This is the second refinance we have done through Armin Ashfar of Guardian Capital. Armin succeeded in getting us an excellent rate and made both experiences incredibly positive. With professionalism and experience, he handled all the truly unexpected hurdles, such as FEMA reports, elevation, additional insurance, problems with previous lender, and a few more surprises, with expertise and patience. His proficiency made a rather complicated refinance, successful. We thought customer service was a thing of the past, with Armin and Guardian Capital it is alive and well. I was referred to Ali at Guardian Capital by my girlfriend for a mortgage loan on my recent home purchase. Ali is now my go to guy for all my mortgage needs. I work for a mortgage company myself, but Ali was able to offer me a better rate and a lower origination fee than the company I work for. He is beyond helpful, knowledgeable and punctual. I was beyond impressed with how he handled my loan process. The process was quick and painless, just how you would hope it would be. I definitely recommend Guardian Capital to anyone that needs any kind of mortgage services.

He isn’t a bad broker or even a bad guy, but he claimed he would get us a great rate as do all of brokers. We were upfront that we were smart shoppers and would look for the best deal in a refinance. He offered 3.75% at a cost of nearly $ 7,000.00. We decided to go forward with an appraisal and paid the $ 400 for it. The appraisal came back way below market value. Ali and I both agreed we didn’t like it and he said he would order a new one and pay for it (since I paid for the first one). That one did come back just fine. Unfortunately Green Light Loans came back with a 3.25%, we didn’t have to pay anything to get that rate. I told this to Ali who exclaimed that he knows this industry inside and out and that we would never close on that rate at that cost. Well we did close on that rate and at no cost (except the usual title fees we’ve seen on every mortgage/​refi).
Fastforward a few weeks and Ali calls me and says he needs to invoice me for the 2^nd appraisal and some costs around credit checks. I told him it was ok to send an invoice because I wanted to see the detail. He wanted over $ 500.00. That doesn’t sit well with me. If you offer to pay for something because the first appraisal you ordered didn’t come back right, then you offered to pay for it. Today Ali is threatening to take me to collections saying that the offer was contingent on closing. Those words were never mentioned. If they were I would have stopped working with him as his rate wasn’t good enough and I wouldn’t have sunk more time and money into working with him. I asked him to send me the documents i signed noting that I would pay for it I didn’t close or send me a recording of my voice agreeing to those terms. He said he «doesn’t have them lying around» and that he «wasn’t going to play games with me.» He also told me I was lucky that he didn’t charge me for his time. What mortgage broker charges for their time? Oh right. None of them. Nice Ali quickly became nasty to deal with. I told him that he can send me to collections if he really wants to but I am not paying over $ 500 for something I never agreed to pay in the first place.
I was going to leave him a good review because except for not being able to offer the best rate, he was otherwise great to deal with. Not anymore.
There are no shortage of mortgage brokers out there, and you don’t have to settle. After dealing with more than our fair share of incompetent, disingenuous, and arrogant brokers, we were lucky enough to find greenlight loans. They worked super quickly, got us the best rate of anyone we worked with, and were extremely responsive to all of our questions.

What can we say Armin Afshar is the best at his craft. At first we were very hesitant to do a refi with an out of town mortgage planner. His dedication and persitance to getting the right loan for our family was the best. His attention to detail paid its dividends when we finally closed our loan. His ways of explaining all this mortgage lingo and translating it into a simple easy to understand language made a huge difference for us and made us feel very secure and confortable with our decision to proceed with our refi loan. I sought out Armin Afshar at Guardian Capital with the idea of getting a reverse mortgage on my home. I was surprised that Armin advised that I might do better with a direct lender in possibly getting a line of credit or second on my home instead. He was more concerned with me getting the best results for my individual situation than he was in making money from doing a loan for me.
I tried the different ideas that Armin suggested but unfortunately none of them worked out because of my credit rating. I proceeded with the reverse mortgage and he counseled me through the whole process making sure I understood all aspects of the loan. He made sure I was kept informed every step of the way.
As a former realtor who has worked with many mortgage brokers through the years, I have never worked with anyone who has the integrity, ethics, and dedication that Armin has for his clients.

About a year ago, August 2013 — I told Armin that I was looking to do a Refi on my home but that I was waiting for a determination from the Veterans Administration before I could start because it would save me a considerable amount of money if I did. He was patient, very patient, he waited.
Well you know how slow the VA is, so nearly a year later I got what I needed from the VA, Armin and I got things going — I got the paperwork together, all my VA stuff — he knew exactly what I needed and took care of it. He called me frequently to keep me in the loop and to get clarification, he was direct and I followed his guidance.
He personally handled the few hurdles that came our way with ease and grace and professionalism. I felt very comfortable doing business with him and I have had numerous home loan transactions in my life, this was the smoothest.
I’ve been in business a long time, I have managed many people in my many years so I think I qualify as a good judge of character — Armin has a quality that I don’t see in many people today — he has what I call the three «D’s» — Drive, Desire and Dedication, he makes good use of his time and he has attained the highest freedom level.
I could not be happier with this transaction — smooth, clean, and most of all it is a done deal — my wife is busy spending the money as we speak.
So my message to you all is — if you have an immediate or future need for a Refi or a new home loan, you have many options at your disposal, but if you do not select Armin to handle it for you then you are doing yourself a disservice.
