We could not recommend EJ’s enough for your contracting or window covering needs. «Chris Cabinet» has designed and executed 3 kitchens and 2 bathrooms for us and has always gone above and beyond what we have asked. He is completely dependable, reliable, and fair in his pricing. Chris offers great advice for design details and is very open to your own thoughts and desires. His handiwork is impeccable! «Eric Windows» has also been a life saver. He has provided window shades in two homes and his work is always top notch. His pricing is definitely fair, he is thoughtful and never tries to «oversell» more than you need.
We wish we could give them more than 5 stars… they deserve it!

When dealing with contractors, installers and other similar service providers, it can be difficult, frustrating and sometimes aggravating. Not with EJ’s.
I arrived home one day and noticed a screen install truck across the street. I asked if I could receive an estimate for a retractable screen door and EJ’s representative, Johnny, said he would stop by when finished. As promised, he stopped by and provided an estimate. Most of all, he was patient, answered all of my questions and also had great ideas on placement and other information. Based on that interaction alone, I decided to move forward with the install. The price was fair and competitive from what others have disclossed, so I decided to have a second retractable screen door installed as well.
Here is where the good stuff begins. First, I spoke with Eric in the office to schedule an appointment. I had an appointment within two weeks. Second, Johnny showed up to the appointment on time and ready to work. Johnny walked me through the install again and completed the install with no mess or issues. He continued to answer any questions I had with patience with no hint of frustration or trying to rush me. In fact, thw work was done quickly and, more important, professionally.
It has been a month or so and the screens work and look fantastic. Based on this experience, I highly recommend that you reach out to EJ’s first. I will look to EJ’s for other household needs (shutters and cabinets) in the future.

Eric and his company are fabulous! They installed 11 Plantation Shutters in our home and we couldn’t be happier. If you are looking for honest workers and quality work, then EJs Home Improvement is for you. The owner Eric (and his staff) are professional, helpful and offer excellent customer service. In 2010, Eric came out and offered me suggestions and a bid for bamboo shades in my kitchen, kitchen door and family room as well as blinds for my study. The bid was fair so I went with him. The work was quality and they were flexible with my work schedule. When my shade started to act up, they came out at no cost to fix it. Last month (March 2016) they came out again, at no cost, to fix the kitchen door shade. When I offered to pay he refused. Family run, local, polite, honest. I will continue to use them in the future!

Had two screen doors installed. Eric gave us a great price. And Johnny did a fantastic job installing the doors and answering our questions along the way. Extremely professional in every way.

This review is being written more than a year after we had our shutters installed and we still have nothing but good things to say about EJ and his company. We had several quotes from a few different companies, based on his experience and professionalism we ended up making the decision on the spot. They were not the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive either. EJ made sure he came out twice to properly measure our windows/​shutters since we had some unique situations with our windows (they aren’t standard). On install day, even his crew was awesome. We still have one small strip that needs to get installed to fill a gap between two windows that are closely spaced but aren’t in much of a rush with it.
I appreciate professionalism and great customer service, EJ certainly provides it. We have certainly recommended him to some friends and family.

Love our 4″ shutters! We got shutters for our bay window and 2 huge windows in our house and they look great. Eric has great communication, prices, and expertise. I already referred him to my sister. Thanks Eric!

I want to follow up on my previous posted review. After my review posted, Eric called and we discussed the issues. He was genuinely apologizing and agreed that things on my project didn’t go well and he’s making honest steps in trying to correct it from happening in the future. He did send a check for 10% of the cost as he had promised before.
I honestly believe that my situation was a rare instance (as I stated before) as most, if not all, think very highly of the firm.

Bought lots of plantation shutters and blinds after moving into my new house. I received a few quotes and EJ’s was the most competitive. In addition, the owner Eric was very professional, responsive, knowledgeable, and patient. It’s a longtime, family owned business (which I love to support) and they deserve the 5 stars. The installation was seamless, thanks to Johnny, who was so competent and skilled.

Chris stopped by within minutes after finishing a job nearby. Gave very reasonable quote on redoing the corners of my staircase but also advice on how I could fix it myself. Very honest person and will definitely use as contractor in the future.

I obtained 8 bids from reputable places in the Newport Beach/​Costa Mesa area – and had begun to think that shutters for our new home were out of the question due to absurdly high quotes. That was before I stumbled upon EJ’s Home Improvement on Unilocal.After Eric’s timely appointment, professional measurements, and helpful consultation, I soon learned we could indeed afford shutters. Eric and his team installed 8 windows worth of top-​notch custom shutters in our home that look beyond fabulous. I have already referred 2 other friends to EJ’s and plan on continuing to do so as I firmly believe their quality of work and competitive pricing absolutely cannot beat!

We purchased our plantation shutters for our home through EJ’s Home Improvements, and it’s been a great experience. We received estimates with several other contractors including some top-​rated businesses through Unilocal,but Eric had very competitive pricing with great service and the quality was top notch. He brought samples with him to our home for actually seeing the product against our walls instead of other contractors having us go into their stores.

Ej’s Home Improvements has done several projects in our home. Starting with the master bedroom, We took out all of the furnishings and Chris custom built our furniture. He helped me design a dresser that is larger than typical and created a built in headboard along with nightstands. Eric had custom shutters made for our windows to complete the look. The workmanship is excellent! The crews were always on time and cleaned up each day before leaving.
They also rebuilt our laundry room and customized it to fit a stackable washer and dryer. Again excellent service and workmanship.
Chris also custom built our living room mantle and Eric provided beautiful 2″ wood blinds to match.
Last year we had our kitchen remodeled. That was a huge ordeal however EJ’s made it as painless as possible. Anyone going without a kitchen for 6 – 8 weeks understands. Chris sent me to great places to select granite, tile & flooring. He brought awesome finishes for the cabinetry and listened to my design ideas while adding ones that I didn’t think of.
Eric provided 2″ wood blinds and when one came warped he did not hesitate to have it replaced.
Eric has also provided us with retractable screen doors and has always been helpful with rescreening if a cat or kids has run through it. :)
Today we just finished up on the master bath shower/​tub area. This was not a full remodel but Chris was wiling to work around what we have and make a beautiful finished bath suite.

I used EJ’s Home Improvement today to help me with my broken plantation shutter. I was fearful that they would not help me because my repair was on the inexpensive side. It seems like most companies will only help you if your repair is over $ 250. Thankfully when I called, the owner was super pleasant and helpful!
My repair was not urgent so he (Eric) fit me into his schedule as I don’t live close to Mission Viejo. That was fine with me. He called me twice to follow up on the appointment. And even with his reminder phone calls, I still forgot!
I arrived to my appointment 10 minutes late. He was exactly on time. He didn’t act put off by my lapse of memory. Instead, he was pleasant and happy to see me.
The repair was done neatly, quickly, and professionally. My shutter is as good as new.
I now have a future company to use for any woodworking/​window coverings. I HIGHLY recommend this company. Excellent professionalism, work, and prices. You can’t go wrong.

I am completely satisfied with the service and products provided by EJ’s Home Improvements. We contracted with Eric for the fabrication and installation of plantation shutters, a retractable screen door for french doors, and verti-​glide style shades after receiving bids from other local suppliers and installers.
Eric the low bidder for the job by over three thousand dollars. He was extremely knowledgeable about the products and provided us with terrific information and options that hadn’t been presented by his competitors. The shades, screen door and shutters were all delivered and installed ahead of schedule by a very professional, polite individual who showed up on time for the install.
I would highly recommend EJ’s Home Improvements if you need window treatments. Also note that they do commercial work, so if you’re in need for your business, give Eric a call and he will treat you right.
