you know check in is at 4pm why wouldn’t of it been cleaned? Just bad service all around… Just beware of this place.

On my recent trip to Destin, we decided to rent a House near the beach instead of doing a hotel since we had a big group.
My review is of Titan’s Getaway, which is one of many different houses that this company owns.
This plan worked out perfect. The house said it would hold up to 14 people and we had 18 so we were iffy if it was going to work. But there was a wide variety of set ups from king size beds, to queens, to day beds, and even bunk beds. We were able to work it out so everyone had a sleeping situation and with the split it came out to be less than 30 bucks a person for 2 nights. You can’t beat that price!
The house itself was clean, it wasn’t the nicest house but it was close to the beach. Within a 10 minute walk and a couple minute drive. We were pretty loud but got no noise complaints so that was a plus.
Heads up the only thing they require is a 25 year old for the rental. This was my first time renting a house and it won’t be the last.
