Finally got there for dinner last night. I like the sushi bar when you walk right in. I like seeing the fresh fish on display. The décor is nice, and the lighting is about as perfect as it can get. Decent wine and beer list. We started with the ginger salad. My wife loved it, thinks it is one of the best around. We then shared sashimi appetizer and pork gyoza. The sashimi was great, however a couple of the pieces were a bit large. The gyoza, was just ok. The texture of the filling was not firm enough to my liking. The T-Rex roll is huge. A lot of food. It is good but don’t let it sit too long in the chili sauce. Mushed up a little. The Godzilla roll was good. Didn’t care for the tuna being finely minced. Great flavor and crunch. Our waiter was great. Attentive, personable and not overbearing at all.

My husband and I had dinner here for the first time and it was wonderful! I read the reviews on Unilocal before going in and wasn’t sure what to expect. First of all our server was one of the best servers we have ever had anywhere. She was calm and made sure we had menus, water, drinks, appetizers, etc from the time we sat down until we left. We had the lettuce chicken wraps and shrimp appetizers. The chicken lettuce wraps were the best I have had anywhere. Even better than PF Chang’s. The portions were just right. We ordered 3 different rolls and they were timely and all made well. Their sushi rolls range from $ 5-$ 20. The basic rolls are $ 5-$ 8. The mid range are from $ 10-$ 14 and the fancy ones are from $ 18-$ 20. So the cost of your meal is up to you. The fish was fresh. Great sushi place. Plus we ordered a bottle of wine and they offer a re-corking service so if you don’t finish it they will send it home with you. Wonderful ambiance, great service and good sushi! What more can anyone ask for? I’ve been to every sushi place in this area and this is definitely one of the top 2.

Our first visit was AWESOME! My husband and I enjoyed an incredible meal with extremely attentive and well informed service. The atmosphere is romantic without being stuffy and meal presentation was creative and interesting. I enjoyed the tempura appetizer and am addicted to the Tom Yum soup, however the pad thai was a bit heavy on fish sauce of which I’m not a fan. The $ 10 bloody mary was so chunky it merited spoon use as I couldn’t get it through the straw, I’ll stick to my water next time. Overall we loved the meal and will be returning soon.

I really want to give this place four stars because the sushi was pretty good. We only had sushi so that is what I am basing this review on. However, the service was average at best and the pricing for the rolls is pretty high. The atmosphere is very nice as you can imagine since the old Houlihan’s was also nice inside. I would recommend the pink lady roll out of the ones we had tonight. And I have to complain just a little about dessert. I love mochi ice cream. I get it at every Japanese restaurant I go to. And I hate it when they put cheap chocolate sauce on it!!! It overpowered the light flavor of the green tea. At least ask if I want it on there. Overall, not sure I would go back since the sushi is better and cheaper at Matuba.

My daughter and I went here on Christmas for an early dinner and were seated right away. I do not like spicy food and our waitress, Samantha, was very accommodating with checking ingredients for me. We ordered the Beef Tataki for an appetizer, minus the jalapenos, and it was excellent. The beef was tender and the Korean spicy sauce wasn’t spicy at all, which made me happy. We both ordered one of the chef’s special. Make sure to check out the board by the cooks. Both of the rolls listed there were not on the menu and were«phenomenal» I had the Poseidon Lobster Roll & my daughter ordered the Sashimi Roll. I’m not sure what the name of it was, it did have seaweed salad in it, my daughter loved it. I also had the Tuna Tartare, flavors were spot on. I normally like mine with wonton chips, they didn’t have any, Samantha suggested rice noodles and I was presently surprised. Samantha’s knowledge of the menu was very helpful. We have been here 5 times and the service has always been great. Only once did I get a stir fry dish for lunch that the beef was extremely tough, but the waitress replaced it right away. They carry liquor from Journeyman Distillery and make great specialty drinks. If you’re in the area and want good sushi, a nice atmosphere and great service this is your place without a doubt!

Beautiful restaurant, good service(Mackenzie), terrible food. The Tom Yum Soup didn’t even resemble Tom Yum Soup — chicken broth with diced tofu, hard tomato slices and a basil leaf. The Ono Carpaccio was seared and rubbery, but I liked the spice. The sushi rolls were among the worst I’ve ever had(Valentine, Dynamite and White Tuna with Jalapeño). They were flavorless and the rice was kind of warm. We left half of our sushi on the plate — not worth eating. We only tried the sushi, but I doubt we’ll be back.

Bottom line: this restaurant is okay in my opinion, but nothing special. I’ve been here a few times and consider it one of few options in the South Bend/Mishawaka area for sushi. All of the rolls I’ve tried were okay, and nigiri was fine as well. They did have some suzuki(sea bass) which was great. Miso soup, edamame, and other appetizers I’ve had here are fine. Compared with other sushi restaurants I’ve been too this place is just mediocre. You can count of satisfying your sushi craving here or having a date night or something, but don’t expect an outer body experience.

Décor is great, so is the service. Miso soup was surprisingly enough only about 2 out of 5 stars. The salad was nice, but the dressing was a bit sweet. The sushi for two was primo, and the mongolian beef was also great, plenty and delicious, Was a hair pricy, but actually worth it. My only gripe? The music is abhorrent. C’mon, Taylor Swift while I’m eating a $ 96 dinner? The final kick was leaving to the painful sounds of Bruce Springsteens’ lame-ass Christmas song. Matsubas’ on McKinley is still my favorite sushi place, but this place finally gives them a peer group. Great food, bring an I-Pod.

My daughter and I love to enjoy a glass of wine and eat great Sushi. While visiting her Grandmother in Granger, we decided to do lunch. The Sushi was the best we had ever had, wonderfully fresh and delicious as well as beautifully presented. 5 stars Can’t wait to go back

Excellent sushi choices and the hand rolls are superb. I really liked the fact that my sushi was not served freezing cold As is the case many times at other restaurants. Service…ehhh…not so great. Left our table a mess after clearing it and didn’t bother to even wipe it down.

I was very disappointed in Daihido. I had such high hopes for this place and it fell completely flat. The restaurant is beautiful but it was beautiful at Houlihans, too. The staff doesn’t seem to know the menu which is the first problem. I ordered an appletini and they came back after ten minutes saying they were out of the components to make it so they would make me a strawberry margarita. The margarita tasted like the mixed tequila with water and they threw a strawberry in there. My Michiana roll was good but not good enough to redeem our evening. My husband had a chicken dish and it was lackluster and the rice was undercooked. I couldn’t believe how small their menu was. We won’t be back. Sorry Dahido, we had high hopes and you are so close to my work and our house. I will keep going to Ho Ping House but choose Woochi for my sushi!

This is the worst sushi bar I’ve been and overall one of the worst experience in the U.S. First of, the food was in the best case ok and overall just not good. On top of that, the service was quite slow. In short, I will never go there ever.

This place is good for this area. Prices are in par of what I would think a place like this should charge. It’s not the cheapest by any means but their food is good. Presentation is great and menu is extensive. So if you want cheap sushi this is not it. But it’s a nice place with a feel of large city. I will come back.

Service — Quick, correct, and easy. Brought me two sample of the plum wine so I could make a well informed choice. Food– Lemon Coconut soup is WONDERFUL! I also enjoyed the Rainbow Roll, which was plated beautifully. For the priced compared to Woochi & Zing, I felt I received a better value here.

Drinks were reasonably priced and all very good. Loved the Ambrosia cup. Our waiter seemed inexperienced but was very friendly. The options for vegetarian sushi were somewhat slim compared to most other sushi places we’ve been. There were a lot of other options for vegheads on the menu though. Everything we ordered was presented beautifully and tasted fantastic. I would definitely visit again.

My daughter and I stopped in for dinner on Friday night. It was busy but we were seated promptly by the hostess w no reservation. The owner(who also owns Ho Ping House) did a nice job of transforming the inside from Houlihans floorplan and décor, its very nice. The menu is pretty extensive, there are plenty of Thai, Korean and Chinese items as well as Japanese and sushi. We orders the spicy shrimp appetizer which even the waiter described as a copy of Bonefish Grills Bang Bang Shrimp. Sauce was good, batter on the shrimp was a little heavy. Portion was huge… my daughter really likes shrimp and there was some leftover. My daughter orders the Salmon Roll with mango for her entrée, I ordered a sushi combo which comes with seaweed salad and miso. My daughters Salmon roll came stiffed with tempura salmon and sashimi salmon on top, drizzled with fresh mango sauce. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it… but neither of us cared for it. I think especially my daughter… who likes intense flavors like flying fish roe and wasabi… it came off as too sweet and«dessert like» for lack of a better term. It was beautifully presented on a plate painted with a cherry tree in some kind of sauce… and for someone else this roll might be a home run, it. just did not suit us. My miso was good, and my seaweed salad was possibly the best I’ve had. It was crunchy, with a nice sesame soy and chili flavor. It was presented in a bowl with an almost comically huge lip, on a bed of julienne cucumber. My entrée was sashimi, again on a plate painted with sauces, and a small tuna roll. The sashimi was very good… the yellowtail(hamachi) and halibut in particular were fantastic. It would have been nice to see something other than finned fish offered… Ika, Uni… anything just to break it up a bit. The other complaint I have is the rice was about a 6⁄10. It was a bit bland. with no sweetness and there were quite a lot of broken pieces of rice in it. Service was very good. My server was knowledgeable and friendly… and was helpful in navigating the menu. When I tried to order a roll a la carte along with miso and salad… he directed me to the combination section of the menu. Daihido is not a terrible Sushi option, but there is still some improvements to be made in order for me give it a 4th star

Really underwhelming in terms of sushi(which I will admit is all we ordered — I can’t speak for anything else). We ordered three sushi rolls — the Incredible Roll(best of the three, but overwhelmed with extras and toppings), the Golden Monkey(got this out of curiosity; the banana and mango sauce on top was not a great combination with an otherwise boring and bland roll), and the Hot Babe(the tuna was poor quality, and again this roll was loaded to the point of distraction). I did not feel that any of the rolls highlighted the fish or were particularly high quality. Atmosphere is ok, a little tacky for my taste with the color changing lights and stereotypical«asian» décor in the entryway and outside the restaurant. Probably would go to Soho in Granger if I want sushi in a trendy setting again.

Good sushi. Perfectly fused favors and texture. Friendly staff and I love the music. The rolls have a lot of rice so I’ll ask for light rice next time. Overall it was a fun and tasty date.

I enjoyed this place. We had calamari, Korean bbq, and a few rolls. Not bad at all. It is brand spankin new so it may take a little time for them to get things absolutely perfect. It wasn’t perfect but it was yummy. The calamari was a bit greasy and salty and the fries icecream wasn’t what I expected. The tempera was more like cake than tempera. We spent about 80 bucks for appetizer, two entrees, three sushi rolls, dessert and three non alcoholic drinks. Servers were friendly but for the money I don’t know. I left with my belly full but $ 80 without drinking is a bit much for the area. I think down the line I’ll visit again when they’ve been there a few months and see how they’re doing.
