History

Established in 2006.

The Residence Inn Sandestin is managed by Howard Hospitality and owned by the Howard Group, real estate development company specializing in premier commercial developments and upscale resort residential properties.

The hotel opened in April of 2006 and is a pet friendly, extended stay hote in Destin, Florida. The hotel completed a full renovation in December of 2013.

Recently, the hotel received Top awards at the Annual General Managers’ Conference in Washington D.C.; Diamond General Manager and Gold Hotel Award

My favorite hotel in Destin. The rooms are fabulous, like a mini suite with a full size kitchen. The location is great, I stay here when they have events at Baytowne Wharf or Grand Blvd and I don’t want to drive back home.
Best part is its pet friendly. I just wish the pet fee was cheaper, I haven’t brought my dog yet because it’s pricy.
Overall though, still my favorite place to stay!

Great hotel! Amazing hospitable staff with outstanding customer service. The rooms are spacious full kitchen. Great if you are staying in town for a couple of days. It is also close to the silver sands outlets, shopping area, and very close to the beach. You still have to drive a few minutes to the beach, but the shopping area and dinning areas near by makes up for that. They also offer complementary breakfast which was pretty delicious as well! The breakfast had variety of choices such as hot scrambled eggs, sausages, bagels, yogurt, waffles, oatmeal, cereal just to name a few. They also a small spa area outside with swimming pool deepest is five feet, a whirl pool, and a kiddie pool. Next to that they also have a small basketball court, inside they also have a gym area

Probably the most hospitable hotel I’ve ever been to. We got a great discount through bidding on Priceline, and were glad to have this hotel selected. Next to an amazing mall, and only a short drive to the beach!

I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. First, the hotel is in a convenient location as Dune Allen Beach is only about 4 miles away. The outlet mall is very close too and literally on the same street as the hotel and you can be there in minutes. Secondly, the hotel offers breakfast. I am not a fan of buffets so I grabbed packaged items, but they had a variety of options. On some weeknights they have dinner but I did not partake. Next, if you are a pet lover great, as they have rooms for guests with pets. I am not a pet person so that is less of a draw yet I know folks like to travel with pets. The rooms were clean and the staff was friendly enough. I spent most of my time outside the room, however it was nice to have the kitchenette en suite. I would recommend it!

Overall I was very pleased with this hotel and I like that it’s next to an upscale shopping and dining center (literally right down the road). Also co-located next to Village at Baytowne Warf (another shopping, dining area for tourists).
I was very impressed with cleanliness of the hotel and grounds; as others have also stated the staff is VERY friendly; although all I ever had in the morning was a banana and coffee, the breakfast buffet appeared to have a plethora of quality options.
My one tiny gripe was with my king size bed; middle of the bed literally sunk down. Mattress probably needs to be replaced and I relayed this to the staff. I didn’t request a room change, wasn’t a huge issue, but also not the most comfortable night (s) of sleep. Don’t let this deter you from staying here; this is a very nice hotel. Especially in a tourist, beach area where it can be costly to stay and dine out, this place has affordable rates and full kitchens. Can’t beat that.

This hotel is a great value. It’s proximity to the beaches of South Walton is amazing and you get a free beach parking pass to the nearby Sandestin Hilton. You’re also close to many dining and shopping options.
My room was clean and comfortable and it was so nice to have a full kitchen so I didn’t have to eat every meal out. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to save money while enjoying an awesome beach vacation.

What a value. I stayed here with my husband, sister, and brother-in-law over the Christmas holiday, and we shared a delightful 2-bedroom.
The first night had me somewhat scared, since we originally had a room facing Hwy 98… maybe I’m just too light a sleeper, but I could hear the road noise loud and clear all night. It didn’t seem to bother my sister or her husband, so it could just be that I’m sound-sensitive, but thankfully they switched our room without any issue to one facing Sandestin. They even gave us an apologetic bottle of wine for the inconvenience — a very nice gesture.
The room was very clean, and pretty spacious with a nice little living area, fire place, and kitchenette stocked with basic glasses and cooking utensils. Free wifi was icing on the cake.
The free breakfast offers quite the variety of food — eggs, sausage/bacon, hashbrowns, make-it-yourself waffles, yogurt, several cereals, oatmeal, pastries, bagles, etc, etc, etc. I’m weird when it comes to mass/buffet breakfast unless it’s really gourmet (it’s fair, that might make me a bad person or a snob, but I can’t help it), so I didn’t really take full advantage of the breakfast offering, but I can appreciate the availability of such a variety. Families with kids were eating it up (literally), so I was clearly odd-man out for not loving all the free food.
Overall, a delightful stay that was perfect to serve the purpose of being close to my family while still comfortable.

Great hotel and excellent breakfast. Convenient to all beaches, restaurants and shopping! Service is good. Nice value for families. It would be nice if they would add fruit and other healthy food to their menus. Unlike most Residence Inn’s, they would let their fresh fruit bowl go empty after around 8 am.

Great hotel and very good breakfast. Convenient to all beaches, restaurants and shopping complexes. Quiet and safe. Wonderful staff. Very neat and all facilities available. Microwave, stove and refrigerator plus all the utensils were in the room. Very neat and an awesome hotel.
