–Factotum– I prefer Bukowski. The last few times I’ve been in here the unfriendly old man, that spoke to my shoulder, made it a point to tell me «I’m not the owner». Upon telling him I would not pay the outlandish prices asked, he said«I don’t give a sh*t». I’ve lived in Mission Viejo my entire life, been a city volunteer for 7 years. I refuse to be treated like this, I sure hope the REALOWNER reads this review. If not, I’ll see to it they do. Normally, I would say«Auf Wiedersehen.» But since what«Auf Wiedersehen» actually means is «‘until I see you again» and since I never wish to see you again, to you sir, I say goodbye I recommend that you drive a few miles down the road to Gabes. **Update** I emailed the Owner and got back two replies. She, apparently, shares the same attitude as the employee, Bob.(See photo)

Don’t bother wasting your gas to visit this shoe repair unless you don’t care about wasting your $$. I went there today to get a dog leash repaired where our puppy had chewed it. Simple job to have it resewn. I was quoted $ 35!!! At first I thought he was kidding, but nope he was dead serious! I walked out, went onto Unilocal and found another wonderful shoe repair shop down the street who repaired the leash on the spot and only charged me $ 10… Can’t see how they can stay in business trying to charge prices like that!

They did an good job fixing my shoes, but are terribly expensive. It cost me $ 60 to resole a pair of wedges, and the shoes didn’t cost me much more than that when I bought them new. And then, $ 25 each to replace the heels on three pairs of shoes. Yowie! Good, but super expensive.

Agree with Tawny P.: this place charges wayyy too much! Unfortunately I didn’t have time to shop around and had to go here to have a heel replaced(re-cemented) in one of my stiletto’s. The work was decent, but at $ 35 for ONE heel it better be! And they weren’t even able to get the scuffs off of the shoe, which is patented leather. Also, while the man was helping me he kept looking over my shoulder… weird. A week later the other heel started feeling wobbly, so I took it back but they said it would be another $ 35. I took it to a STELLAR place in Belmont Shores, where it cost me $ 18, plus they got the scuffs out, AND I was treated much more personably. It’s a long drive, but if you’re ever in the Long Beach area I would highly recommend ‘Gem Shoe Repair’. As for Factotum– never again.

I called here to get an estimate to replace a rubber end of my stiletto heel and they wanted $ 20 for both heels! No way! I went down the street somewhere else and paid $ 10 for the two. This place charges too much. Can’t comment on the work seeing as I didn’t go but as far as prices, no thanks.

This place is OL-OL-OLD school but that’s what makes it so authentic. You walk in and feel like you’re back in Mission Viejo circa 1965. It even smells that old. Anyway, I have gotten my shoes repaired and stretched here and so far, so good. My only complaints are that the weekday hours are IMPOSSIBLE to catch if you work FT, they make you pay in advance and it can be a bit pricey. I took my Ann Taylor leather sandal in to get a strap repaired and it was $ 25! If they werent my all-time favorite shoe I would have tossed them into the trash and gotten a new pair for that price.
