From the Hip is a full-​service photography company with extensive experience and expertise across a wide range of specialties.

Our team has photographed over 250 weddings across the United States as well as internationally in Costa Rica, Mexico, and Guatemala with our signature blend of candid photojournalism and creative artistry.

We’ve teamed up with tons of couples and families to capture genuine, beautiful lifestyle sessions, and have had the pleasure of partnering with dozens of clients to capture gorgeous maternity and newborn photos.

On the corporate side, our list of thrilled clients includes Zillow, Charles Schwab, Hermès, Airbnb, Ralph Lauren, top-​tier universities, and businesses ranging from Fortune 500 companies to mom-​and-​pop yoga studios.

We’ve photographed 300+ real estate properties and architectural projects, dozens of food and product sessions, and have collaborated with close to 1,000 professionals to capture striking headshots.

History

Established in 2008.

Co-​founded in December of 2008 by the wife and husband team of Nina and Danny de Zayas, From the Hip was born out of a lifelong passion for photography and art.

Nina hails from Moscow, Russia, and Danny was born and raised in Hialeah. They both attended college in New York City, where they met and where they formalized their fine arts background at the Pratt Institute, New York University, and the New York Academy of Art.

Since its inception, From the Hip has grown into a four-​person full-​time team, allowing us to provide thoughtful, close attention to all of our couples and clients, as well as ridiculously fast turnaround times that are unrivaled in the photography industry.

Our emphasis on providing a continually improving experience for everyone we collaborate with has made From the Hip the best-​reviewed photography company on Yelp in the state of Colorado, where our business began, and our desire to constantly innovate led us to expand the company into Florida in 2014.

Meet the Business Owner

Danny D.

Business Owner

As the Co-​Founder and Chief Love Officer at From the Hip, Danny has a blast making sure that everyone we work with has a five-​star, world-​rocking, gush-​worthy experience. Truly.

Born and raised in Hialeah, Danny studied film at New York University. After graduation, he was VP of Marketing at Neighborhoodies, the internet’s first customized clothing brand. He subsequently launched two other companies before moving to Denver, Colorado, where he and his wife discovered their true calling and launched From the Hip.

Since then, the couple have had two delightful daughters and split time between the Rocky mountains of their adopted home and the vibrant South Florida area where he grew up.
