Residence Inn Fort Lauderdale SW/Miramar

Stayed here for Memorial Day weekend for 3 nights, and I enjoyed my stay. The lady at the front desk was very nice, and check in was super easy. The room was also clean, and every time we left each day we came back to a clean room and lots of clean towels (Thank God). The breakfast was also complimentary and large in selection. The only problem was in the bathroom the light was making an extremely loud noise every time you switched the light on. But overall had a good experience and would definitely come back to this location to stay again if we’re back in the area.

Stayed here this weekend. Trying to enter the hotel was a chore. The had the entrance blocked off so they could seal the parking lot. It would have made more sense if they blocked off half, as they were going to have to do the other side of the parking lot at some point. The rooms were clean, but the walls were thin. I could hear a phone conversation the lady next door was having, like she was in the room. When I come back next year, I will look for something else.

Warning… Not a business class hotel! Stayed last week only to view on multiple instances underage drinkers taking advantage of the «free wine and beer» that is offered Mon-​Wed. Shameful really, that the staff cannot approach those who obviously look underage and are giggling while consuming alcohol.
Location has free breakfast all week which was pretty OK for buffet style with no kitchen. Location offers free food nightly through Wednesday so with the freebies it caters to groups of men traveling such as road workers and construction types, those families with kids who are looking for a bargain, families in transition for housing, etc. The in-​room kitchenette is accompanied with pans that are so warped from being overheated that they are useless. These are entry level pans at best and do nothing but burn what ever you’re cooking.
This is not a business class hotel. If you want that, go to the two hotels on the same street, a Courtyard and a Hilton brand. This hotel is much like an extended stay where five or six traveling construction workers pack in to save a buck.
I had to have my room moved on 11.8.-11.9.15 due to partying at 2 am, barking dogs, drunks arriving late from partying above me and on the same floor. Actually had to have the staff show up at 3:30 am to expel the party across the hall. Of course all the partying led to dogs barking all night.

I checked in earlier today and had a minor problem with my room with a few ants. Other than that the room was pretty great, very new, clean, functional, and comfortable. The property and the room itself would get it 3.5−4 stars. For the price of the rooms, they’re very well matched with the cost. Usually for the same amount, it’s hard to get rooms nicer than the ones they offer here which, as stated earlier, are a notch above your standard extended stay. However, I’m giving 5 stars purely for the service. From the moment we checked in, the front desk representative, Samantha, was exceptionally pleasant and welcoming. When I had the issue, she went above and beyond to fix said issue and because I liked my original room so much but they had to spray for the ants, she let me relocate to a different room for the night without the hint of annoyance. I know it doesn’t sound like a huge deal but it was more her willingness to help and niceness that took me back. She even left me a hand written apology note! I think the closest I’ve gotten to it is a generic corporate apology statement from the W after a really bad stay there. As someone who travels frequently, the kind of unconditional sincere niceness from hotel staff is REALLY difficult to find pretty much anywhere. So props to this Residence Inn for great customer service, I hope they value their employees as much as their customers do!

Stayed here end of February, 2015. It looks like they may either have just done some renovating or just changed carpets. It has that new building smell :). Place is clean. Breakfast area was immaculate and well stocked.

As a Marriott platinum, I almost always stay at Marriott properties. Residence Inn is my choice for long stays, this time 11 nights.
This is the best Residence Inn I have ever stayed at. From check in to check out, and everything in between, everyone went above and beyond to make my stay a pleasurable experience.

Beautiful facility but the front desk employee that works the 11pm shift was very condescending and REFUSED to send extra towels to my room. I stay at hotels all the time and this is the first time I’ve been refused a request as simple as towel delivery. Her customers service skills is not up to Marriott standards and she needs to be re trained asap. I had two small children who were sleeping and she told me that I had to come to the front desk to pick up the towel smh. Then when I asked her am I out of luck for the towels she just hung up in my face smh. Other than that it’s a nice hotel but I wouldn’t stay there again. I’d rather stay at residence inn aventura, plantation, coconut grove, or Doral. Oh yeah they don’t have the free lunch buffet on Mondays for some weird reason yet all the other residence inns do LoL. I good I’m not coming back here NO MORE.

I am sooooo mad right now with this place!!! Be aware of their charges when you check in ! The front lady needed my card for 25.00 what ever fee! I just went to go use my credit card over draft fee!!! Called my bank! These ppl charged me 199.00 on my card!!! I’ve called and called and called message after message nooooooo call back!!! I’ll never stay here again!!!

It was great staying here. it was a very clean well kept hotel. our room came with a kitchen equipped with a microwave as well as a refrigerator. it was a pretty nice room layout. the room is a living room with a rotating tv. they offered us free breakfast with the stay everyday which is from 7−10am. must admit the free breakfast wasn’t no where amazing but really can’t complain… after all it was free. pancakes, bacon, bagels, waffles they had everything you could think of and it was all free :) but it was no complaints about staying here. on the first floor it’s a bit of a sour smell but we were staying on the second so I could not even complain about that. the staff was very friendly & I would recommend my family to stay here as well as returning myself if need be.

No, I did not stay here, but I have friends in town visiting and they are all staying here. I have stayed in many Residence Inn, the last one was in Boston and it was very nice.
This one, however, is pretty dated, lobby in particular, looks so old and the rooms have seen better days. I feel bad that I recommended this place to my friends :(

Spent one week here. Good customer service, good breakfast in the morning, good happy hour reception, good location, good price.
The rooms are nice — separate bedroom and living room areas, good size, however we had an air conditioning issue. It worked, but when it turned on it made a loud rattling sound. Comfy beds and furniture, always clean too.
Pool is small for the amount of rooms the hotel has, but it was never busy considering the hotel seemed to be packed to capacity when we were there. And I’m judging that based on the amount of people running to the breakfast area each morning.
Lots of kids in the hotel = a lot of noise. If you’re looking for a quiet place, this might not be it, but if you’re looking for family friendly, then yes!

Having traveled all my adult life on business worldwide, I can say I’ve seen it all, good& bad. This is not a bad hotel, but it’s a long ways from meeting the usually high standards found in the Marriott brands. Rooms are showing their age. Tattered carpets, dried food buildup on the kitchen table and counters, and, most annoying, loud slamming doors. The stairwells at each end of the halls are used all night by smokers heading out for a fix, and the doors leading to the outside make metal to metal contact when they close, waking you up all night if you’re within 20 feet of a stairwell.

This hotel is the devil. Miramar is the devil. South Florida in general is the devil! And lucky me had to spend 2 months of my life working there!
The first month of my Miramar sentence I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn right across the street from this Residence Inn. I didn’t enjoy my stay there so I thought I would go back to my tried and true Marriott properties for this trip. Worst decision ever.
I checked in for my 3 week stay late on a Sunday evening. I had a difficult travel day and already wasn’t too stoked to be spending another month of my life working in Florida, so I just wanted to go to bed. Since my stay was going to be extended, I unpacked both my suitecases completely and had bought a good amount of groceries and bottled water. I figured if I was stuck here, I was going to make myself as comfortable as possible. After I was done I climbed into bed to try and get a good nights rest before work the next day. At around 11:30 I was woken up by the sound of running water. I figured I didn’t turn the faucet off completely so went to the bathroom to check it out. What did I discover? Water pouring through my bathroom ceiling. I could hear the water running in the room above me. I call the front desk and explain that I believe someone in the room above me must be overflowing their tub because the water is coming through my ceiling at an alarming rate. Arlene at the front desk confirmed the room above me was indeed occupied, but advised me that she will not disturb them by calling at 11:30 at night to see if
they have left the water running. I asked her why not, since it was clear
they are flooding their room, and she said that it is their policy not to
inconvenience their guests. Um, excuse you Arlene? I asked her if she doesn’t think the waterfall in my bathroom is an inconvenience to ME, a Platinum Elite member, and she said no because I was already up and can change rooms. This was the point when I started to hate Arelene. I then told her that I am not packing up 3 weeks of clothes at midnight and switching rooms, so she better come up with a different solution. So she sent the maintenance man up. All he did was get his ladder and flashlight and look into the vent to confirm, yeah, the water was coming from the room above me. He then pulls out his walkie talkie and tells Arlene that he confirmed the water was coming from a flood in the room above me. Arelen still refuses to disturb that customer and tells me the only option is to switch rooms. At this point I storm down to the front desk to speak to Arlene in person. I asked Arlene what if the guest in the room above me slipped and fell in the tub and knocked themselves unconscious and is lying in a pool of blood and water, slowly dying, because she refuses to inconvinenice them by checking to see why the hell he room is flooding. A tad dramatic perhaps, but I was PISSED. Arlene just blankly stared at me then handed me a key to a new
room. I told Arlene that she made a bad choice, and that whatever
consequences that would have came about by her calling the room above me are nothing compared to the consequences that are going to come about by enraging me in the middle of the night. I get another blank stare and an offer for 15,000 points. I told her she take her points and shove it. The next day I tried to reach the manager of the hotel and he never responded. I had to resort to calling the Platinum line to get this issue resolved and compensation for my inconvenience. The bottom line is that I have stayed at quite a few less than stellar Marriott properties, but this one takes the cake. A discrace to the Marriott name. I wouldn’t recommend this property to my worst enemy.

The Residence Inn was my home base for a week-​long stay in South Florida on business. All things considered, this is a nice place to stay if your travels take you to the Miramar area. It’s located very close to anything you’d need: the Interstate, Walgreens, Publix, various restaurants, etc.
The room/​suite I had was great. Pretty much a full kitchen, work/​study area, living room, and a separate bedroom. The furnishing were ok, although the TVs were pretty dated. The bed was very comfortable and the shower had a great shower head. The staff was very friendly, always greeting me by name, and the breakfast looked to be pretty decent (although I did not have it during my stay). They had a convenience center with plenty of essentials for sale in case you forgot something or had a late-​night craving for Oreos and Budweiser.
There were a couple negatives though. If there’s noise in the hall, it’s also in your room as the door doesn’t block out much. Along those same lines, there were several families staying there, which meant lots of rug rats running through the halls. Speaking of hallways, they smelled funny… kinda like an old cheese sandwich that was sprayed with Lysol. The WIFI provided by the hotel is quite slow and I could only get a ‘low’ signal connection. Last, but certainly not least, the cats. This is the second time my hotel parking lot in SoFla has been terrorized by a gang of street cats. If you park at the back of the parking lot (which I tend to do, even in a rental), be prepared to defend yourself against some feline thugs.

This was an okay hotel. Free Internet and breakfast are nice but it wasn’t very clean. It was also loud– it seemed like lots of families were on vacation here and since I was here for work that wasn’t a pro for me. On the plus side the staff was really nice and attentive like the front desk people and the managers.
