History

Established in 1977.

Our philosophy is really quite simple: «Keeping Your Vehicle Dependable with Excellent Service Each and Every Time». For us, these words are not just a motto, but the only way we do business.

Rick’s Auto Service is locally owned and managed by Rick Thomas. Rick started as a junior mechanic in 1977 when the building was first made into an auto repair service center. Rick began managing the center in 1988 and has been the owner since 1990. Rick’s Auto Service is constantly adapting to the changing technology so that we will always provide excellent service every visit. Our staff uses modern computer equipment so that your visit is always timely and efficient. We are always training so that we can stay current in today’s ever changing sophisticated market — keeping your vehicle dependable.

Business Owner

Rick started out as the Junior Tech after attending classes at Ivy Tech and early on participated in the pilot program for apprentice mechanics sponsored by the state of Indiana. Through the years he has taken many classes for technical and mechanical training; management training; and business training.

He enjoys his family of 9 kids & being married 33 years, doing math puzzles and reading science books. He has been at Rick’s since it opened in 1977.

Ive used Ricks as my primary auto repair for both of my vehicles for 12 years. Rick operates his business with integrity, and his service manager Jeremy is really great to work with. I cannot thank them enough for the fantastic job they have done keeping my family safe, and our cars on the road for a fair price. I honestly cant remember ever having an extended wait on a repair either. they have consistently completed work within an 8 hour time frame.
They also have several loaner mini vans available if you absolutely need wheels for the day.

This place is a FRAUD. I went here initially for an oil change deal they were having. They did an entire check of my car (e.g. fluids) and the owner came back with an itemized list of $ 1,300 of things that needed fixed immediately for safety (e.g. steering rack, hose, alignment), $ 1,100 of things that needed fixed within a month, and another $ 400 of things that weren’t top priority but needed fixed within 3 months. He said there was good news though — he had the parts to do all of these today and I could pay for a rental until they were finished. I told him it would be cheaper to buy an new car and he lectured me on how proper maintenance is always cheaper than a new car. I declined and he gave me a rose which is in itself bizarre. Interestingly my service engine light came on as soon as I left the shop too. I went to my normal mechanic and he found NOTHING wrong with my car, nothing, nothing. This was over 6 months ago and I still receive emails from ol’ Rick Thomas trying to lure me in, following up about recommended repairs and service changes due. Please do not go here

The service here is TERRIBLE. I went in after being on the road with some car troubles an he wanted to do this 90 dollar test to tell me what was wrong with the car I declined and asked just for a tune up with a change of spark plugs he was pretty rude about it and did the tune up. I finally arrived to DC and took my car to jiffy lube for an oil change the guy there pointed out it was a small elbow hose something that ricks auto could have found considering it’s right there. Rick is a complete tool and I would recommend you go elsewhere and save your time. Worst experience with a mechanic EVER! Drive a few miles and find another place.
