Sandestin Golf And Beach Resort

Stay was great until we purchased breakfast tickets on line with our reservation. We used them at Sunset Bay. Nowhere on line did it state that we would be limited to what we could order. Luckily I showed the waitress the coupon at the start of our meal, because I was told the cappuccino, hot chocolate and side of potatoes was not included that we had already ordered and I could not order anything with seafood. Very disappointed. Should up the price of the stupid coupon to include everything or just get rid of it.

The miniature golf course promoted by Groupon is absolutely the WORST! Don’t waste your money. They don’t clean it. Happy Thanksgiving!

Overpriced and disappointing experience. When booking on priceline they add on a «resort fee» so your bill is way higher than expected. This hardly meets the definition of a resort but merely several hotel buildings on a large site, so big and so inconvenient to leave that you are basically stuck there and have to eat in the restaurants there etc. There is no beach and you need to leave the resort and cross the road to the Hilton to get one. At night when walking outside it’s very poorly lit and three raccoons crossed the path right in front of us. A little scary. Definitely the worst «resort» we stayed in. Needs much more amenities, a closeby beach that’s easy to reach and more helpful staff.

Great resort with tons of choices for vacation rentals, activities and water fun.
Rented a 4.5 star in Prestwick for Christmas last year and actually lived in the resort for 2 years as well.
Only negative was renting in Heron Walk this Spring in unit 8999. Although a great location in the resort this outdated unit was dirty, had black mold issue, severely obsolete appliances and had an owner with a severe attitude issue. The rental management company apologized for his rudeness but we would not rent the unit again with so many to choose from.‘
Highly recommend the resort as a whole.

I would give 0 starts if I could. I’d rather stay at a motel 6. No room service no customer service. Dirty rooms. There are plenty of other places to stay. Forget this place would give 0 stars if I could. Rent a condo or stay at the Hilton. This place sucks. No room set ice and no room cleaning. This place is like a youth hostel for retards

If you stay here, realize that each room is an separately owned unit, so the quality of each room varies greatly. I stayed in a two bedroom suite a few weeks ago. We were staying for a conference. We had about 10 people in our suite and noticed 2 of the bar stools were broken — as in one of the three legs weren’t attached. We told the front desk and maintenance came the next day. They fixed one of the chairs and couldn’t fix the other chair, but they wouldn’t take the broken chair out of the room. As a lawyer, I was appalled that they would risk that liability. And then by the end of the next day, the ‘fixed’ chair was broken again. This was not the only incident of broken furniture I heard about from the conference attendees. What really grossed me out about staying here though was the mold growing in the shower. Also, if you don’t like papaya scented soaps and shampoos, bring your own. ALL of their soaps and toiletries smell like disgusting papaya. I had a massive headache the first time I mistakenly used the hand soap. If you like egg soup though, this is a great place for you to stay. I had what they alleged to be «eggs» one morning that was catered from the hotel for the conference, and the consistency was much closer to soup than to eggs because it was so watery and disgusting.

This resort is absolutely beautiful and with an excellent location. The resort is its own community with guarded access gates and plenty of acreage to explore. The beach here was clean but relatively crowded. The grounds were well maintained. The golf courses were challenging with well placed bunkers and more sparkling water than one could ask for. The stay and play package option they offer is great for anyone looking to enjoy both the beach and the links. The staff at the resort was magnificent. The shuttle bus drivers that will take you nearly anywhere in the resort were phenomenal. They were friendly, accommodating, and a pleasure to see each day. With the exception of one restaurant on site, the same aforementioned description also pertains to the gracious staff at the many shops and eateries on site. There was so much to do here that you won’t be able to fit it all in on one visit. From the live music and luaus to the beach bars and firework shows, you’ll enjoy most every aspect of your stay. I would highly recommend coming here for your next vacation, convention, or company golf outing.

For over $ 3k for 5 nights, this is a dump. The first sight we saw when opened the gate to to our condo was green slimy mold growing everywhere and broken siding and fence boards. Even worse when opening the door was the smell of stale urine. I swear the living room furniture was purchased at goodwill. Just horrible. For the amount of money charged, this room (Beachwalk #5100) is hideous. I will never ever ever ever stay here again. Other negatives are: it took about a half hour to check in. They cancelled my reservation and it took forever to reinstate it. Parking is a nightmare. I could go on but whyyyyyy?!

Great for family vacation! Not on the beach but access with the golf cart that was provided. The wharf was a big hit with the kids. Gated community with plenty to do. Short drive to any restaurant you can think of. Will definitely be back!

Resort itself is nice. It’s HUGE. Basically it’s it’s own little community. If u get here at night, be prepared to get lost and confused. So dark out when you are driving around trying to find your way. The plus side is there’s Baytown, has lots of activities for kids. So it is kid friendly here. The beach is across the street. So u can either drive there yourself or take the shutter which takes forever IMO. Beaches fill up quickly. $ 50 to rent a double seat near the beach. The beach here is beautiful, soft powdery sand. I personally would not come back to this resort.

Really a pretty and relaxing place… a week long visitor is treated nicely and left to relax and have a real vacation. We rented through Platinum Properties and everything is done electronically so it was effortless… although they were immediately responsive to anything we needed.
I live in a golf resort and will be suggesting our management visit here to figure how it is supposed to be done.
Golf courses were beautifully maintained and it was easy to obtain t-​times with really reasonable green’s fees.
We ended up going to public beaches simply because the entire Sandestin beach is covered with their own expensive rental cabanas so you can barely see the beach or find a place to sit through all their profit producing umbrellas… the public beaches are equally as nice and far less crowded.

Poorly run. 1 Security check point in order to get on property, but they are handing out Visitor slips to any and everybody. Good luck finding a parking spot they are all taken up by «Visitors». No washcloths towels and hand towels only. They call 16″ X 28″ a washcloth. Full length mirror? There is nice wall space in the entry for a one. No wifi just wired. Poor reception in rooms need to step out on patio to make calls or text. Never again.

We’ve stayed at the resort before and decided to upgrade to a grand sandestin room instead of bayside. Waking distance to Baytowne Wharf with little shops, bars and great selection of restaurants. We stayed 6 nights and found out when we called the front desk for towels that they do not do ANY housekeeping in your room and after the first day of complimentary towels, they charge $ 15/​set or expect u to do coin laundry on vacation.
Beautiful resort if u are there to enjoy the private beach or play golf. Clean, well kept pool. No lifeguard. Golf carts only for residents but you get complimentary bikes for a few hours each day and kayaking. Bait shop on site was out of bait? Couldn’t go fishing. Nice putt putt course for the kids. Beautiful scenery and lots to do on site.

This was our second stay here. I am downgrading my review based on customer service and the poor thought out logistics of this resort. On our last stay we had to sit in a hot parking lot and wait for my poor husband to get through long lines to check in just to be told it would be two hours till we could get in our room. This time they just plain lost our reservations. Now to the poor logistics. We where placed in a set of high rise condos with no help or luggage carts to bring all our family stuff to the 8^th floor. What they don’t tell you is these are private owned condos with no beach towels, no room service, no anything. Every time we have rented a condo we have known what to bring in advance. The room was clean and beautiful but after hauling all my kids stuff in I was just to mad to enjoy it. Now to beach access. We where told beachside– not even close. We walked across a 100 degree parking lot to an over crowded beach. This was the worst vacation. So disappointing. Not sure I will be back.

The Sandestin area is gorgeous, this is my first trip here. However the resort did not live up to its billing. The pool near the beach is open to the public, the rooms are a little dated and worn, and the services are not what you’d expect for the price. Probably good for a family but not a couple.
Next time I’d investigate a hotel like the nearby Hilton or renting a condo.

My review is mostly for the Bayside @ Sandestin. The room was decent. Kind of outdated and small. The bed is NOT a king sized bed. I’m not sure what it is. Bigger than a queen but smaller than a king. A prince maybe? The bathroom is TINY and you have to be a contortionist to get around it to get between the toilet and the shower. The door doesn’t shut all the way. The view of the bay is nice. The pool and gym are great. The resort as a whole is very nice and convenient. I would stay again if I get another good deal but not at full price.

Really nice complex — huge complex that requires a map. But there are lots of things to do and if you just wanted to park your car and use the amenities at the resort, this is a great place to do it.
Check in sucks. I know, a bit blunt, but apparently they do several conferences at the same time and everyone has to go though the same line for the entire complex.
The room was nice. Clean room and bathroom. Our door quit working at one point and maintenance had to replace the knob.
Parking sucked. Probably due to all of the conferences. But all in all the place was very nice with lots of nice amenities.

My b. f and I have been renting there for 6 months and was so disappointed how they handle things.
When we just moved in, I realized all my clothes are ruined by the washing mashine cause they put water hoses backward. All my delicate, cold wash items had been washed with very hot water so I can not wear them anymore.
The refrigerator making horrible sound, at night we woke up with that noise all the time. Guys from the building took a looked once but nothing hasn’t change afterwards.
Oh and when they change the pin code for the parking lot, we wouldn’t know til we try the pin at the entrance, Wondering and trying old pin number like 10 times and when finally went to the main building, they would say, ‘yah, we changed the pin code just today’. I mean, they do know our numbers and everything they can update, but just wouldn’t do it.
And the parking.
We rent 2 units, one is studio and the other is 1 bed room. From the Sandestin resort office we heard we could registered 3 cars that we have. But at the Elation building we live They are saying different thing and that we could only park ONE car out of whole 2 units!?! I mean isn’t this normal to think it would be OK to have 3 cars, since we have 2 units? One is studio (for one person) and one is 1 bed room (for a couple).
Finally, they put a warning stickers and called us to move the 3^rd car out. Oh well. as powerless tenants we had no choice but follow whatever they ordered to do.
It has nice, I mean, the nicest view I’ve ever lived for sure, but I won’t ever go back there by the people who runs there. My b.f. and I were thinking of buying a unit there but after this experience decided to look elsewhere. Period.

Reading the reviews below scared me! I’m serious, so hubby calmed me by having me read Tripadvisor reviews. I was to the point we almost didn’t reserve a condo on this property just by some of the reviews. (Gotta see for yourself, not just from a review)

(Hey, I’m one picky chick when it comes to where I stay away from my home) This resort has tons of condo’s and villas to rent from private owners. We reserved through Sandestin and they picked a perfect condo to fit our needs.
(Thank God this unit was well maintained) On a daily you could see the landscaping being maintained by workers throughout the property.
The Grounds are BEAUTIFUL! The BEACH, water so beautiful with blue shades dark/​light turquoise, the sand very nice whiteish gray. Our stay in a one bedroom had a PERFECT beach view and was very clean, everything worked as it should have. There was extra towels and toiletries below the sink under cabinet, extra sheets and pillows in closet. Included in our stay, there was free bike rental, kayaking and tennis. I took many pics to update so others can see how it was on my visit. 9÷3−9÷7
The condo had 2 LCD tv’s in the living area and bedroom with DVD players, Nice stainless steel side by side refrigerator with ice/​water. Granite Counters and a washer/​dryer. The guards At the gate keep others from coming on/​off the grounds without staying on the property.
The Baytown village has, restaurants, bars, ice cream/​candy shops to feed your hunger cravings. We only went to another broken egg,(very good) 4star elephant walk (brunch) 3star and Marlin Grill (4star)which we enjoyed, though it was pricey but really good food and excellent service. Nice date night spot.
If you want different places to eat, stores etc everything you need is a mile or less up the street. We had a rental car so we never used the tram On property for transportation. (Free)
During check out We were asked how our stay was. We told them exactly what this review says, maybe the bed will have new mattresses for the next guest. :)
It was so relaxing, I didn’t want to leave. If headed back to the area, I definitely will stay on the private property here again.
Ps. Right now it’s cheaper during off season, we would have saved a good $ 700 Had we waited 1week. Oh well, its all good. Still a awesome 4nights.

For the amount this place charges, one would expect better customer service. The lobby to our hotel was being renovated/​or built? and the place smelled like carpet adhesive and gave me a headache. Our apt smelled like it too. Thankfully the weather was nice and I kept the windows open to get rid of the strong smell.
The customer service was surprisingly bad. When housekeeping came by I asked the woman for more towels. She said go to the front desk at the grand sandestin (I was staying several buildings over). When I went to the concierge. They said «sorry we are fresh out» and I told them what housekeeping told me. They said you should go back and get towels from her. So I walked back to my room and got a towel from housekeeping, who rather grudgingly gave me a towel. All this took 25 min. (I also checked the fitness center which was out). If this place was at capacity, which it wasn’t – as it seemed rather empty, they would not be ready for the amount of people.
The place is really gorgeous and the places to eat are ok, not fine dining or anything. I really enjoyed the food at acme oyster house. The oyster shucker is quite a character and has a great personality.
I might come back, but the customer service experience really has me wondering if it is worth it.
